[ Begin Scene I | Focus ]
[ Setting: Herrera Homestead ]
[ Location: Raleigh, North Carolina ]
[ Cast: Dan Herrera, Peaches ]
(Packing my stuff into my overnight bag in the bedroom, I hear Peaches approaching from the living room. She stops at the door, leaning against it’s frame. She watches as I stuff my ring boots into the bag moving over to the close to grab my gear.)
Peaches- You know, you have another day or so before you really need to be ready to go.
(I walk out of the closet with my gear, stuffing it into my bag. I smile at her as I push it into the bag.)
Dan Herrera- Well, you know me. Always preparing for things entirely too early for them. Just my way I guess.
(I turn around and walk towards the dresser behind me pulling open my sock drawer and looking through the mess of clothing laying inside.)
Dan Herrera- Have you seen my lucky socks?
(Peaches laughs as she stands upright off the door frame. She crosses her arms and laughs at me.)
Peaches- You threw them out after your match with Cordy. Remember?
Dan Herrera- Oh yeah, right. Makes sense, they had lost their touch anyways. I guess it’s time to start a new lucky streak. I’ve got to once again claw my way back up to the top of the ladder.
(I grab a pair of socks and fold them inside out before walking over with a few other pairs and place them in my bag. Before I can turn to grab some boxers, Peaches hand rests on top of mine as she puts her arm around the small of my back.)
Peaches- You don’t have to climb anything Dan. You’re already on the top. Champ.
(I take a deep breath.)
Dan Herrera- True, but you saw how close I came to beating Cordy. I’ve got to make sure the next time I’m in a match that close, I finish it off.
Peaches- You’re a tag team champion Dan. All you have to worry about is continuing to wrestle with the vigor and power that you have for the last five months and you’ll do just fine.
Dan Herrera- I just mean when I’m out there on my own. I’m still fighting the same way I was before I retired. Coming within seconds of victory, only for the rug to be pulled out from underneath me.
(I could tell Peaches didn’t like what I was saying. She put a hand on my cheek pulling my face to level with hers and looking into her eyes.)
Peaches- Don’t do this to yourself again.
Dan Herrera- I’m not trying to. Honestly.
Peaches- You came back to tag team wrestle. You’re great at it. Now FGA has been putting you in singles matches, sure. And you were entered into that tournament for the FGA Championship… but that’s not where your focus should be. You said you wanted a chance to show you’re a good singles wrestler. You did. You held in with Cordy, the winner, and almost beat her. You’ve shown it. But don’t let focus on trying to get back to the top of the singles world, knock you off the perch at the top of the tag team world that you already sit on.
(I take a deep breath before sighing. She was right. I came back to tag team wrestle. That’s what I want to do and that’s what Status Quo is great at.)
Dan Herrera- You’re right. Damnit.
(Peaches smirks.)
Dan Herrera- Stop that. Yes I know you always are.
Peaches- As long as you know it. I won’t have to say it.
Dan Herrera- I’m still going to pack this bag. And I will still be ready to beat Jaxson Blade.
Peaches- Didn’t doubt it for a second. Just don’t let your mind worry about what’s after him. You’ve got enough on your plate.
Dan Herrera- That’s for sure. Like this challenge from Chandler Scott.
Peaches- Yeah… that’s something you should think about.
Dan Herrera- I already did… and I’ll make my thoughts known at Vertigo.
Peaches- Good. Now I’m going back to Fuller House.
Dan Herrera- I’ll be there soon.

Jaxson Blade.
Lucky you. You’re the follow up to Cordy Stevenson and Savannah Taylor.
Now, I’ve only seen you in a match a couple times so far. And the third, well we all saw what Cannon did to you backstage. And while I don’t condone his actions and find them repulsive… what he did to you backstage is pretty much the amalgamation of what you’ll be getting from me at Vertigo once we stop between those ropes.
You’ll quickly see that I’m not Armageddon. You’ll see the step up in talent from LJ Summers. You’re going up against a man with a myth behind his name here in FGA. And perhaps it’s not the stuff of legends that you’ll get from some of the other greats here in FGA, but it’s a fighting style and past that proves that in singles matches at DVD tapings and Vertigo, I’m one of the toughest fights around.
If you don’t know my past, then you’re probably going to just assume me transitioning from being a tag team champion to fighting you all by myself in the ring will be problematic for me. That would be a mistake. Go back and watch more tape and you’ll see that even though my main success in FGA has been with Status Quo, in singles fights I’ll still put you down quickly if you overlook me.
I called you lucky earlier because you drew me after two tough losses. There’s no real luck behind my sarcasm. The simple fact of the matter is that this losing streak is not going any further than it already has. Whether it was you, Molly Reid, or Johnny Cannon. My fire and drive to make sure my hand was raised at the end of this match would all be the same.
You’ve not been here long, so losing this match will not be the end of the world for you. But for me, losing again would be just another setback that I can’t afford right now. Especially when I have people like Chandler Scott calling me out. I’m not going into a possible fight with one of my least liked co-workers one a three loss streak.
No, it’s time to get back on the wagon and keep it moving. It’s time to move forward with confidence knowing that after our match I’ll be in a good place before fighting one of my most heated rivals.
You don’t know what I’m talking about right now, then watch Vertigo and find out. Besides my match I’ve got something to say.
But first, it’s you and me Jaxson. Time to take the gloves off and fight til the final bell. Just know this, you’re in my ring and I’m the boss. Get ready to be handed your walking papers.
Thank you, That is All.
