“When God closes a door, He opens a window,” Annie says as she stands in front of a wall of lockers. With her hair cascading down across her shoulders and the FGA Mid-Atlantic Legacy Championship slung over one of them, beneath which Annie is wearing her new ‘Naughty or Nice’ t-shirt. She’s looking down at the floor, pouting softly as she speaks again. “Like, people have been telling me that for years now. When I didn’t get picked for the cheerleader squad in high school so my uncle agreed to train me to become a wrestler. When one of my ex-boyfriends dumped me, so I got to meet the guy who’s now my husband. When that first company rejected me ‘cause I didn’t have enough experience, so I went to HKW to develop some more…”
“Or when Cordy Stevenson became the new FGA World Champion, so I went after the Mid-Atlantic Legacy title again.” Annie looks upwards towards the camera; she’s trying to look stern or commanding, but the biting of her bottom lip betrays her. “It’s why I sold my soul to the devil, or whatever you’re all calling it. When the Small Boob Wrecking Crew reunited…” she giggles behind a raised hand, “…but Salem got off light compared to some others!” Annie winks at the camera, hinting at the fate that befell Levi Chambers at the last NKP Supercard, when Annie became the Grand champion.
“And you wanna accuse me of stealing the belt…” Annie scoffs.
“Did I lure you into the room, Salem?” Annie asks, incredulously. “Nope.”
“Did I attack you, huh? Nope.”
“It wasn’t even me who came up with the plan,” Annie admits with a shrug of the shoulders, “I just benefitted from it. And maybe you can’t understand why I did it. Maybe you dunno why I’d reunite with The Crimson Baroness. Maybe I can’t even explain it…” she murmurs before falling silent for a moment, “…but it’s not important right now.”
“Nuh uh. Right now the only thing that matters to us is this belt,” Annie states, before slapping the belt on her shoulder, “‘cause for you it’s a symbol of everything you’ve worked for here. From your battles against Jimmy Page, your shot against Izzy earlier this year. Your failed attempt at the Dynamic Duos…” Annie pauses, “…but look at your partner, we can’t blame you for that one. And for that time I hit you in the face with this very belt…” she looks down towards the title, tracing a finger along the name plate that still reads ‘Salem Cartier’, “…my belt.”
“And I need to win on Saturday night. Not just ‘cause I wanna see my name on it again. ’Cause I was tryna make something of this belt before you took it from me; I was tryna become the best ever Mid-Atlantic Champion, and make it a belt that people wanna win. Even if its Julian Tijerina and he doesn’t even know who stole the belt the night before!” Annie rolls her eyes, “Not that I stole it! ‘Cause I didn’t! But I know Dom’s gonna be knocking on my door after I beat you on Saturday night, Salem, and I’m gonna have a Tenacious Little Bastard coming after my belt when I become a two time champion. But that’s just, like, a small price to pay for beating you.”
“And it’s not just ’cause I haven’t ever won at Final Frontier and I wanna break my break my duck. Losing the tag titles in 2014, or failing to win them last year…” Annie pauses, sighing softly as she looks back at the camera, “…and it’s not even ‘cause I hate you, Salem. You’re just, like, in the way. You stopped me from achieving what I wanted to achieve. And I had to get back at you! I had to do something to … escalate it.”
“That’s probably why we took the belt from you that night after Vertigo. And why I challenged you to this ladder match…” Annie smiles ever so slightly, “…’cause it’s gonna be worth the risk. To see you fail against another member of the Small Boob Wrecking Crew-” she winks at the camera, “-and see you fail to defend your title. It’s why I’m risking my body four days before another one of my biggest matches of the year.”
“‘Cause this is my belt, Salem, and I’m gonna do whatever it takes to get it back. Not just in the sense that it’s, like, on my shoulder or around my waist. But so I can say that I’m the FGA Mid-Atlantic Legacy Champion again. So my name is on this belt. ‘Cause I’ve achieved so much this year, Salem, and I wanna end the year on a high note….” Annie states, vehemently, “…this time last year I was down and out. I’d lost my title, I’d lost my tag team partner, GFP was on hiatus for the Glory Cup.”
“But I picked myself up.” Annie jabs at her chest. “Me and The Crimson Baroness went on to become NKP Tag Team Champions. When me and Emily and Molly won the SSWA Titans of Trios tournament, and we won the trios title there. And I beat Izzy and Savannah at the Gold Rush Rumble, and become the FGA Mid-Atlantic Legacy Champion. All that basically by the time I turned twenty-one!”
“This is the year that I got married. This is the year I posed for Playboy, and became Miss July 2016. That I opened my first Brutal Brew right here in Philadelphia. That I starred alongside my best friend in our first movie, Nothin’ But Net. And that I became the owner of an LFL team in. And I did all that while still wrestling at the highest level. While still bettering myself every day. And the proof of all that is when I got voted as a member of the Wild Circuit Media Tag Team of the Year! When I became a singles champion here in FGA. I became a World champion over in Germany…”
“But I lost to you.” Annie states before sighing. “At Retribution, I missed that Ode to Tj and I paid for it! I paid bad! But here we are, two months later, and I’m gonna make up for that mistake. And if that means I’ve gotta keep you down so I can climb that ladder, Salem, then that’s what I’m gonna do. If I’ve gotta take you out, then that’s what I’m gonna do. ‘Cause at Final Frontier I’m not leaving without this belt. I’m not leaving without becoming a two time FGA Mid-Atlantic Legacy Champion. And this Saturday night in Albany isn’t even a case of naughty or nice, ‘cause you’re gonna think I’m the devil when I’m done with you, Salem…” Annie says before walking off screen, bringing the scene to an end.

“Bacon pancakes, making bacon pancakes,” Annie sings, swinging her hips as her oversized hoodie sways from side to side, “take some bacon and I’ll put it in a pancake. Bacon pancakes, that’s what it’s gonna make, bacon paaaaancaaaaaakes.” She’s interrupted, however, by a pair of arms sliding around her waist from behind. “Josie…”
“No, cher,” Chase answers, before kissing his wife on the cheek. “She’s still sleeping upstairs.”
Annie giggles as Chase kisses her again. “I thought you’d be tired too…”
“I slept like a baby,” Chase replies, “Have done every night this week, yeah. You spoiling me, cher.” Which is mainly because Annie’s paid her debt for losing a bet with Molly Reid; they placed the same bet on their match at All Star Showdown, except Annie won that time. After the Blackout beat the Divas it was Annie who had to go a week without sex.
“‘Cause I love you, baby,” Annie replies, squirming in his arms as his beard tickles her neck. Chase doesn’t even both questioning it; he might suspect that Annie and Dom were fucking most nights when they were both over in England, a trip she was adamant that Chase didn’t need to make. So he could stay at home and get everything moved into their new home. Which he did with the help of the movers. He even got the Christmas tree set up and decorated just how he knows Annie likes it. “And you deserve it.”
“How’d I get so lucky, hmm?” Chase asks, spinning his wife around as the pancakes sizzle on the stove behind her. The two of them stare into one another’s eyes, smiling to themselves. “You wan’ me to finish those? You go wake Josie up?”
“Okey dokey,” Annie chirps. She gives her husband a quick kiss on the lips before skipping away towards the kitchen door, “oh! Molly’s coming over soon though, so you’re gonna need to make an extra batch.” She waves good bye before heading up the stairs, leaving Chase behind in the kitchen, the smile fading from his face as he realizes he got the raw end of this deal.
