CHARACTER BACKGROUND
Picbase:
Brit Watkins
Gimmick:
An African-American woman who is looking to make the fortune in wrestling that she couldn't with her incredible musical talents.
Strengths:
1. Ring Awareness: Beginning her career in 2016, Mela works to learn as much as she can about wrestling. Her biggest strength happens to be vision. She knows where she is in the ring the majority of the time. This helps with rope breaks. Escaping out of the ring. Using the ring as a weapon. Generally the small things.
2. Crowd Worker: Musicians tend to have the talent for making certain people like them and making others furious at their every move. Mela is no different from the lot of them.
Weaknesses:
1. Speed: Many continuously say that Mela Morrow works a “dead” style of wrestling which highlights many Hair Pull Tosses from the classic ladies of wrestling. Sometimes Mela won't be able to keep up with the high velocity action common to the sport today. High Flyer are especially a bad matchup for her.
2. Size: To bigger opponents she gives up a bit of speed. A ton of strength. When it comes to wrestlers larger she can find herself in a world of trouble in-between those ropes.
Taunts/Mannerisms:
1. Slow bow to the fans
2. Balled fist in the air / Black Power salute
Bio:
It is known that Carmela Morrow was born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut. Our Gentlewoman stood as the artisan among craftsmen in her family. By no means did she grow up poor in a family of tradesmen. Despite a decent upbringing Mela knew there was more for her than hard labor. It it said that she learned to play six instruments in hope of creating a better future for herself. One that would ensure she and her future family would never have to break their backs for a proper living.
No matter the talent she had, the type of music Morrow specialized in simply didn't pay the bills the way she expected. There was no Pop Star money in being Mozart. She ended up having to supplement her income by teaching entry music classes at her local high school. Somewhere down the line a co-worker pointed her in the direction of a wrestling school named the Hartford Wrestling Academy which was ran by a wrestler whose heyday came in the 70s. From there? You'll have to hear it from her.
