With a clink and a rattle, the ice in the shot glass fell to the bottom as Hank places it on the counter. Sitting on a barstool, there were many people around, obviously, since this is a bar doing their own thing as the grizzly veteran keeps to himself which is what he normally does. Throwing his hands up into the air, the bartender comes back and refills his glass and almost immediately; he downs it and then motions for yet another as the bartender obliges. Definitely buzzed, Hank fumbles through his pocket pulling out his phone and setting it up to record. Definitely going to be a lower quality promo once it's uploaded, he didn't care because he doesn't have the money to afford these new fancy phones in the first place.
[- Simmons]: So there was this one time down in South Texas where some scrawny little guy stood in the street, almost blank and emotionless when all of a sudden…
Placing his shot glass down on the counter, he slaps his hands together making a rather loud sound which really adds some flavor to his story.
[- Simmons]: … He got hit by a Mack truck, splattered all over the road and let me tell you, that's one of the most disgusting things that I have ever witnessed in my entire life. Now I know what you're thinking Pedro, what exactly does this story have to do with anything? Well let me tell you, the moral of the story is that when something much bigger hits you with a lot of force? The smaller person or object is going to go down and hard at that!
Grabbing his drink from off of the counter, he takes a small sip of it while pausing for just a moment.
[- Simmons]: Now I know that you have miles of heart, I saw it in your last match but answer me this: have you ever had a man of my size constantly beat you down? Every single time that you get back up, I'm going to put you down and harder than I did the last time; can you say that you're ready for that? I know part of you is going to say yes without thinking about it but I'm telling you, you might want to think about it because whenever you jump at me? I'm going to put you down harder and I'm going to make you regret every single time that you decide to go to the top rope!
Take a good look at me Pedro, I know that I probably don't look like much to you and I'm sure that you're going to be one of those guys who only uses my age against me. Well, be that way if you must but realize something – I am 265 pounds and I have been told that I hit like a Mack truck. So with that knowledge bestowed upon you, how do you think this match is going to go? I understand that we will have two completely different stories, I already expected that and only one of those stories is going to be true; another thing that I expected. However…
Taking a moment to pause, he takes another drink of his alcoholic beverage and then continues to speak.
[- Simmons]: … You have hit a bump in the road as of late and unfortunately for you; this next event isn't looking too great for you either. Yeah I know, I'm just an old man looking to rebuild a foundation that I should've let go of years ago, does that sound about right?
Finishing off his drink, he places the glass back on the counter and steps off of the barstool as to get ready to leave. Pulling out some money, he tosses it on the counter.
[- Simmons]: If that's how you feel young man then let me tell you, you're going to be pleasantly surprised the very moment that you stand across that ring from me and stare into my eyes. I know that I am much older than the guys who are getting their start but you see, back in ‘89? I suffered what I thought was a career ending spinal injury and well, here I am, looking to rebuild what I wanted to build years ago but I didn't get that chance.
Reaching over and grabbing his phone, he heads outside to his truck while still recording.
[- Simmons]: I know that times have changed, I have learned that the hard way but take it from me Pedro – it doesn't matter how big or small that you are because when a Mack truck hits you? You're going to be left in pieces, just the way I'm going to leave you upon my return to this business.
Fade.
