DAT COLD OPEN. I loved writing this opening scene with Steve. We wanted to tell a story throughout the course of the show and use it to build toward the title match-- and the gimmick of the title match. Hopefully we entertained!
A1 banter between Cruise and Auger leading to a seg between Silk & Cyanide before their match. I loved the seg-- I think the team promoted themselves and this match really well. This probably would’ve looked cool irl. As for the match itself, I’m hoping I did both teams justice. I don’t recall ever writing SMWB before so I hope I didn’t screw it up. >_>
Pendragon is a really fun babyface team. In honesty, this specific promo probably went on a tiny bit longer than it needed to, but it doesn’t detract from the charm of the team lol. Plus, these guys are so likeable, it really reminds you how much you wanna see Dom Harter get his face smashed. Heh.
Steve wrote Sadie vs Jaelynn to perfection, so thanks to him for that, This feud has been going on for the better part of a year and this (to me, anyway) felt both fresh and like a proper blowoff with the amount of time the two took off before this cycle. It was fun though and I feel like there’ll be another chapter somewhere down the road.
Lol Piper Lennon is probably in my personal top 3 most interesting characters in FGA right now. I’ve realized that she really doesn’t feel like she belongs in this setting. Like she’s a character from another universe dropped into this one. It makes her way more appealing that way though. Susan Kent’s seg followed and… idk, it does kind of fall flat, but only because we’ve watching a continuous story arc that never has any conclusion in sight it seems. I just want something to happen, hah. Finishes off with Marlon Cure’s seg which probably felt the most “complete” out of the three. You can really tell Cure buys into himself and the writer 100% knows what his character is. This trio of segments were bookended with pieces that really made me wanna see this match. I wonder who wrote it.
BOOM I WROTE IT. And hopefully it was decent. I wrote three endings to this, and a small part of me wants to see an FGA Vertigo with Susan Kent as the new Mid-Atlantic Legacy Champion… but this was the right call and I hope Cure has a healthy reign with the belt. Seems like a character that can work against anybody.
Solid Izzy promo. Covers a lot of bases and puts over her tag team (and tag team partner) while giving us the smallest tease when it comes to the possibility of Anders v Mine for the Pride Title.
The inverse of what happened earlier-- Dom and Annie had a promo that was way shorter than I was expecting, but it definitely resonated with me. I think this was well done. And Dom Harter using the word “boy” so much annoys me. What a heel.
Aside from the obviously awesome spots which were already mentioned here, there were just a lot of sick spots that folks should go and check out in this ladder match. (Neal saving Lowri with a Slingblade before Dom could Piledrive her onto a ladder is one of those things that sounds so simple-- but I love the tag psychology. Stuff like Dom just wailing on Lowri with a ladder in the Tree of Woe, the Suplex to Neal to the bridge on the outside… all good visuals). Glad to see Pendragon walk away with this one, but both teams look like killers.
Fujiko with a vicious promo punching my soul in the face and shit. But with the year she’s had, it makes a ton of sense for her to be mad confident. Only a matter of time before she’s competing for the top belt, I imagine, whether she’s still the Pride Champ or not lol.
The next seg with the Good Guys and Jimmy was meant to cover a lot of ground in a relatively short period of time so hopefully we managed that. Again, I loved writing this and huge thanks to David and Steve for their efforts. (This was probably my favorite of the 3 segs we did)
Fujiko Mine vs Ricky Valero made sense, and definitely elevated Fujiko even higher. It may not be the ideal Supershow match, but it definitely gives both characters something to build off of and makes Fuji look like a boss.
FINAL FRONTIER FFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Drake vs Bond in an Iron-Man match. Major kudos for making this a compelling read throughout bc Iron-Man matches in feuds are never handled that well in this game. Regardless, I’m still undecided with how I feel about the double turn. I love how it was written, and idk if “rushed” is the right word but… idk. Maybe I have to see the aftermath to appreciate it more. That doesn’t take away from how awesome of a read this was. And that apron got a lot of love tonight didn’t it. It’s the hardest part of the ring, I hear
Final seg began to tie everything together. Thanks again to Steve for his help with this, and the feud overall.
I love everything about the main event. Terr did an awesome job here and I can’t think of anything I would change. I did include some minor notes as far as roles of certain lumberjacks but the rest was up to Terr, who knocked it out of the park. So many moving parts but I never felt lost, personally. Congrats to Steve/Jimmy and I’m interested to see how the main event scene develops.
Solid.
