OOC: Not really an Afterburn. This was Carina and Laurel's entrance on Vertigo. The format of the show obviously didn't include entrances so I'm posting it here. ^-^


There is only darkness and silence...

...or at least what passes for dark and silent in the context of a wrestling show, anyway.

Voice: Ladies and gentlemen, Carina Eventide and Laurel Anne Hardy proudly present to you... The Mirror.

A woman fades into view, her figure glowing purple under the ultraviolet light that's being slowly brought in. Tash Sultana's "Synergy" starts to build alongside the image as she begins to move her arms and legs, contorting into rhythmic, robotic patterns - some of them seemingly impossible, like lifting both her feet off the ground at once. Slowly, like an amoeba, still dancing, she begins to pull apart from herself, her right and left halves tugging in opposite directions. It happens at last, the two sides splitting along the middle and stumbling apart. One is now washed in red light, the other blue.

As the woman's halves jerkily drift in a ringward direction, they pull apart further. It's gradual but noticeable, and as they move further and further apart, they begin to glance across at each other with longing in their motions. A complicated sequence of movements covers them getting into the ring without making it look too awkward, and then the blue and red half-figures start stretching out for one another, arms pulling out desperately. Yet the harder they reach, the harder the struggle becomes. The longing becomes inhuman as they inch closer and closer. At last, like Adam and God stretching across the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, their fingertips touch...

...light flares up as fast as it can without, y'know permanently blinding anyone, flooding the venue in white. Almost as quickly, it subsides to a fairly dim level to reveal Laurel and Carina, standing back-to-back in the centre of the ring. Laurel's whole left side is white with a crimson vein design, not just on her boots, kneepads, trunks, crop top, long armband and choker, but everywhere else too as face and body paint. The wrestling gear on her right side is a bit fancier with tassels, straps, and a separate elbow pad and wristband. This side is all black with a geometric blue design reminiscent of a feather's barbs, a pattern which breaks a little way beyond the fabric across her skin in a similar shade of blue. Carina's attire is identical, but flipped so the white's on her right and black's on her left. They both turn around and stare each other in the face expressionlessly for a moment, nose-to-nose, not moving...

...before spinning and rushing across to opposite sides of the ring as the lights return to normal, where they jump up onto the ropes and lean out, shouting their battle cries and hyping up the cheering fans!

With a swagger in his step, Fenrys can be seen walking through the backstage area with Inflatable Dom in tow. Obviously happy after his victory over Zola Star earlier in the evening - despite the circumstances regarding his cohorts in The New Murder! His mood picks up even more as he sees Jessie Pederson walking towards with a microphone in hand, presumably wanting a word with the man himself for a change!

Jessie Pederson: Fenrys! First things first, congratulations on your victory over Zola Star earlier tonight. A hard fought contest, but you’ve finally got another win under your belt in-- and I don’t mean to sound rude, but in what seems forever.

Fenrys nods his head in acknowledgment - that losing streak was beginning to add up, but he managed to break it tonight!

Fenrys: I--

Annie Zellor: --gave us some scares out there.

Mary-Jane McCracken: But you pulled through in the end, and we’re all so proud of you.

By now the trio of Annie Zellor, Mary-Jane McCracken, and Jaelynn Ramsey have arrived on the scene and have surrounded Fenrys. MJ leans in to give the masked man a brief hug, and he seems to perk up for a moment...before realizing that Jessie has now lost interest in him. Fenrys stomps his foot in anger as the questions start up.

Jessie Pederson: A big first win back on Vertigo for you tonight, Jaelynn. But the fans might be mor--

Jaelynn Ramsey: --your congratulations will suffice, Jessie. If you need to ask us more questions, such as why we attacked Ashley Marie Chase after the match...

Annie Zellor: ...that one should be, like, really obvious. Like, really obvious.

Jaelynn Ramsey: Agreed. We could focus on my victory over Antoniette Sands, but why should we give a member of The New Murder credit for their victories? Such a shame. I expect better from you, Jessie.

