“An’ just like that the wind got took outta my sails. Damn,” Peaches states as she slams her fist into her palm, “An’ I mean Damn with a capital D! ‘Cause there I was just enjoying my first singles win since I left Portland Pro – and that’s feeling like a looooong time now…” she pauses, puffing her cheeks out as she exhales. Peaches’ hair looks unkempt as it’s tied up in a bun, and her make up hasn’t been done today either. “…a long, long time. And I remember going through LDFC and ending up 0-4, and that … that was demoralizing, y’know.”
“‘Cause I kept telling myself next time, and it just never came.”
“An’ me and Ashleigh had some success in 2CW, an’ me and Dan won ourselves a title over there. An’ I felt my luck changing. I felt my confidence growing. And I went to Los Angeles nearly two weeks ago, and I faced Jaelynn Ramsey in the first ever match in 3GW.”
“I won the first ever match in 3GW.” Peaches states, boldly and proudly, “An’ at that moment I dunno if I coulda been any happier. ‘Cause that was everythin’ I dreamed it could be, an’ everythin’ I wanted it to be. That moment when the referee raised my hand … I just wondered how am I gonna top this?”
“Always looking to the future, y’know.”
“But I wanted to know who’s next? Who’d I getta face this time? Whose ass needs a good ass kicking, Georgia style? An’ then it happened … I saw my name on the marquee next to Prince MacRear…” Peaches grimaces, gritting her teeth as she stays silent for a couple of moments, “… now that takes the wind outta your sails.”
“You see, me and MacRear ain’t exactly strangers. We’ve done this dance before – on the last LDFC show – and he’ll be happy to tell you how that ended. How he finished his LDFC story by beating me!” She shakes her head, “So you can imagine how I feel goin’ into this one. But I ain’t ‘bout to give in; I ain’t gonna let MacRear get in my head no more than he already has. ‘Cause I know he’s a bigger name in pro wrestling than I am, an’ I know most people are gonna say he’s more talented than I am. An’ most people are gonna look at this match and think he’s got it tied up in a neat li’l ribbon already…”
“But there’s one thing MacRear always says that stuck wit’ me.”
“Nasties…”
“You’ve heard him sayin’ this, ain’t ya? I’m a nasty, you’re a nasty, she’s a nasty – we’re all nasty. The thing is, some of us are nastier than others. An’ growin’ up I wasn’t kinda the tomboy of my group of friends. All rough and tumble, getting’ down and dirty, y’know. An’, the thing is, I ain’t changed all that much since then…” she indicates to her unkempt appearance, “…and MacRear might even be right, I might be nasty. ‘Cause I think I’ve found a way that he won’t even wanna be in the ring wit’ me on Thursday night.”
“An’ if that happens, I’ll apologize to the fans.”
“You see, for the last coupla days I’ve been nasty, an’ I’ve been skipping my evening showers and skimping on some other things too. It ain’t the most popular idea in the house – I’ve even been exiled to the guest room for the week – but I reckon by the time Thursday rolls around I’m gonna have a ripe ol’ stank ‘bout me. My hair might be kinda greasy, my skin might be blotchy or something. But that’s what MacRear’s gonn have to deal with. That’s what he’s gonna have to lay his hands on if he wants to win this one.”
“If he wants to repeat the last time we met then he’s gonna have to get down and dirty too. He’s gonna have to get nasty just the like of us,” Peaches laughs, a wide smile on her face as she grabs up a bottle of Corona from a nearby table before taking a sip, “so here’s to you, MacRear! ‘Cause you’ve inspired me to get in touch with my nasty inner self. I just hope you’re ready for it!” she sips the beer again as the scene comes to an end.
