Backstage, after the main event has finished and our intrepid reporter Spencer Burke is roaming the halls looking for his next interview. His pace, however, slows down as he sees the two figures approaching him.
Dom Harter: Spencer, baby! Come closer.
He spits with heavy sarcasm as The New Murder members move towards the still Spencer Burke. Both still dressed in their ring attire; Annie wears a frown after her early elimination in the battle royal, while Dom looks more…placid.
Dom Harter: Don’t be shy, Spence. We won’t bite – well not you, anyway. And I can’t afford to strike another member of staff.
Spencer musters up the courage to step forward with his microphone in hand, ready to ask the first question.
Spencer Burke: Annie, Dom. Maybe not the result you were wanting from the battle royal tonight, but how do you–
Annie Zellor: Screw Marlon Cure.
She cuts him off, scowling at the mention of the Mid-Atlantic Legacy champion.
Dom Harter: Yeah, that.
Annie Zellor: He’s gonna pay for that – maybe not now, but soon. ‘Cause I should be the one who’s gonna face Jimmy Page at Final Frontier! Not Kol.
Spencer Burke: So you two aren’t happy about Kol winn-
Dom Harter: She’s not, and rightfully so. But Marlon Cure doesn’t know what he’s done, but like Annie said, he’ll get his comeuppance one day. And he’s just one of many; Malcolm Drake has dug his own grave a little bit deeper, ready for Chris to bury that psychopath – that reminds me! Spence, I think I owe you something…
Spencer Burke: Really, what’s that?
Dom Harter: I F**KING TOLD YOU SO!
Harter yells at the interviewer as he jabs a finger in Spencer’s face, referencing Drake turning his back on the fans at the recent pay-per-view, before taking a deep breath and returning his placid self. His arm wrapped around Annie’s shoulders as Dom gives her a quick squeeze.
Dom Harter: Once a snake, always a snake. Isn’t that the rule, Spence? But these people, they don’t know what’s coming their way. They just think they’re kicking us while we’re down. Malcolm wants to cost Chris an opportunity, Marlon wants to put the screws to Annie and Fenrys. Jae deserved better than that. But we–we’re never down for long, Spencer. You know this, I know this. The whole goddamn world knows this. So Kol can have his shot. He’s the lesser of…so many evils in that match. So good for him. Enjoy that shot, Kol…
Harter smiles, beaming his crooked grin at the camera before turning back to Spencer.
Spencer Burke: And you’ve got your upcoming match against Josh Kennedy coming up at the Anniversary Show now.
Annie Zellor: That’s what I get for inviting him backstage.
Dom Harter: It’s not your fault, he’s free to make his own mistakes. But, Spencer, you can consider me…invigorated. For now, at least. Soon I’ll have one of the best in the world standing across the ring from me. And on that night, I’ll show you the Dom Harter we all know and love!
With that, Dom reaches across and pinches Spencer’s cheeks.
Dom Harter: Isn’t that right, Spencer?
But there’s no answer forthcoming from the interviewer.
Dom Harter: Just as I thought. But remember, we’ll be back on top soon, Spencer. A nice shiny Golden Crown on my head. Maybe you should think about trying to get back into our good graces now, before it’s too late.
And the pair walk away, leaving Spencer behind as the scene comes to an end with the traditional fade to black.
