There comes a point when a person reaches their breaking point. When someone hears constand words of discouragement and constant words to try and tear them down that they finally snap…
That is exactly what was going on with Ashley.
Being a wrestler for a little near two years, things haven’t exactly always been easy. For as much people as she had support her, somehow the number of people who had issues with her grew by large amounts. For what reason, exactly? Ashley never knew. It was always the same song and dance of people throwing what they thought they new about her personal life at her, or them trying to drown Ashley down with reminding her of her constant bad luck of gaining any gold in her professional career.
To most Ashley Lynn Maldano looked like a fool. A girl with a big ass and rack only to be used for good eye candy in the ring. A girl with big hopes and dreams, but never knew how to execute them. But Ashley? She was much more than that...which is exactly why she snapped out of the spineless jellyfish she once was. To this day a large group of people still don’t understand the sudden attitude adjustment in the Chicago native, and some who once called her a friend even abandoned her. But the very small few that stuck around? They knew who she really was and knew that this was a long time coming.
As Ashley lays on her bed, “She’s Out of her Mind” by Blink -182 is playing in the background. Ashley’s nods her head along to the music, softly humming the lyrics as she looks up, looking at the blonde haired woman sitting on the bed with her, a close friend from back home Amber. As Amber looked at Ashley she tilted her head, looking at her phone screen shaking her head.
“I never noticed how many people didn’t like you…” She laughs looking at Ashley, before scrolling down some more. “Like I thought people in high school hated you...but these people like really hate you! What did you even do to them?!” Amber asks as she was backreading some Twitter banter with Ashley, only leaving a smirking Ashley to shrug her shoulders.
“Girl...I don’t even know. Honestly? I’m used to it. Even before I kicked Tristan’s head in on RISE, way before that people didn’t like me. It’s a constant cycle. But it’s a cycle that’s going to end.” Ashley sits up, kicking her knees up looking at Amber.
“It’s going to end because I’m finally realizing what my biggest mistake is. For so long I’ve been sheltered and never got the space and room to grow like I needed. I haven’t been able to branch out and see what this wrestling world has to offer...which brings me to some big news.” Ashley says, looking at Amber.
Amber sits up looking at Ashley, tilting her head in confusion. “What kind of big news?” She asks, Ashley smirking.
Ashley smiles, before running her fingers through her hair, shrugging her shoulders.
“I had a lot of time to think about what I want and who I wanted to be. I want to be successful but most of all? I want to show everyone who Ashley is. I’m not the Little Hamilton girl anymore. I’m not the timid girl whose going to take jeers and low blows from people that don’t me. Instead? I’m branching out and writing my story. My epic journey. With all the hard work I’ve been putting in lately, with all the drama and all the stress, it’s time for something good to come of my life. I made a decision that will boost my career and showcase my talent, and give me new challenges that I know I’ll be able to overcome. This decision might introduce me to new allies….but it is guaranteed to bring me more enemies than I already have…” A nonchalant smirk crosses Ashley’s face, shrugging off the thought of adding more enemies to her already growing list.
“I had the absolute pleasure of signing a contract with 3GW….and it’s going to be quite the journey. I’m sick of people telling me I’m not good enough and people having in their mind that I’m this epic failure. They clearly don’t know me or pay any attention to me which is fine, I won’t make them go out of their way anymore rather than FORCE people to realize and acknowledge me and my talent. Whether or not people like to admit it, I’m a rising star in this industry. I’m going to make people remember the name Ashley Maldano and make sure they understand that with that name is a girl who will be treated with the respect she deserves and if not? Beat them to a bloody pulp till they do.” She smiles, looking up at her dear friend.
As Amber looks back at Ashley, listening to her former soft and sweet voice going to this blood hungry girl. She nods her head, clapping her hands lightly for her friend.
“Well I for one am happy for you….expanding your environments will be good for you...I just hope you realize it’s not going to be like RISE. People won’t take you as a threat automatically and you won’t be looked at like Nicole’s little sister. Branching out is something that is entirely yours…” She says, only for Ashley to cut her off.
“I know. Nicole is history. Nobody will look at me like her or associate me with her because I’m going to be bigger than my sister ever was. I’m going to be known everywhere and people WILL respect me...but all in due time...” She says smiling, before getting up walking over to the door.
“Amb, things are changing. I’m changing. Times are changing. You either roll with the changes or let them swallow you up...and I’ve already made my decision. I’m going to be controlling the change soon enough…”
