DYNAMIC DUOS TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT (Semifinals)
Status Quo vs. #RubyWay
The lights immediately go out in the arena and the roar of the crowd can be heard.
Suddenly, a haunting yet melodic synthesizer riff plays among the PA system as the crowd can be heard clapping their hands to the beat of the song. Obviously they are aware of the song being played for the entrance. “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” by Journey. Yet, when the smooth vocal harmonies of Steve Perry start singing out, the crowd is still clapping and as the first verse plays, a spotlight comes on near the entrance as Kevin Hardaway is standing there at the ramp, lip-syncing the verse as he’s the one singing it, pantomiming to the crowd
Here we stand
Worlds apart
Hearts broken in two, two, two
Sleepless nights
Losing ground
I'm reaching for you, you, you
As the second verse starts playing though, another spotlight appears on the entrance ramp as Ruby Tyler is standing there. She...is not singing. Actually, she’s absolutely baffled and annoyed by what in the hell is going on. She looks at Kevin and starts arguing with him but as the pre-chorus starts playing, the lights come back on and the both of them walk towards the ring. Kevin walking with a bit more bit in his step, Ruby behind him just casually walking to the ring, obviously wondering where she went wrong in this situation.
J.A. Aldridge: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is a semifinals match in the Dynamic Duos Tag team Tournament! Introducing first, making their way to the ring at a total combined weight of 363 pounds! They are the team of Ruby Tyler and Kevin Hardaway…. #RUBYWAY!
As the chorus hits, Kevin stands on top of the turnbuckle and Ruby just casually enters the ring. She’s ready for the match, sure...she’s just not ready to deal with Kevin in the same corner right now. Kevin hops off the turnbuckle and slaps Ruby’s shoulder, running around in circles around her. If there ever was a definition of these two in a nutshell, this is indeed it. The song ends and Kevin stands next to Ruby, ready to actually talk strategy oddly enough.
Kris Cruise: #RUbyWay will finally be seeing action for the first time in a few weeks as they were the recipients of two byes in the Dynamic Duos Tag Team Tournament. They’re the freshest of the two teams left. But boy do they have quite the task in front of them tonight.
Stephy Auger: Yes they do. They’re well rested. But they might be too rested, you know. All that time away from the ring might have hurt them.
Kris Cruise: I don’t think so at all. They won WLW’s Infinity Gauntlet. They’ve been active. They’re in ring shape and they’re ready to get one step closer to that FGA World Tag Team Title shot!
...Spoken...
"May I remind you again, this is a dream, and in dreams, you can do anything you darn please!"
When the first bass drum thumps, Dan pulls the curtain back and walks out from behind the curtain with his girlfriend Peaches hanging onto his arm. He gives a head nod to the fans before leaning over and giving Peaches a long kiss at the top of the ramp. He then begins heading towards the ring as a spotlight stays on them.
My knuckles have turned to white
There's no turning back tonight
Kiss me one last time
As Dan and Peaches make their way to the ring Dan slaps hands with the fans on one side of the entrance-way while Peaches walks down the other side slapping hands with the fans there. At the bottom of the entranceway, Peaches leans in and gives Dan a peck on the cheek as the pair go their separate ways. Dan gets to the ring and walks up the stairs.
J.A. Aldridge: And their opponents! Introducing first, being accompanied to the ring by Peaches! Residing out of Raleigh, North Carolina and weighing in at 200 pounds… DAN HERRERA!
He swings around the ring post and ducks between the top and middle rope. Peaches on the other hand walks around the ring apron towards the commentary desk where she finds a folding chair waiting for her next to the ring announcer. Once in the ring Dan walks over showing his taped wrists to the referee who nods at him and sends him to his corner. He grabs the ropes on either side of the turnbuckle and leans in with his head down prepping himself for the match to begin.
The lights dim down and take on a purplish hue as a light smoky mist fills the entranceway. The opening to A$AP Ferg's "New Level" cues up.
