Fading in to the familiar FGA patterned backdrop as one of FGA's first signings for the year 2017 stands with a signature smirk on his face, "Indestructible" Owen Gonsalves is donned in his Submission Alchemist sweater and a pair of black jeans, he's got a nice shiner on his right eye from his most recent assault at the hands of Ricky Valero's men. His eyes are off in the distance, possibly imagining the picture he's set in his head.
Owen Gonsalves: Very rarely in professional wrestling will you find events that hold such significance in a company that the winners are practically guaranteed to be immortalized in the pages of history. It's that time of year once again, folks...
With a hint of confidence worn on his face, his eyes dart right into the camera lens.
Owen Gonsalves: Frontier Grappling Arts proudly brings to you, the 2017 Gold Rush Rumble! 30 participants who all believe that without a shadow of a doubt, they are the absolute best in this company and that they warrant, they deserve an opportunity at the reigning FGA Undisputed Champion...whether that be the incomparable Cordy Stevenson or Izzy freakin' Anders, we shall soon see, but that does not strike fear in the hearts of the 30 men and women entering this match...oh no.
The Submission Alchemist pulls out an index finger and waves it quickly before scratching his chin.
Owen Gonsalves: These 30 participants fear not who they have to face, they bravely dive into a match...no, a scrap because they know that they have just a tiny chance, just one opportunity to capture lightning in a bottle and maybe, just maybe win the whole damn thing and solidify themselves as the next contender for the most important prize in this company.
He takes a moment's breath as he lets those words sink in for a moment. He pulls up a water bottle, making sure to cover the brand label like a true company man.
Owen Gonsalves: Now I could run down the participants, I could list off every name participating but I'm already late to that party so might as well skip over it. Instead, let's talk past winners huh? Dom Harter's won the damn thing twice, the reigning FGA Undisputed Champion's won it, and we had a stale mate last year when Tony Carmine and Johnny Cannon both hit the floor at the same time. Those four names alone are top names in this company, then you look at performances that didn't result in wins, Johnny Karma is the damn Rumble God for a reason, Fujiko Mine has Rumble miles, then you got Cyncity and Evangelista...I could go on and on and on..
Owen pauses and takes another deep breath for a moment before cracking a smile.
Owen Gonsalves: If there's one event, that can make a wrestler in this company, it's this one, and I get that there's 29 other hungry competitors who are all just as dangerous and just as good as those winners and Rumble legends...but you see, there's one in the 30 that is just that more hungry, just that more desperate for a big win and you're bloody looking at him.
The adrenaline and emotion is flowing through him as the passion and determination can be seen in the way he looks right into the camera. There's a pause right after his words before he points right at his mug.
Owen Gonsalves: I should've beaten Ricky Valero, and don't even get me started on what I'm going to do to him if I get my hands on him in the Gold Rush Rumble, I should've beaten Annie Zellor, I should've won my debut match...but I didn't and you know I could throw the blame on the outside factors behind those losses but no, those losses were on me. I've been doing this far too long to have fallen short to silly errors like that but now, now I'm desperate.
He's pulling this emotion, this frustration from the pit of his stomach and you can see just how much a win in FGA would mean to him.
Owen Gonsalves: This is MY shot to solidify myself, after 9 fucking years, as one of the top wrestlers in the world today because it's not new knowledge to me, I've known from day one that I can be the best but for some reason every time I get an opportunity it slips through my fingers but man, I'm too focused now, I'm too focused to let an opportunity like this slip again...
Owen lets out a heavy sigh, pushing out the last of his emotion before closing his eyes and cracking a smirk, thus composing himself once again.
Owen Gonsalves: ...I refuse to lose this opportunity, those 29 other competitors are going to have to take it from my cold, dead hands. They don't want it bad enough, not like I do. Only The Strong Survive, only one can win...15th of April 2017, in Tampa, Florida in the Amalie Arena! They'll all find out that Owen Gonsalves cannot be destroyed.
The desperation in his eyes tells the rest of the story, this is must win for the High Flyah Messiah. We fade out to black.
