This is a couple weeks late, but better late than never amirite!
I loved everything about the opening here. Giving Kendall the show-opening seg didn’t feel out of place and it really further cements the 15 Title as a big deal-- as something truly worth contending for. (In fairness, most champions have done a great job of this, but I feel Kendall has that extra something.) The match that followed was a nice read and the way it ended made Reed feel like a huge deal (especially noting he was pulling double-duty) without sacrificing any of what makes Kendall a great face champ. This is a rare example of a clean finish still making you crave the next part of the series.
SS style with TTT and Steel followed. Some nice tension brewing between the two teams. Nothing that really stood out. A personal thing: I prefer for dialogue to be broken up with actions or something between line breaks. It really doesn’t make a difference but yeah. That. AAA seg followed and again, this was by-the-numbers, but keeps the team visible and gives you an idea of who they are, which is important since the first round of Duos didn’t have a presser IIRC.
Sad to see Majima take the clean loss here, but maybe this can be the start of a consistent push for Tillman, who always kind of loses steam right after he starts to get going.
PCLAS had a fun segment that built tension in the tag division. I had fun writing the tag team match that followed so hopefully everyone enjoyed it.
I loved the following seg between Chandler and Brookford. Classic face/heel shit on display. BROOKFORD is such an awesome character all around and Chandler is consistently one of my favorite parts of the show. I would love to see a proper feud between these two tbh.
Good win for AAA here. Nothing huge to note. Good action to keep things flowing. (Also I used to have a character in a team with a finisher named “Full Facial.” I’m a sucker for this.)
Heh. Salem Keiser is a fantastic promo. Not sure how this escaped me over time.
Nice win for the Bad Boys here. I’m not sure if this match necessarily contained anything special but it was easy to read, easy to enjoy. The finish had a cool sequence, I imagine it would’ve looked sick irl. Intrigued by all competitors here. A #RubyWay seg followed and I’m happy to see a former main roster team come back. Lol they make me oddly uncomfortable but I dig em. The Snow & McKinnon seg that followed didn’t do a lot for me. Idk, maybe I’m missing something huge and just need to reread? But it just left a weird taste in my mouth.
Talbot v Tomkins ended in a clever way. Feel like I’ve been expecting more out of Tomkins but this was a good match with a good inclusion of Patrick Jones at the end.
Edwards v Stryker is such a simple, enjoyable feud tbh. Digging Stryker as a heel way more than I expected, which helps Edwards come off a little better than he has historically. >_> I mean that in the best possible way, obv. It led into Edwards vs Bisley which I wrote and hopefully did both characters justice. Sorry for not including a timestamp at the end, heh.
Fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff I really liked the Chandler/Cherry promo. Not sure how familiar a lot of people here were with APW but this gives me major Kurt Noble vibes. I just like how this entire build is being handled.
Chaotics seg followed and I’m a fan of the story we’re telling (with everyone involved). Hoping it comes off well.
RubyWay v BATB was a fine match. There was nothing technically wrong with it but it took me a little while to get through. Too many unbroken blocks of text. I feel if I wasn’t intrigued by RW coming back it would’ve been hard for me to keep focused.
Really cool exchange with Savannah and BROOKFORD here. I like Savannah as the champ and BROOKFORD really plays well off anybody. Two takeaways from this… I lol’d for far too long at ”pecker order” bc I’m childish af aaand I didn’t realize how long ago the US Title tournament was. Or how fast this year has gone by. One of the two.
My heart hurts for Sweet Meat. You have no idea. </3
Not sure what the visual would be on a Tilt-A-Whirl countered into an Abdominal Stretch but I mean, I’m here for it. More Abdominal Stretches out of nowhere pls. Chalwell vs JK was good. Win for Karma made sense, Chalwell still looked good coming out of this, and the match was easy to digest.
Figured BROOKFORD v Savannah wouldn’t be blown off here on the initial read. Still well done. This did its job in furthering an already-interesting story. No complaints.
The end of Stryker v Scott struck me as predictable, and it annoyed me at first… but skimming the show a second time before feedback gives me a different perspective. Stryker is a rat bastard, and he’s aggravating, and generally unlikeable. And this embodied that. So I changed my mind and I actually really like this ending. Also keep him away from that title. Just kidding. GO HEELS.
Good show.
Also I'm just now seeing the new feedback format. I'll use that next time. >_>