I’m on a new level
I’m on it, I’m on it
As the beat drops, the crowd gives a loud pop as Cordelia Stevenson emerges from the mist with a bounce in her step and dancing to the music. She comes to a stop atop the walkway, glancing around and taking in the reception before giving the crowd a warm smile. She rolls her neck around before bowing her head and letting her hair fall in front of her face. A few seconds go by before she snaps her head up, whipping her hair back from in front of her face.
J.A. Aldridge: And his partner, from Freeport, Long Island… weighing in at 146 pounds… CORDY STEVENSON!
She continues on down the ramp, working from side to side with a big smile as she slaps the hands of fans along the way. She gets to the ring and hops up onto the apron, mouthing the words and bouncing to the music as she makes her way around the side, towards the middle. She turns and faces her crowd, stretching her arms out to the side and slightly tilting her head backwards as she soaks in their reaction. She gives them an appreciative nod and blows a kiss at them, before stepping into the ring and making her way over towards the opposite turnbuckle. She quickly hops up and holds her arms out, drawing a reaction from that side of the crowd as well. She unzips her hoodie and tosses it away before hopping down and making her way over to her corner as the music dies down.
Kris Cruise: Status Quo have worked their way through the earlier two rounds of this tournament by defeated Team Nox and The Blood Brothers. But they’ll be facing their toughest test in this tournament in #RubyWay.
Stephy Auger: Yes they will. #RubyWay have got a chip on their shoulder. Especially Kevin Hardaway, who feels a certain way about both Dan and Cordy. Word going around is that he felt slighted in favor of them. He felt that he was swept off to the side in favor of them during his last stint here in FGA. Of course, Cordy wasn’t innocent in this, either, as she was throwing shade right back his way as well.
Kris Cruise: Neither side minced words in the buildup to this one. But the time for talk is over. Let’s see which team will be meeting Le Pacte de Immortels in the Final!
The bell sounds as Hardaway and Herrera start things off. The two men circle ring before locking up. After jockeying for position, Dan shoves Hardaway a few steps back. But Hardaway isn’t phased by it. He simply shrugs it off, circles the ring and comes back in for another lock up. After jockeying for position, Hardaway shoves Herrera back a few steps. Dan heads back over to Hardaway and engages in another lock up. After jockeying for position, Hardaway moves Dan across the ring and against the ropes. But after a struggle, Dan switches positions with Hardaway and presses him up against the ropes. Hardaway then rolls over and presses Herrera against the ropes. After a struggle, Dan rolls over and presses Hardaway against the turnbuckles. The ref then heads over and gives both men until the count of five to break the hold.
Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…
Herrera and Hardaway break the hold. But Herrera is quick to give Hardaway a shove. Hardaway takes exception and shoves Dan right back.
Kris Cruise: This one is getting testy already, Stephy.
Stephy Auger: Good!
As Hardaway comes out of the corner, Herrera gives him another shove. Hardaway shoves him right back. He then pops Dan in the face with a right hand. He then nails Dan with a shoot kick to the thigh, followed by a spinning back kick to the gut that doubles him over. He then snapmares Dan down, delivers a stiff kick to the back and takes off into the ropes. When Hardaway returns, he knocks Dan flush against the canvas with a running kick to the chest. He follows up with a jumping knee drop before making the cover.

Kris Cruise: Hardaway’s got Dan Herrera on the floor. Could GTFO~! be next?
While Dan pulls himself up on the outside, Hardaway takes off into the far ropes. When he returns, he motions for GTFO~!. But Dan is quick to move out of the way, which forces Hardaway to put on the brakes.
While Dan paces back and forth on the outside, Hardaway is seen sitting down on the middle rope while waving Dan back into the ring. Dan looks over at Hardaway and doesn’t appear to be amused.
Stephy Auger: Some sass from Kevin Hardaway. I like it, Cruise.
