The Brute Camp
“Hey, uhm- Rex?” With Mason a few steps behind, Becky slowly crept into the office at the Brute Camp, where Rex Evans was lying in a heap on the couch, hood pulled far over his face. “Listen, we know that- that you- that-”
“Rex we’ve given you some space, man, for obvious reasons but… you’re still our trainer,” Mason stepped into the room next to Becky. “And we’ve got our first big title defense soon, so we could use your help. We went to Evan, but he basically just mocked us for our decision.”
“And then disappeared. But the one helpful thing he did do, was to remind us that we’re walking right into your battlefield,” Becky carefully sat down on the end of the couch, placing a hand on Rex’s calf.
“Yeah, and we don’t know the first thing about how to survive a damn cage-” before he can even say the word match, Rex’s hand shoots up to pull of the hood. His ears perk up as if the words were music to his ears, and then he carefully sat up, eyes flickering between his two young protégés. “-match.”
“I’ll get you ready,” the faint semblance of a smirk pulled at the corner of Rex’s mouth before he pushed past Mason towards the ring. Becky stood up with a glimmer of hope in her eyes, and a smile. She nodded, nudging Mason after him.

While it wasn’t the victory I was hoping for, I believeee wrestling Prince MacRear to a time limit draw counts for somethinggg. Allll by myself, in the middle of that ring, I took him to his limit. I had him flustereddd, I had him hurt, I was going to beattt him. So to anyone out there who was still under the impression that I was the weak link, that I was just a pretty face and bubbly attitude to bring attention to the team, you’re wrong. And I’m just going to keep on proving it to you.
The past several weeks we have had a lot on our minds, the both of us. I’m not making excusesss. We dropped the ball against the Systemic. We dropped the ball against Keegan and the Baroness. We’re not happy about it, not proud of it, but we’re nottt going to hide from it either. Because we haven’t just been thinking about how to beat the competition, about what to do the next time we’re in the ring, about how to insure that these straps stay right where they belonggg - around our waists. We’ve also been trying to figure out who we are.
Last week when I was out there doing battle with one of the best wrestlers in the Lion’s Den, I started to feel it. I started to figure out who I ammm. I’m not going to be held back by petty abuse from someone who’s salty that everyone likes meee more than herrr. I’m not going to be held back by the spineless sneak attacks of someone who’s jealousss he’s not as prettyyy as me. I’m going to keep my head high. I’m going to keep learning about this business, about my partner and about myself, and I’m going to keep evolvinggg. I’m going to keep rising to the challenge.
And right now, the challenge in front of us, is stepping into a steel cage for the first time in our careers, against two people that have already beaten us, with our APEX Tag Team Championships on the line. That’s a pretty big challenge, but we’re prepared. We’re going to keep preparing, every second we get, until that door locks behind us and it’s just the four of us inside those walls.
We might like to play by the rules, but in that cage there are no rules. In that cage, there is no safe place, there are no limits. It’s going to be an even playing field. And we’re going to show you that we’re not as weak as you want to make us out to be. We’re going to show you that those tag team titles are right where they belong.
Then we’re going to take them home with us, while you try to figure out what went wrong.
