Tag Team Match
Ricky Valero and Owen Gonsalves vs. Izzy Anders and Savannah Taylor
There was silence; the lights began to fade away slowly. A soft instrumental echoes out across the audience. It starts slowly, a beautiful sound that contrasts the heaviness of the world. Like feathers, it glides among the waiting audience. The lighting fixtures produce a gentle spotlight upon the stage, offset by the occasional flash here and there. As the song continues, a woman’s words begin to come through. Her voice is tender, not raising upon a whisper.
Deceived by my eyes and all I was told I should see
Opinions not mine, the person they taught me to be
One night in the dark, a vision of someone I knew
And in the darkness I saw, a voice say, I'm you.
On the stage, a feminine figure appears. Her head lowered to everything. People cannot make out who it is. As she stands there, the flashes briefly illuminate her figure. It only gives small clues on who stands at the gate. She stands in the spotlight, her shadow cast large and proudly among the stage.
Inside me a light was turned on…
The instrumental picks up again. An electric guitar now joins the progressively exciting instrumentals of before. The singer’s voice suddenly intensifies.
Then I was alive!
In the light, it is revealed that it was Savannah Taylor. She stands at the gate, a robe of obsidian and ivory hues. The hood of it shadows her eyes, but the intensity of the final EXODUS World Champion remains clear as day. She starts off down the ramp, with a serious aura radiating from her body.
J.A. Aldridge: The following tag team contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Las Vegas, Nevada! Weighing in at 120 pounds… SAVANNAAAAAAH TAYYYYYLOOOOR!!!
If you close your eyes your life,
A naked truth revealed
Dreams you never lived,
And scars never healed
Savannah makes her way up the ring steps. She looks out towards the audience for a moment before entering the ring. From there, she heads for a turnbuckle. She stands there, taking in everything. She then lifts her up on top of it. She peers out in nothing, then takes off the hood with a flashy flourish. Her blonde locks fly up in the air. They descend, shaping her face as they famously do.
In the darkness, light will take you to the other side
You'll find me waiting there you'll see, if you just close your eyes
While she stands in her corner, she closes her eyes and takes a heavy breath. When her bright eyes open, Taylor is completely composed. There is nothing more than the heat of battle awaiting her. She takes off her robe, giving it to a stagehand. She stretches her wrists before devoting her mind to the war upon the horizon.
Kris Cruise: We thought Savannah Taylor was talking about Chris Bond a few weeks ago when she stated her intentions of making noise in the Pride division. But that was confirmed tonight from the horse’s mouth.
Stephy Auger: First off, don’t ever refer to Savannah Taylor as a horse. Second of all, we all knew that she was talking about Bond. Only dumb people like you and Spencer Burke needed it spelled out for you. I thought that Chris Bond would’ve shown up last week to address his fans. After all, the man was only advertised to make his big return there! But it seems like the manhood was beaten out of Bond long ago.
A somber strum of a guitar echoed out throughout the arena. The lights in the arena began to dim to a haunting dark purple color. From behind the curtain, a figure comes out. She lingers in the darkness, before creeping into the spotlight. She wears a long, dark cloak; it softly breezes in the wind. When "One More Soul to the Call" by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn begins to pick up, she unfastens the coat. She takes it off in a heavy flourish, the song picks up completely, transforming into a hard rock song.
♫ DAMAGE DONE TO THE FLESH, WHAT THEY SAID, IN THE NAME OF THE...
DAMAGE DONE TO THE HEART, IS THE START, OF THE END!
DAMAGE DONE TO MY SOUL, I KNOW, IT KNOWS WHERE MY...
DAMAGE DONE TO MY LIFE, CURSING LOUD, AT THE CHAOS ♫
J.A. Aldridge: Making her way down to the ring, fighting out of Holland, Michigan, weighing in at a 157 pounds, she is the Mindkiller, IZZZZZY ANDEEEEEEERS!
♫ ONE MORE SOUL TO THE CALL, FOR ALL, IN SILENCE...
COMES TWO MORE SOULS TO THE CALL, FOR ALL, AND IN TIME!
