Echo Rigby sat cross-legged on the floor, listening to records. She bobbed and weaved her head while the music filled the speakers.
Echo opened her eyes and gestured her hands toward the camera.
“That’s a song called ‘Friends’ by Led Zeppelin, man. The lyrics are as relevant today as in 1970. I sit here thinking about this particular match this week, I’ve been thinking a lot about friendship; the ties that bind and that can also sometimes be broken. I’m facing Mercy Williams this week. And on the last Challenge she had one heck of a blow up with a lady I consider a pretty good friend: Emily Carter. This is the second such time that Mercy has blown up at Emily like that. I mean, we all saw the match and Emily didn’t mean to knock you off that apron, Mercy. Her Irish whip got reversed and there was really nothing she could do. She didn’t check on you, she couldn’t, she was fighting for her life in there. And Emily prevailed, and I don’t think all that much was hurt on Mercy but her pride.”
Echo just shook her head, placing her fingertips together almost in a prayer pose.
“I really thought you two were cool, even patched things up after the first spat. But I guess we can draw conclusions as to what Mercy’s so-called nickname “The Emerald Jewel” really pertains to around here: emerald referring to green, as in green with envy. And the jewel part I guess means you’re something of high value amidst all the other common things in 3GW. Well man, I’m kinda common and I don’t have a problem with it, not one bit.”
She shrugged.
“So Miss Emerald Envious, what does it all mean? Are you envious of Emily and all her success in LDFC, envious of her winning your tag match while you were on the outside? A lot of times you can’t sweat the small stuff, and it’s all small stuff, dude. Sometimes you got to chill. But since I’m facing you, you seem like you don’t want to chill. You want to blow off steam? You want to build your own empire and leave Emily and Echo in the dust? Is it a case of Mercy showing no mercy to the common folk of 3GW? I can’t go for that, man. This aggression will not stand, man! We’re only on this rock for a short amount of time, let the anger subside. We got to pull those out of the rut that are feeling blue or green or even red. Don’t bring people down to your level because you’re moping. Let’s lift each other and trade some smiles. But I know when the bell rings the time for smiling will end. And my message of love and acceptance must prevail over hate and envy. I’m sticking up for my friend Emily, and if I can’t be your friend than we have to come to an understanding, Mercy. Your methods and your goals will not be achieved, and whatever empire you long to achieve in 3GW will be just an Emerald City… an imaginary place in a childhood fantasy. You need to make peace with that!”

Echo rolled over, her hand striking the nightstand. It was the morning after a big concert in L.A. A bottle feel over, it was green; absinthe.
“Aw, dude… my head. What did I even do? So hungover…”
Recent memories swirled through her mind. She’d struck up conversation with a fellow wrestler who’d ran into some terrible luck. Her twin sister had ran off and gotten married, a huge fight ensuing. Until then the sisters had been basically inseparable, two humans functioning as one entity. Echo had seen all this unfold and her caring nature went out to her, they struck up conversation and fast friendship evolved. Soon her new friend had decided to visit her in L.A. and take in a show. Echo had even inquired about some of her favorite music and performed some covers just for her. Afterwards drinking and dancing had occurred. The rest was a blur.
Echo rolled over and saw the dark-haired female in her bed, head on her shoulder; a moment of surprised awkward realization.
“Hey …”
Her new friend’s name was Minerva Janus.
Echo Rigby sat cross-legged on the floor, listening to records. She bobbed and weaved her head while the music filled the speakers.
Had a friend, she once told me, "You got love, you ain't lonely, "
Now she's gone and left me only looking for what I knew.
So anytime somebody needs you, don't let them down, although it grieves you,
Someday you'll need someone like they do, looking for what you knew.
I'm telling you now, the greatest thing you ever can do now,
Is trade a smile with someone who's blue now,
It's very easy...
Echo opened her eyes and gestured her hands toward the camera.
