“I was asked once,” Peaches starts as she sits down on the balcony, looking out over the Raleigh skyline as the sun is just beginning to set in the distance, “why did I bother coming to LDFC? ‘Cause I’m one of those who ain’t in my rookie year, I ain’t just learning to wrestle like some people. I kinda wish I was, ‘cause after being at LDFC these last few months I’d have loved to be here back when I was just starting out.”
Peaches laughs dryly before sipping on her bottle of Corona. Her dirty blonde hair is tied back in a ponytail, the tiredness of a hard day’s training evident on her face as she looks towards the camera once again. “I remember my big break back in Alpha Entertainment, back in 2014, back when I was Astronotix – but most of you might not remember that. It lasted all of two months, and I was overshadowed by the likes of Myke Adams, Aaron Blaize, Robb McBride, even Tara Blackhart.”
“Then it closed down suddenly,” Peaches takes another gulp of her drink, “and I had to find new work. Maybe I was demotivated by the failure of my big break, but after that I went to FGA to be a valet for my boyfriend; I stood in that corner when Dan, Cordy, and Cindy took on the Infinite Empire; when Dan came runner up in the Gold Rush Rumble; when Dan and Hadley were in Dynamic Duos last year…”
“But I wasn’t the one wrestling. And people told me that I was a waste of space; they said I was a no good stoner who failed as a wrestler.” An involuntary roll of the eyes. “So I heard about Portland Pro opening their doors to outsiders for the first time … it was a bit of travel every week but I tried it. I picked myself up by the boot straps and I shook off that ring rust that built up over the year I stood in the corner.”
“Won some, lost some. Became the Queen of Yesteryear when I won a battle royal, choked when the big title matches came, even wrestled in a hundred light tube match of all things. But I never did learn to duck those discus elbows-” she’s referring to the finishing moves of Xander Shaw and Jackie Fowler, both of whom used said move to defeat her, “-but now we’re all on furlough. And I needed a new opportunity.”
“And I ain’t gonna lie, I wanted to go to FGA. I want the same damn thing all of the other people at LDFC want, and that’s to one day headline Final Frontier or All Star Showdown. And I coulda used Dan as a way to skip the line, but I wanted to earn my place there,” Peaches admits with a shrug, “and that got me mocked by the likes of Terrence Tillman. Tryna make a fool of me ‘cause I’m working to earn my place, ‘cause my first match back I lost to Shintaro Majima. ’Cause Skylar Cloud felt the need to cost me and Maritza the tag match a couple weeks back.”
“And now the ‘pound for pound best wrestler’ in LDFC wants to put me down before I really get started. Before I find my feet here. ‘Cause I misspoke once? ’Cause he feels threatened? Keegan’s wrestled around the country before, The Baroness works in Japan or Germany, MacRear was in HKW before he was here. But you took exception to me…”
“I feel special, Terry,” she jokes, “that you’d devote so much time and attention to tearing me down. That I get to make my Supershow debut against you, ‘cause you’ve bugged me ever since day one. And right now I want nothing more than to vent all this anger and frustration – and I’ve got lots of ‘em in case you weren’t listening at the beginning – into knocking someone’s block off.”
“You might be one of the biggest names here in LDFC, Terry, but if so you’re a big fish in a small pond. Out there in the ocean you’re shark bait. I’ve fought tougher than you, I’ve fought stronger than you, I’ve fought bigger than you. And no, I ain’t win ’em all. But this Thursday I’m Bound by Honor to make sure you eat crow; to make sure you take back every damn thing you ever said to me; to make you realize you ain’t all that and a bag of chips. You’re damn good, not gonna take that from you, but are you as good as you think? As you claim to be? There’s only one way to find out Terry…” Peaches finishes her drink, winking at the camera before the scene ends.