THREE MORE MORE SOULS TO THE CALL, THEY FALL...
UNKNOWING THAT FOUR MORE SOULS TO THE CALL, WON'T BE ALL, AND YOU KNOW IT! ♫
Izzy ascends the turnbuckle, her eyepatch clear as day. She grabs onto it, ripping it off with a dramatic elegance. The eye under it burns brightly with a shade of red. She leaps off the turnbuckle, walking methodically to the center of the ring. There, she poses once more, enjoying the haunting and heavy rhythm of her own song. She looks up to the sky, smiling wickedly. She awaits the match to start with a sadistic aura radiating off her.
Kris Cruise: Izzy Anders sure did have a lot of nerve decking Cherry Baum last week!
Stephy Auger: Oh? Anders has made it known she returned at First Wave that she was here to burn this place to the ground. Wii\th Johnny Karma wanting to be the protector of everything that’s pure and good about FGA, he ended up putting himself high up on her hit list. As far as Cherry is concerned, she’s always getting in the way. So I’m not at all shocked she got decked.
"Cinderella Man" by Eminem blasts throughout the arena. White and pink strobe lights flash as Ricky makes his appearance and stands through a cloud of fog bouncing on his toes with a sly grin on his face. He makes his way toward the ring high fiving fans along his route. He circles the ring, before reaching the far corner. Slowly he climbs up the steps and leans his back against the ropes, bouncing against them a few times with his arms wrapped over top of them before spinning on his heels and hopping into the ring.
J.A. Aldridge: And their opponents! Introducing first, from Staten Island, New York! Weighing in at 227 pounds… RICKY VAAAAAALEEEEROOOOOOO!!!
Ricky spins around in the center of the ring with his arms extended out, absorbing the crowd's cheers. He walks towards the ropes on the far side of the ring and simply smiles. The music slowly quiets down as Ricky turns and leans against the ropes closest to the entranceway, awaiting his partner.
Kris Cruise: It’s been a long time. But it’s great to finally see Rickyl Valero back in an FGA.
Stephy Auger: Mmm hmm, I’ll say.
Kris Cruise: Stop it!
Stephy Auger: I mean… it’s great to see someone of his caliber back. He’s a world renowned star. He’s won titles all around the globe. Valero’s racked up some miles on that gorgeous body of his. But the man can still go. It’s gametime, Cruise!
The hard bass beat of Run The Jewels' "Blockbuster Night Part I" vibrates throughout the arena as the crowd immediately look down the aisle way in anticipation of the man about to step out from behind the curtain.
'Bunches and bunches
Punches is thrown until you’re frontless
Oodles and oodles
Bang bullets at suckers' noodles
Last album? Voodoo!
Proved that we was fuckin' brutal
I’m talking crazy, half past the clock is cuckoo'
As soon as Killer Mike spits the first words of the song, "Indestructible" Owen Gonsalves steps through to a pop from the audience as he flips up the collar of his old mentor's ring jacket and begins to analyse the crowd.
J.A. Aldridge: And his partner, from MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA!
Once El-P's verse begins, The Submission Alchemist immediately begins to walk down towards the ring, mouthing the words to the song as he acknowledges a few of the folks in the front row.
'Look at these kiddies, Mike
I'm a rat-a-tat 'em for living
I deal in dirty work
Do the deed and then dash
Ditch 'em'
J.A. Aldridge: Weighing in at 205 pounds! He is “Indestructible” OOOOOWEEEEEN GONSAAAAAAALVES!!!
Having made his way to the bottom of the ramp, Owen starts shadow boxing to the camera at the bottom of the ramp before throwing an elbow in the camera's direction as El-P says 'ditch 'em'. Owen climbs on the apron and up on the second turnbuckle, looking out to the audience before hopping in the ring. The music slowly fades as Owen removes his ring jacket and begins to warm up, awaiting for the match to start.
Stephy Auger: Jesus, Cruise, has this guy ever lifted a weight in his life? I bet I can bench more than him!
