MOVESET
With the past year of relative normalcy (and a shiny title) under his belt, Pedro has mostly reached an acceptance of his past and what kind of person it has made him. This has been slowly evident in the reacceptance of his catch wrestling teachings and now, with the help of months of hidden training he dare not expose, the flying side of him has gained a few new tricks. While he is still trying to figure out what one hundred percent works for him, there is a clear goal to be balanced enough for any opponent at any given time.
This mindset, naturally, includes lots of pins. But I'd be lying if I said he wasn't embracing the fact that he is an annoyance for some people. This can manifest in him feigning an attempt of one move only to do another. The goal is to win, after all. And wrestling is a mental game unlike any other.
Grappling Style:
1. Catch/Lucha
2. He seems to be working on his striking. Juuuuust a little bit.
Finishing Moves:
So we’re not counting the fuckton of pins I could easily put down here? Kay, then. Here’s some moves for the writers that actually need finishers!
1. The Ecstasy of Gold - Cross Armbreaker, either flying, transitioned via Victory Roll, or with the assistance of a hurricanrana depending on the situation.
2. Madness Sets In - Capture suplex lift dropped into a vertical drop brainbuster.
Trademark Moves:
1. El Destino - Springboard corkscrew moonsault. A tribute to both the crazy Time Lord that smuggled him into the States (she's fond of the spinning) and to a former trainer who taught him the ways of catch wrestling...and encouraged Pedro to springboard like a mo'fo.
2. German suplex followed by a waist-lock backward roll transitioned into a reverse rolling prawn hold.
3. Entangled - Inverted lotus hold can opener
4. Diving no–handed cartwheel evasion followed by an over the top rope tiger feint kick.
5. Imploding 450° splash
Common Moves:
1. Bicycle high knee
2. Tiger feint kick, occasionally goes over the top rope
3. Devil Lock DDT
4. Retrograde Am-knee-sia - Running high knee, bicycle high knee, Springboard into a knee drop
5. Sadistic Combo – Uppercut to the jaw, elbow to the face, roundhouse kick to the arm, sweep kick.
6. Capture suplex
7. German suplex
8. Kimura
9. Wrist lock, occasionally combined with a rear naked choke
10. Triangle choke, sometimes rolled over into a rana pin
11. Shooting star press, sometimes either running or corkscrew
12. No hands Topé
13. Cartwheel plancha
14. Springboard somersault hurricanrana, can also be converted as a pin
15. Reverse rolling prawn hold
16. Hammerlock
17. Shooting star DDT
18. High-speed hurricanrana, sometimes while springboarding
19. Matrix evasion
20. Senton Atomico
ENTRANCE & ATTIRE
Entrance Music:
"El Jefe" by Mexican Institute of Sound
Ring Attire:
Red hooded cape (entrance only)
Black tights with Bueno Club’s logo + red and white accents
Black kneepads
Fire engine red wrestling boots
Ring Entrance:
“BUENO CLUB! POR-R-R-R-R-R-R VIDA!”
“El Jefe” by Mexican Institute of Sound plays, acting every bit like some hyped up James Bond theme, as multicolored lights are everywhere in the arena. A spotlight hits on a lone figure with a red hooded cape who shuffles his feet atop the ramp. He keeps his head down before unveiling himself as Pedro Gonzales by taking off the cape with a flourish.
Pedro spreads his arms out as he strolls leisurely past, slapping as many fans hands as possible all the while looking at the ring. Upon approaching the apron, he takes the 3GW Tag Team championship of his waist and kisses it before handing it and the cape to an attendant. Pedro then slides into the ring and stands on the top turnbuckle, raising a fist to a decent amount of approval from the fans before putting his feet back on that wonderful canvas where he’s sure to do pretty awesome stuff.
CHARACTER BACKGROUND
Pic Base:
Héctor Jiménez
Gimmick:
Pedro may not look like much at first glance. He seems like your typical plucky tryhard who doesn’t know what he’s doing, but there’s more than meets the eye. He has gotten comfortable in his own skin and uses the constantly shifting modes of his soul to his advantage. There’s a confidence in his actions even when he acts like a bumbling idiot and this cunningness and unpredictability has annoyed quite a few of his former opponents. The recent emergence of previously untapped pride and an urge to earn all the gold and all the accomplishments by any means only makes Pedro that much more dangerous.
Strengths:
1. Pins! Pins! Pins! - Anybody that's watched Pedro's past matches knows this, but it honestly needs to be said. The arsenal of pins started with a simple schoolboy mastered against his sleeping older brother as kids and has steadily increased during his time anywhere remotely near a wrestling ring. You can't really call it an encyclopedic knowledge of such but if there's a way to keep somebody's shoulders down, he will find it.
2. Awareness - At the start of his wrestling career, Pedro had to be sensitive to where he was in the ring in order to know when and where to escape. Now that he actually has a decent amount of training behind his belt, he uses the same sensitivity to put his feet on ropes and other stuff that is more of a help than a hindrance in a match. Also not at veteran like levels as of yet. But hey, it's a building block.
3. Tenacious AF – Will pull out moves when you don’t expect it. Will find a way to stay in the match when you think you have him down.
Weaknesses:
1. ARE YOU ASKING FOR A CHALLENGE?!? - Pride is always one of those attributes that can be both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, it is better to be confident in your own abilities because if you're not, nobody else is going to be. On the other hand, some people try to crush anything resembling an accolade of his, making Pedro push himself and his opponent as hard as he can to prove them wrong. This could get him in trouble.
2. Internal Rivalry - Professional wrestling is built on two things: the chase for gold and heated battles. In the case of Pedro, the biggest threat to his goals and ambitions is himself. Whether it's the loss of a match causing him to beat himself up mentally or overthinking a decision to his own detriment, the battle can be delayed but never full stopped.
Bio:
I could write the whole thing again in totally different words. But for the sake of simplicity let’s go with…Pedro was a poor Mexican working a dead end job before being drugged and smuggled into the United States. He was forced into wrestling, actually loved it, and has been doing it on and off ever since. He has seen and been through some wild shit between his debut and now to the point where the bitchyness and often ludicrous ways of the wrestling world as a whole are considered normal. He mostly blames that on the zombies.
