I don't know what else to do, what to say, how to even go forward really. I feel like ever since TSWF shut down, shit's just gone down hill for me.
I can't concentrate, I can't seem to make a good roleplay to save my life, and I seem even less able to pull a win out.
My confidence in my writing ability is shot, I'm second guessing everything I do, and I'm just not sure I can keep going with it. I don't want to just pull up shop and leave, but all evidence is pointing for me to do just that.
So I ask all of you, what should I do? What can I do? I'm tired of feeling like I'm fighting a losing battle all the time, so I turn to you guys and ask, what must I do to turn this situation around?
I mean I couldn't even win with two roleplays versus one, so I must be a big pile of shit or something.

Well... maybe a good storyline might help.. wins and losses are cool but a good storyline is always a good thing

Well... maybe a good storyline might help.. wins and losses are cool but a good storyline is always a good thing I agree. I got more successful in PWX when I created a more backstory to Stryker, it could totally work for Corella. Because your RPs are not bad at all Rob, I like them.

Leon has a pretty detailed backstory that only got fleshed out more overtime online. I mean I created an entire fictional promotion that pre-dates the majority of E-Wrestling, and was dying out as most E-Feds were really picking up steam in the grand scheme of things. Hell his father was one of the biggest names in the late 70's all the way through the late 80's, and his grand father was a noteworthy wrestler back in the 1950's who fought as a teenager in WW2, then came back and had a solid wrestling career up until the 60's when he had gotten too old. His grand father was inspired loosely by Stu Hart as an insanely old guy who could torture 20 year olds with ease. I've got backstory a plenty.
I just feel like I can't cut a break, like I've been jinxed ever since TSWF went Kaputsky.
I tend to have a view that, if it isn't on camera, then why bother writing it? That's why I don't have a ton of character developmental pieces or any stories leading up to the actual promos themselves when we do the taping pieces.
Maybe that hurts me, I don't know. I wish I could turn this around, but just when I think I've written a winner, bam... I'm left sitting in front of a computer going "Whose dick do I have to suck to get a win around here?"
Hate to put it in those kind of terms, but that's pretty much how I feel. I don't want to be handed wins or anything like that, but I just want to know what I need to do to get better and actually freaking win? I know I have to be consistent and thanks to following some bad advice, I shot the consistency to shit. Just like the title says, I need help.

I don't mean to sound mean, but: Leon has a pretty detailed backstory that only got fleshed out more overtime online. Yawn. What good does any of that do for your writing? How often can you sell, keeping it fresh and interesting, that Leon is a third generation wrestler? What credibility is supposed to be carried by that? You don't see WWE stars quivering at Cody Rhodes because he has pedigree. A) This is a wrestling inspired creative writing game. B) I assume Leon has more in his life than wrestling, why shouldn't you show it? C) Because its more interesting for the reader than reading the same shoot over and over again. As someone who: A) lost to you, B) didn't win this week with a 2-1 rp ratio, I'm bordering on offended here ;D

Benny, sorry if I offended you man. I have an issue with bringing personal life scenarios into a professional wrestling stand point.
Leon's private life is just that, private. He doesn't mix the business with his life and the one time that happened, was a promotion that utilized a reality TV shoot style, where you had the wrestlers on camera 24/7 and shit got pretty bad in his home because of it.
Let's just say after a REALLY bad day, Leon sent a camera crew in their van packing by whaling on their vehicle with a sledgehammer, busting out windows, trying to rip them out of the damn thing. They opted to run like hell with him roaring at the top of his lungs "THIS IS MY LIFE!!! NOT YOURS!!! NOT ANYONE ELSES!!! NO MORE CAMERA'S IN MY FUCKING HOUSE!!!"
So ever since then, I've tried hard to focus on what happens on camera, and leave everything else as an unknown.

But that fed isn't this fed, we're not a shoot style 24/7 fed and we, as writers, can utilise off camera segments to develop out shtick.
That or realise that not everything that has happened in your past Feds has to be canon.
Most of us here don't know these things about Leon, you can edit or create details about him.
Off camera just means you're writing for Ben the reader, not Dom the wrestler. There is nothing wrong with that.

Ah... I just kinda' felt like it only mattered if it was on camera and anything else was just kind of a waste or something. No offense, because you guys do write good off camera stuff. I do like reading it, just often find myself scratching my head sometimes and wondering "What's that got to do with his upcoming match?"

Match...little to nothing.
Character...everything.

Well thanks Benny. I think I have an idea, but it may start out as a depressing as hell angle.

It'll at least explain things, even covering Terry's non-booking of Leon Corella at this show.

Leon, you've been doing this for a long time now right? It's safe to assume you're not green-behind-the-ears when it comes to E-Wrestling...
You're going about this all wrong man.. all wrong.
Who the FU^K cares what everyone else thinks and what everyone else wants out of you?! This isn't about us, this is about you. You're writing because you enjoy doing this. Right?
I feel like you're trying TOO hard to impress us here. Stop caring about what we think, write what YOU like to write..

To be honest, I only just started trying to impress, because doing it my way, isn't working or getting me what I want for this character. So, I'm going to do what I have to at this point.
