CHARACTER BACKGROUND
PERSONALITY:
A hip hop enthusiast with a love of pro wrestling. After putting in work in various promotions, TJ is looking to take the next leap in competition in FGA. Reasons for competing: experience, passion, glory.
STRENGTHS:
1. Agility. In his early 20s, TJ took up Freerunning, which evolved out of his love for breaking. A descendant art of Parkour, freerunning is a style of expression by interacting with various objects within an environment. Because of this, we may see TJ interact with many of the elements in and around the ring to his advantage (e.g. performing a tiger wall flip off the ring post to counter an irish whip).
2. Striking. At 5BBA, TJ was able to learn the basics of professional wrestling. As his training increased, TJ took up a concentration in striking during the later stages of his time at the academy. While he doesn't possess brute force, TJ's combinations are fluid and his strikes can have a bit of pop to them.
3. Fans. TJ has a genuine love and respect for the fans of wrestling. He draws strength from them in his lowest moments in the ring. Their enthusiasm inspires him to push further.
WEAKNESSES:
1. Strength. At only 205 pounds, he isn't the strongest guy on the roster and can be overpowered, depending on the matchup with his opponent.
2. Pride. He can let his pride get the better of him, which could prove costly given the situation.
TAUNTS/MANNERISMS:
1. Spinaroonie after a Scissors Kick
2. Smacking his chest twice before posing with his arms spread out

BACKGROUND:
TJ's journey in professional wrestling started back in 2016. He attended the same LDFC tryout camp as Maritza Diaz, Rab McKinley, Abigail Verna, Peaches and others. Unfortunately for TJ, an offer to train at LDFC wasn't extended to him. After failing to be picked up by RISE, Valero Fight Club or any of the other big name schools at the time, the man known as Tyson James seemed to disappear from wrestling. He returned to his stomping grounds in New York. It was there that he learned the ropes at 5 Boroughs Battle Academy. Once his training was complete, TJ resurfaced on the pro wrestling scene in the now defunct Sentinel Wrestling Alliance back in December 2017.
In SWA, he met some of his oldest friends in the sport, including future tag team partner Johnny Amazing. After some initial success, TJ ventured away from Colorado after SWA closed and landed in places such as Alianza Campeonato Mexicano and Evolution Wrestling. From there, TJ earned himself a roster spot in the Oceanic Wrestling Federation in early 2020. He made another leap in the summer of 2020 by joining the third incarnation of Liberty Pro.
TJ continued to build up his rep in Liberty Pro while also catching wind of Sadie San Francisco's open challenge. This was the chance that he had been waiting for. He always knew that he would one day have the ability to compete in FGA. This was an opportunity that was too good to pass up. TJ was ultimately unsuccessful in his challenge of the United States Championship. While he lost the match, he won over officials and was given a contract soon after. With his debut as a contracted talent in the Gold Rush Rumble in the books, TJ found himself in a feud with Cassius Reed. TJ spoke on how people like Cassius paved the way for him. The two split a pair of matches 1-1. After both matches, TJ looked for a handshake, only for Cassius to leave him hanging. The score was settled at All-Star Showdown IX, when TJ beat Cassius again. This time, TJ earned Cassius' respect and the two finally shook hands.
At the start of 2021, TJ volunteered Cassius to be his tag team partner. Despite Cassius' objections to teaming, TJ sold Cassius on the idea of their potential. After some initial hesitation, Cassius warmed up to the idea. While TJ saw this as an equal partnership, Cassius positioned himself as the leader between the two. TJ brushed off Cassius' brashness for the sake of the team. Now calling themselves the Renegades of Funk, the Funky Technician and the Funky Dragon won the vacant World Tag Team titles. The Renegades of Funk continued to rack up wins. But as the wins continued to come, Cassius started to grow frustrated with TJ. On two occasions, TJ accidentally knocked Cassius off the apron, sending him into the barricade. In addition, TJ grew more and more frustrated with Cassius' willingness to cheat. Things finally came to ahead at All-Star Showdown X, when the Renegades of Funk lost the titles to Silk & Cyanide. After the match, Cassius attacked TJ before injuring his leg. With the Renegades of Funk now a thing of the past, TJ was out for revenge. The Funky Technician eventually got his revenge at Grapple Kingdom 4, where he defeated his former partner to end their rivalry.
From there, TJ turned his attention to capturing his first singles title. He eventually did just that, winning a tournament to become the new 15 Champion. As 15 Champion, TJ was able to hold the championship for a record 243 days while defending it against the likes of Mark Storm, Erin Mariani, Laura Perelli and Mark Bisley. With four successful defenses, TJ relinquished the title in exchange for a shot at the Pride Championship. Meanwhile, he also linked up with long-time friend, Sparrow, to form the new tag team, Def Before Dishonor.

RING ENTRANCE:
♫ Step into a world (Klaka klaka, klaka klaka!)
Where there's no one left (Buku, buku! Alla de massive!)
But the very best (Klaka, bo bo, BDP crew, bo bo bo bo!)
No MC can test [*cut and scratch of KRS saying "but one"*] ♫
The beat kicks in as "Step Into a World (Rapture’s Delight)" starts to knock through the speakers. Out through the curtain steps TJ Techniques, clad in his ring attire and hooded vest. TJ peeks out underneath the hood as he looks out to the right. He does the same to his left before flinging the hood back, smacking his chest twice and pointing down in front of him with his forefingers. TJ nods his head as he makes his way down the ramp on a mission.
TJ leaps to the apron before stepping into the squared circle. He makes a beeline towards the far corner and hops up to the middle ropes. TJ scans the crowd before slapping his chest twice and pointing down in front of him with his fingers. He hops down from the corner, walks across the ring and hops to the middle ropes and scans the corner. TJ slaps his chest twice before pointing down in front of him with his forefingers. He then hops down and takes off the hooded vest before tossing it to the outside. TJ tugs away at the top rope as he readies himself for his opponent/the start of the match.
Entrance vs. Hated Rival:
The crowd goes into a frenzy when the arena lights shut off. Seconds later, the "Kill Bill Siren" blares throughout the arena as the house lights pulsate. Once the siren ends, the arena becomes engulfed in darkness as "The Truth" by Beanie Sigel pumps through the speakers. The lights in the arena come back on at the start of the first verse. Standing at the entrance way is TJ Techniques. Dressed in a black leather jacket, black t-shirt, black leather gloves, black cargo pants, black leather boots and Dead Presidents face paint.
[ANNOUNCER INTRO]
Techniques continues to stare daggers at INSERT OPPONENT HERE before making his way down the ramp.
[COMMENTARY STUFF]
Fans reach over the guardrail to pat TJ on the back. But he pays them no mind as he keeps his sights set solely on his opponent. The Funky Technician leaps up to the apron, points directly at his opponent and gives them a finger gun taunt before stepping in through the ropes. Seconds later, TJ tosses the jacket to the outside before aggressively tugging on the ropes before the opening bell.