Jessie Pederson: ...I’m sorry?

The apology is offered with hesitation, not that The New Murder care. They just want to make Jessie uncomfortable right now, as evident by the smirks on the three faces of Annie, Jae, and Mary-Jane.

Annie Zellor: Look, tonight we went out there and, like, we picked up two wins. So that’s awesome, but we know next show that Ashley and Ant are gonna wanna try and get some payback--

Mary-Jane McCracken: --but you’ll be ready for them.

Annie Zellor: It’s been a few years since I really properly faced Ashley Chase...but I reckon I can remember how to pop her POW! Right in the kisser!

Annie pulls a #grrface for the camera; the memories of laying out AMC in NKP bringing a smile to her face for a moment before she continues.

Jaelynn Ramsey: Save some for me…

Annie Zellor: You got it, Jae!

The pair fist bump.

Annie Zellor: But-- and this is a BIG but, Jessie. When Dom hears about the G.E.R.O.U.X. system naming those three as potential number one contenders...or when he hears that, like, Sara Mason has a World title shot...or that Jenevieve Geroux is STILL the dumbest General Manager we’ve ever had on Vertigo...there’s gonna be hell to pay for someone. And I wouldn’t wanna be the person on the wrong end of that.

Jaelynn Ramsey: She deserves what’s coming her way as far as I’m concerned.

With that, the four members of The New Murder (and Inflatable Dom) exit the scene as we fade to black.

Backstage area, a few minutes after Vertigo ended

We see Amanda Johnson standing in the backstage area with Ace Voltage standing next to her.

Amanda: Ladies and Gentleman allow me to welcome my guest at this time, Ace Voltage.

Ace smiles at Amanda.

Amanda: Ace, we all heard that you are next in line for the Mid-Atlantic Legacy Championship. Could I get your thoughts on that?

Ace changes his smiling demeanor really quick into a trusted, annoyed look.


Ace: Who the hell does Piper Lennon think she is?

Amanda has a surprised look on her face.

Ace: I am the Undefeated Ace Voltage. I am THE Main Event of this brand, of this company. Piper Lennon doesn’t know who I am? She’s either lying or just plain stupid. Arrogance does not look good on her. 

Amanda: We know you recently joined FGA a few months ago, so this is a big deal for you, Ace. How are you going to be preparing for this?

Ace: Well, first of all. I will make Piper Lennon remember the name, Ace Voltage. I am no superhero. I am no joke. In reality, I am the NEXT Mid-Atlantic Legacy Champion. And you can take that to the bank Amanda.

I don’t need to prepare for this. I am the best in this company. Did you see my match tonight? Another easy victory for the Main Event of Vertigo. I haven’t lost yet and I certainly will not start losing once I face Piper.

Amanda: Piper Lennon is one of the best here in FGA. You’ve said you wanted increased competition, do you think you finally got your wish?

Ace: My wish is to become FGA World Champion. My demand was stronger competition and it looks like whoever is running this show finally listened to me. Nobody else is more deserving of a championship opportunity than me. Like I’ve said before, I am the savior of this company. Without me, FGA would be going down the drain. I am single handedly saving Vertigo. And once I become the Mid-Atlantic Legacy Champion, FGA will get the world wide recognition it deserves, because of me.

Amanda: Well, thank you for your time Ace…

Ace cuts her off and grabs her mic.

Ace: Thank you for your time, actually. You can go. I’m done with you now.

Amanda walks away with an annoyed look on her face.

Ace: Piper Lennon. You better hold that championship dearly these next few days. Take some pictures with it. Cherish it. Because once I am done with you, you will never touch that title again. I am the fastest rising star in this company and that is a fact. You want to treat me like a joke? Like I don’t exist? Well, you are in for a rude awakening. You think you run this place? I run this place. I am the face of Vertigo and within a few weeks, I will be the champion of Vertigo. Spoiler alert.

Ace throws the mic down and walks out of the camera shot.
