Nest looks down from his tree. “Just finished digging a brand new grave. Right next to Princess and Hana’s. Adjacent to Tillman’s and not too far away from where Butcher and Skylar lie, resting in peace. Or in pieces, because I’ve destroyed every single one of them. If not the body in its flesh…”
Nest smiles. “These graves are filled with every broken promise that the aforementioned made. Every thought of knocking me out of this tree lies there. The championship aspirations of every LDFC student, no matter what class, also lies down there. So what exactly do you want from me Emily? It’s not like you’re saying anything that’s different from those who have come before you. The patronization of my dominance. No one has to say how good I am, because everyone knows I’m only going to get better. Next it’s the fable about how you’ve dealt with your fair share of adversity and how it’s only right that you get your comeuppance.” Nest tilts his head, stroking his beard. “I wasn’t aware that dealing with training school bullies was that dire of a hardship. I’ve gone through things that would break your heart in half, to the point where you’d be just like me: spending your time away from the gym in a graveyard. Your squabbles with Baroness and the favoritism shown by Bond isn’t struggle. It’s petty high school drama…”
Nest chuckles.
“I’m surprised you found your way out of the sandbox and into my domain. My Nest. You spent your first few months here more concerned with whose bed Jensen Banks was getting into than your own training. You spent the next few months after that, desperately trying to get a fanbase to invest in you…” Nest continues to stroke his beard. “Now you’re one of FGA’s biggest stars’ little sister. You wanted that target on your back. Anyone who’s followed the career of Chandler Scott knows that he has more enemies than friends, rather he’s trying to play his little road to redemption now or not. The majority of people, myself included, can see right through it. Just as we see right through you.”
The APEX Champion folds his arms and leans his head back against the tree. “You don’t respect me for what I’ve done here. My indifference to you and everyone else has always made you resentful towards me. You begrudgingly give me my just due, because you have no other option. All the while you’ve been plotting to take my spot, thinking you could knock me off just off of will power and determination alone. Well I’m sorry to inform you that everything about me is real. There’s nothing fairytale about what I do in that ring, and just because you have the heart doesn’t mean you necessarily have what it takes.”
“I eat, sleep, and breathe wrestling. There’s nothing in my personal life that takes me away from this. Always focused. I don’t concern myself with the gossip going around the school halls. You may have felt slighted by how I’ve ignored you.” Nest shrugs. “Anything you have to say to me, translate it into ring action because that’s the only thing that speaks to me. If Jimmy Page taught you anything, he should’ve taught you that everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth. I’m sure you’ve been watching my matches obsessively, looking for my weaknesses. You’re in the gym doing double time, trying to get in shape.”
Nest laughs.
“But look at me. It’d take you 45 ribeye steaks, 54 tons of iron and a sweet beard to even look half my size. You must understand that you’re not only one around here with a story. You’re not the only one with something to prove. I’m far from ready to give up this championship because it’s all I ever had. You? You’ll be ok. Maybe start doing SSWA shows on the side to gain more traction. Or you could just say screw the system, like the The Systemic and nepotism your way to FGA. I don’t have the luxury and I don’t need to go anywhere else because I was able to make a name for myself right here in my own backyard. You’re going to have to pry this out of my cold dead hands if you want it.” Nest shakes his head. “Losing to you would disrespect every other challenger that’s fallen before me. From MacRear to Shintaro. You’re not even remotely close to that league of warrior. Your jubilant confidence is disgusting because nothing about you has shown that you’re ready to carry this belt and this school on your back. You just want to be able to say you’ve beaten me.” Nest laughs again.
“Well Nest Assured it ain’t happening.”