Kris Cruise: Don’t let Gonsalves lanky figure fool you. The man is stronger than he looks. But strength is not his game. Mat wrestling and submissions are his specialty. He can break an opponent down limb from limb like no other. There has been a lot of hype surrounding Gonsalves over the year.s But last year is when things really starting taking off for the Aussie superstar. Now, he finds himself making his FGA debut in his home country in 2017.
Stephy Auger: But is this too much pressure for him? Some guys aren’t meant for these big moments. Can he handle this? If he mentally and emotionally up for the challenge.
The bell sounds as Gonsalves and Anders circle the ring before locking. But Gonsalves quickly stops as he turns and acknowledges the crowd.
Crowd: OWEN! OWEN! OWEN! OWEN! OWEN!
Kris Cruise: This crowd is nearly blowing the roof, Stephy.
After jockeying for position, Anders begins to bring Gonsalves down to the canvas with a top wrist lock. But after bridging back and placing his head on the canvas, Gonsalves begins to slowly bridge back up to his feet. Anders then quick doubles him over with a knee to the midsection before applying a side headlock. Gonsalves then tries to shove Anders off of him, but it’s to no avail. After grabbing Anders around the waist and moving a couple of paces back, Gonsalves goes to shove Anders off of him. But Anders drops down to a knee while keeping the hold applied. She can be seen shaking her head at Gonsalves’ attempt at escaping. The ref gets down and asks Gonsalves if he wants to give up. But Gonsalves refuses.
Crowd: OWEN! OWEN! OWEN! OWEN! OWEN!
Gonsalves begins to feed off the crowd’s energy and fights back to a vertical base. But before Gonsalves can try and escape, Anders quickly performs a standing switch, transitioning behind Gonsalves and applying a hammerlock. She then spins Gonsalves around and goes for the Black Song (hammerlock spun into a lariat). But Gonsalves is able to duck underneath, swings around from behind, grabs Anders and then knocks her down with the Darkest Lariat (rear wristlock spun into a short-arm lariat). He makes the cover.

Anders kicks out.
Gonsalves picks up Anders by the left arm and slowly wrenches it. After trying to yank the arm from out of its socket, Gonsalves delivers another arm wrench. Anders can be seen cringing in pain while the ref asks her if she wants to give up. But The Mindkiller refuses to submit. She then rolls forward, turns over on her knees and brings Gonsalves down with a single leg takedown. She then dives over and applies a grounded side headlock. But Gonsalves is able to escape and reverse into a grounded hammerlock.
Kris Cruise: Gonsalves getting the better of Anders so far.
Stephy Auger: Yeah, “so far”...
The ref asks Anders if she wants to give up. When Anders refuses, Gonsalves delivers a handstand into a falling knee drop to the hammerlocked arm. The ref checks back in with Anders after Gonsalves applies more pressure to the hold. When Anders refuses, Gonsalves delivers yet another handstand into a falling knee drop. He then quickly pulls Anders over and makes the cover.

After Anders gets her left shoulder up, the crowd cheers as Gonsalves quickly takes the arm and tries to apply a kimura. But Anders is quick to scoot over and places her foot across the bottom rope, forcing the ref to start a five count.
Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…
Gonsalves lets go. He then steps back towards the center of the ring and motions for Anders to get up.
Kris Cruise: Anders is fortunate to have gotten to the ropes as fast as she did.
Stephy Auger: You know she’s not going to appreciate another grappler trying to go after her arm.
