Per Leonard T. Asherman, the FGA Brand Split will be dissolving effective immediately.
The brand split came about during the summer of 2017. Flashpoint had recently started up as a second show to compliment Vertigo programming and give FGA's expanded roster another platform to ply their craft. Once it was determined that FGA had a large and reliable talent pool to successfully support two shows exclusively, the Brand Extension was announced in July 2017. The Brand Extension Draft was held in September 2017. Since that time, FGA has seen a mini Draft Lottery, a Draft, a pair of General Managers per show and an increased number of championships.
Why end the brand split now? Asherman and his fellow Executive Committee members feel that while they could continue to support both Vertigo and Flashpoint with separate rosters, the best option going forward into 2020 is to bring both rosters together and present the fans with the best talent available each and every show. It is their belief that the merging of the rosters will lead to fresh matchups, deeper divisions and even some "Dream Match" scenarios. The Executive Committee is excited for the many possibilities going forward.
Prior to the initial brand split in 2017, the titles that were in rotation were the FGA Undisputed Championship, FGA Pride Championship, FGA Mid-Atlantic Legacy Championship, FGA World Tag Team Championship and the FGA 15 Championship (which was recently brought over from FGA's then-affiliate, 3GW). Since that time, FGA has introduced the FGA International Heavyweight Championship, FGA United States Championship and the FGA United States Tag Team Championship. At the time of the split, the Pride, 15 and Mid-Atlantic Legacy titles were brand-exclusive while the Undisputed and World Tag Team Champions floated between both shows. Due to the machinations of certain rosters members and GMs, along with a burgeoning brand war, those two titles became brand-exclusive while other championships were slowly rolled out. There aren't any immediate plans in place to unify championships. However, by the end of 2020, it is the goal of the Executive Committee to have just three singles championships and only one set of tag championships.
Both Jenevieve Geroux and Kayden Jones were aware of plans in the week prior to this announcement. FGA officials are very appreciative of the jobs they've done and are willing to transition them into other roles in the organization, if they so choose.
Re: Programming, Vertigo will be FGA's flagshow show going forward. The current broadcast team of Kris Cruise, Stephy Auger, J.A. Aldridge, Spencer Burke and Jessie Pederson will remain in place. The fate of Flashpoint is unknown at this time. With that being said, the Flashpoint team of Geoff Penzer, Melanie Sierra and Amanda Johnson have been retained.
