“Here we go,” Lukas enthuses as he and Layla make their way into the shot. She speaks up next, “after having a couple of shows off, The Gold Star Connection are back in action on Thursday Night Challenge this week!” Layla smiles brightly as her boyfriend wraps an arm around her shoulder.
“And y’know what’s even better than that,” Lukas asks rhetorically, “Pedro Gonzales finally got ‘round to accepting our challenge for Showdown in the Sun so we’ve got our first defense of these–” they both pat the belts that are slung over their shoulders, “-the 3GW Tag Team Championships. The only question we gotta ask is – will El Grande Malo be in his corner that night? ‘Cause it ain’t lookin’ likely, but we can probably ask him ourselves this Thursday when he’s gonna be our tag partner for this six person tag match.”
“Maybe he’ll choose Ashley,” Layla suggests, “she’s said she wants to challenge for the tag titles.” To which Lukas laughs, slapping his thigh before he replies, “and Saylor said she’d be the next Paramount champion, an’ look how that turned out. She ain’t even got a Twiiter account no more…” He whispers to the camera, raising his eyebrows in alarm.
“Whatever that’s all about, none of them are gonna be the ones standing across the ring from the three of us on Thursday night,” Layla says with a nod, “that’s all about Avaset Kaiser, Macy Dover, and Jaelynn Ramsey.”
“It’s a step up in tag partners for her,” Lukas jokes, “at least she knows what Ava and Macy are all ‘bout. Not like that guy she’s recruited for her match at Showdown in the Sun.” He says, but Layla seems to disagree; she shakes her head as she lets out an elongated, “Nooo. I know Macy’s a former World champion over there in SSWA, but she’s not exactly Dom Harter. And if Jaelynn wanted to team with Macy for that match in a coupla weeks then she probably would be…”
Lukas thinks for a moment, “So…she probably don’t wanna team with her on Thursday? ‘Cause I know they both hate that Peaches girl. And ’cause of that snub Macy’s gotta be in a fatal fourway match at the supershow to try and be the first 3GW wrestler to challenge for the Hollywood Cup – somethin’ she might even feel she’s entitled to…” Lukas looks towards the camera again, “…I would if I were you, Macy. You’re better, faster, stronger an’ more accomplished than any of ’em others. That Gabi chick ain’t even debuted yet apparently…” that joke draws a shake of the head from Layla though.
“That’s not funny, Luke,” she reprimands him, “but we can’t forget the third member of our opponent’s team this week, Avaset Kaiser.”
“How could I forget her?” Lukas jokes, prompting Layla to backhand him across the chest; he walks away briefly gasping in pain as Layla speaks again. “We know all about the Kaiser reputation in this sport. We know what Avaset’s done here and abroad. And we know that calling her a hungry competitor would be an understatement. To say she’s got a point to prove would be doing her, like, a disservice.”
“That smarts,” Lukas walks back into shot, still holding his chest. “But, Avaset, especially after that loss on the last show is gonna walk into the Center Stage Arena with a point to prove–” Layla throws her hands up in exasperation, “–but I’m gonna ask y’all one very serious, super important question. Can that ring even contain all y’all egos at the same time?”
“‘Cause Ava thinks she’s God’s gift to wrestling already. An’ Macy thinks she’s the biggest ass kicker in recent history. An’ Jaelynn? I ain’t got a clue what that girl’s malfunction is, but she’s got some guy filling her head with sweet li’l lies now. An’ individually that probably makes ’em all dangerous in a way…” Lukas says, looking over towards his girlfriend, who continues the train of thought, “…but together? That’s just a recipe for disaster. We might not be on the same page as El Grande Malo, what with our history and all,” Layla shrugs helplessly, “but we know team glory is more important than individual glory on Thursday. We know that beating you means working together. Do you all know that, or is this just a case of you all wanting to make yourselves look like a million dollars? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.” With that, The Gold Star Connection wave good-bye to the camera, and the scene ends.