Anders can be seeing pulling herself up using the ropes. She then shakes off her left arm as she stares over at Gonsalves. When Anders is ready, she makes her way off the ropes and begins circling the ring. Her and Gonsalves size each other up before going for a lock up. But Anders is quick to switch it up, blasting Gonsalves with a shoot kick to the right thigh. While Gonsalves is momentarily stunned, Anders quickly takes him by the wrist and delivers an arm wrench. Anders cinches her hands around his wrist and delivers another arm wrench… and another… and another. When Gonsalves refuses to quit, Anders delivers a hard yank of the arm, sending Gonsalves down to a knee as the crowd boos. After Gonsalves gets back to a vertical base, Anders tries to yank the arm from out of its socket, which brings Gonsalves back down to a knee. While Gonsalves is cringing in pain, Anders adds insult to injury by repeatedly smacking him across the back of the head, which elicits a chorus of boos from the crowd. Gonsalves responds by rolling forward, leaning back, kipping up and reversing into an arm wrench of his own. But Anders is just as quick to respond as she sends Gonsalves crashing down to the canvas with an arm wringer, causing the crowd to boo. As Gonsalves gets up on his knees, Anders points to a random fan before darting into the ropes, coming back and knocking Gonsalves down with a Penalty Kick. The crowd erupts with boos as she makes the cover.

Kris Cruise: Anders isn’t winning over any fans here tonight.
Stephy Auger: As if she cares. She’s got her core followers.
Kris Cruise: Yeah, and they’re as delusional as she is.
Stephy Auger: I’m telling her you said that...
Anders brings Gonsalves back to his feet and delivers a series of short-arm shoulderblocks to his right arm. She then raises Gonsalves’s arm before delivering an armbreaker across her shoulder. The move causes Gonsalves to stagger over towards the ropes. Anders then heads over and pushes Gonsalves’s upperbody between the middle & top ropes. She then takes Gonsalves by the right arm and wraps it up around the top rope with a hammerlock. The ref gives her until the count of five to break the hold.
Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…
Anders breaks the hold by stepping back and delivering a hard front kick to the hammerlock’s arm. As Gonsalves stands doubled over between the middle & top ropes, Savannah Taylor runs along the apron and nails him across the side of the head with a yakuza kick. The crowd erupts with boos.
Kris Cruise: What the heck was that for?
Stephy Auger: An opportunity too good to pass up?
After Gonsalves falls back down into the ring, Anders marches over and makes the cover.

But Gonsalves reverses, sending Taylor into the ropes. When Taylor returns, Gonsalves sets up for a back body drop. But Taylor is able to counter with a sunset flip. The crowd cheers Gonsalves on as he tries his hardest to regain his balance. Once he does, he reaches down, grabs Taylor by the right wrist, spins around and then drops down into a cross armbar.
Kris Cruise: What a counter by Gonsalves!
Stephy Auger: Quick, Taylor, get to the ropes!
Before Gonsalves can break Taylor’s grip and hyperextend her arm, Taylor quickly scoots herself over towards the ropes and places her right foot under the bottom rope. The crowd boos as the ref is then forced to start another five count.
Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…
Gonsalves lets go and then rolls off of Taylor.
Kris Cruise: Taylor and Anders have once again been saved by the ropes.
Stephy Auger: You act like rope breaks are a bad thing.
Kris Cruise: There’s nothing bad about them at all. All I’m saying is that Gonsalves has caught either Taylor or Anders in a submission early on. The next time, they might not be lucky enough to escape.
After Taylor returns to her feet, she shoots Gonsalves a glance before pointing over at Valero. Gonsalves then points to Valero as he looks out at the crowd. Upon hearing the crowd cheer, Gonsalves obliges. He makes his way over into his corner to tag in Valero. But Taylor quickly runs over and rolls him up from behind with a schoolgirl.

Dare I say they actually get along pretty well!

After scaling to the top turnbuckle, Valero leaps off and goes for Burying The Hatchet (diving double foot stomp). But Taylor rolls out of the way. Kris Cruise: What in the hell is going on here!? Why did Ricky Valero just hop off the apron!?
Stephy Auger: I don’t know, but I don’t mind!
Gonsalves pushes himself off the apron and looks over at Valero. He’s both confused and hurt.
Kris Cruise: Gonsalves is just as confused as everyone else is.
The murmurs turn into waves of boos as Valero looks around at the crowd in disgust.
Kris Cruise: I still don’t understand it! Why would Valero do this to Gonsalves! He’s Gonsalves idol, dammit!
Gonsalves gets back to his feet and heads into the corner. He repeatedly asks Valero, “WHY!?” But Valero just shakes his head.
