Jenevieve Geroux is hard at work in her office at FGA headquarters, poring over stacks of paperwork, scanning and indexing various pieces of information on Vertigo wrestlers into a database. The General Manager glances up briefly, looks back down at the file in front of her, scribbling some notes down before closing the folder and sitting back up. Looking straight ahead, she greets the individual standing across from her desk.
Jenevieve Geroux: Hello, what do you want.
The camera pans out, revealing the 2018 Frontier Lion Cup winner, Evan Envi, leaning less-than-casually against the shut door of the office. Judging by the lack of audible cues, it can be assumed that “the Chief” had been standing there for an uncomfortable amount of time.
Jenevieve Geroux: If you’re here about vegan catering options, that’s not under my purview-- I just handle wrestling matters.
One might think that she was being snarky or poking fun at Evan like many tend to do, but that would require her to have a sense of humor, so she was definitely serious.
Evan Envi: Wrestling matters. Perfect. That’s perfect. That’s why I’m here. And I know it’s a little forward, but that’s where we’re at right now, so-- I’ll just say it.
Envi inhales deeply, almost forcing a stern, serious look on his face.
Evan Envi: I don’t wanna wait. I want my World Title match on the first Vertigo of 2019.
After a moment of consideration, she gives her flat reply.
Jenevieve Geroux: Okay.
Evan Envi: How closed-minded could you be?! I mean-- Kol doesn’t even deserve to be the World Champion. How does it make us look, letting him parade around, putting an irreversible stink on the title that WARRIORS like myself, and to a lesser extent, James Page, dang-near died trying to defend in the past? I didn’t bleed across eight freakin’ continents for the likes of COLTON STERLING--
Jenevieve Geroux: What are you doing, I said you have the match.
Evan Envi: Hm?
Jenevieve Geroux: It’s a bit unorthodox, but you earned a Championship match, and it would be a big way to kick off the year. You and Kol for the World Championship will headline this Vertigo, I’ll have to shuffle the card around a bit, but it’s a done deal. Now if there wasn’t anything else, I need to get to work drawing up the bout agreements.
Evan blinks a few times, seemingly taking a few seconds to process exactly what transpired. He slowly brings his hands together and clears his throat, adjusting his posture.
Evan Envi: That’s right.
A smirk spreads across Envi’s face as he backs toward the door, nodding, clearly proud of himself.
Evan Envi: Good on you, Jen. Finally, a GM that listens to reason, right? Hah.
He turns, pulling open the door to her office, taking one step out into the brightly lit hallway before slowly turning back toward Geroux, that smirk still in tact.
Evan Envi: We’re gonna get the World Title back into safe hands. I promise.
With a slap against the frame of the door, Envi makes his way out of the shot, leaving Geroux behind. The GM appears to have no strong feelings one way or the other about Evan’s proclamations and returns to her work.
