“I ain’t gonna lie,” Peaches starts as she sits down on a white plastic lawn chair, situated on the balcony of hers and Dan’s home in Raleigh, “it’s been a bittersweet few weeks. On the bright side me and Dan went an’ became two time champions together; we got our belts back down in Texarkana, an’ sure we mighta disrupted the future or summit…” Peaches shrugs, cracking open a bottle of Corona as she does so, “…I ain’t too sure.”
“But then I went an’ lost to Macy at the Red Carpet Rumble. Which sucked,” Peaches stresses the word, “but congrats, Macy, you did it. Proved me wrong an’ all that. An’ then I lost in the rumble itself, which sucked even harder! But at least I got to eliminate Macy, an’ Jaelynn…” she smirks, giggling to herself before taking a deep swig of beer, “…apologies to you, bro, for costing your future ex-wife the Paramount championship, but you can do better anyway.” She references her friend, Dom Harter’s, recent infatuation with Jae Ramsey.
“But movin’ on; I’ve gotta look forward to a match against Mercy Williams, an’ that’s something I’m kinda looking forward to. Have been we first met down here in LDFC,” Peaches nods, “but I ain’t gonna lie to you, Mercy, most of what I know ‘bout you is second hand information. Passed to me by people like my friend, Dommy, an’ he ain’t always too good with the details, so I’ll gloss over most of that…” Peaches winces as she sips on her beer again; Dom told her about that night he nearly got to sleep with Mercy during a drinking session after an FGA show, even if he omitted certain details. Like him moaning Annie’s name. “An’ I ain’t even gonna judge you for hangin’ round people like the Baroness. We’ve all got friends that we shouldn’t be hangin’ round with. Hell, people used to say that ‘bout me an’ Dom.”
“The thing I’ve got a small problem with, Mercy … Recently someone said that I’m one of them Kill ’Em With Kindness kinda wrestlers.” Peaches shrugs, “Whatever. I can get mean when I wanna, but I ain’t gonna go ‘round staying in a state of constant anger. That ain’t healthy. An’ I ain’t gonna go round taking shots at anyone an’ everyone. There’s only certain people who need to be mocked.”
“Now when someone says that us Kill ’Em With Kindness wrestlers are everywhere, or that we ain’t got a place in pro wrestling? That gets stuck in my craw. ‘Cause when I look round the companies I follow now, when I look round at my friends and their friends, when I look at you, Mercy, I see a bigger problem. The Good Girls Gone Bad type that one day decide they ain’t care ‘bout the fans respect no more. They ain’t wanna get cheered. They’re tired of getting disrespected ‘cause they’re apparently too nice. An’ maybe you had reasons for doing what you did, Mercy, I dunno.”
“Ain’t my place to judge you.”
“Ain’t my place to worry ‘bout why you do whatever you do.”
“I just gotta try an’ show you why it ain’t gonna make a lick of difference. You see, you can change your attitude, Mercy, an’ you can try an’ get one over on people like Emily Carter ‘cause she’s more popular, or more successful than you. ‘Cause she gets the attention an’, what, people still look at you like you’re just a pair of tits?” Peaches looks down at her own chest and shrugs, “Can’t say I know the feeling, to be honest. But you’re proud of ’em, an’ more power to you, Mercy. Gotta love your own body, gotta be proud of who you are.”
“All that, though? I’ll still think of you as the woman who I used to train with. Who competed for the Carolinas Cup against Adam Adonis. It ain’t like you sold your soul or nothing. Ain’t like you aligned with the devil. You’re still you, an’ you’ve still got an ass that needs kicking! An’ that’s where I come in. I ain’t gonna kill you with kindness, Mercy, but I’m gonna bring an asswhooping to that ring on Thursday night an’ it’s all for you!” Peaches downs the rest of her beer and heads back inside as the scene comes to an end.