After Hardaway steps back to the center of the ring, Dan climbs up onto the apron and enters back through the ropes. He circles the ring before locking up with Hardaway. After jockeying for position, Herrera moves Hardaway into the corner. The ref then gives them until the count of five to break the hold.
Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…
Both men make a clean break. Dan then tries to lunge in and go for a shoulder thrust, but Hardaway counters with a knee to the chin. He then takes Dan, throws him into the corner and delivers five shoot kicks to the chest. Kris Cruise: Those pointed knee strikes found their mark, but it only got two. You know, you’ve got to wonder which team Le Pacte de Immortels would want to face in the Finals.
Stephy Auger: Clearly Status Quo. If they’re able to get past #RubyWay, that would be three matches they’ve fought in this tournament thus far. Magdalena and Sophie El got a bye in this tournament. But #RubyWay got two, which again makes them the freshest and dangerous team left in this thing.
Ruby picks up Dan and socks him with a right hand. After shaking off the blow, he throws out a right hand of his own. But Ruby ducks and counters with a left hook to the body. She then delivers another chop before whipping him into the corner. Ruby charges into the corner. But Dan turns her around after a boot to the face. As Ruby staggers away from the corner, Dan marches along the ropes and goes to tag in Cordy Stevenson. Ruby goes over to attack. But Dan knocks her down with a shoulder block. Dan goes to follow up with an elbow drop. But Ruby rolls out of the way. Once they both return to their feet, Ruby delivers an arm wrench. But Dan is quick to counter with an arm wrench of his own. The ref then checks in with Ruby and asks if she wants to give up. But she refuses to quit. From there, she rolls forward, leans back, kips up and counters with a leg sweep that knocks Dan down. He then quickly goes and grabs Ruby’s legs to set up for the Texas Cloverleaf. But Ruby’s able to kick Dan off of her. After she returns to her feet, Dan reaches out, wrenches her arm and drags her over into the Status Quo corner before Cordy tags herself in on his back.
Kris Cruise: Cordy’s been dying to get into this one, Stephy.
Stephy Auger: Yes she has. She knows what’s at stake. She was in this exact same position before two years ago and came home empty handed.
Cordy steps in and delivers a kick to the midsection. She then takes Ruby and delivers an arm wrench of her own. But Ruby is able to move Cordy into the ropes before shoving her off of her and into the far ropes. When Cordy returns, Ruby knocks her down with a standing shoulder block. When Cordy returns to her feet, Ruby runs over and flattens her with a big boot. See then heads out onto the apron before climbing up to the top turnbuckle. Once Cordy gets to her feet and turns around, Ruby leaps off and goes for a diving crossbody. But Cordy counters with a dropkick in mid air.
Kris Cruise: What a counter by Cordy Stevenson!
Stephy Auger: But can she capitalize? Look at her, Cruise. She looks spent! They all do, as a matter of fact!
Kris Cruise: A trip to the Finals is on the line! Will it be #RubyWay that faces Le Pacte de Immortels in the Finals or will it be Status Quo?
While Ruby is down, Cordy runs into the ropes. When she comes back, she goes for another rolling senton. But just as Cordy leaps into the air, the crowd cheers as Hardaway knocks her down with a clothesline.
Kris Cruise: Hardaway wasn’t having any of that!
As Hardaway turns around, Dan runs over to attack. So Hardaway dips his shoulder and dumps Dan over the top rope…
… but Dan lands on the apron. So Hardaway runs, hurls himself through the ropes and delivers a spear off the apron that takes both men out after hitting the floor hard. The crowd roars with cheers while both men are down on the floor.
Back in the ring, Ruby and Cordy slowly return to their feet. They trade right hands until Ruby cracks Cordy in the face with a headbutt. Cordy slowly falls to a seated position before falling flat on her back.
Kris Cruise: What a headbutt from Ruby Tyler!
Stephy Auger: She might have just knocked Cordy out cold!
Ruby drops down and makes the cover.

THRE-NO!
Cordy gets her shoulder up.
Kris Cruise: How much closer can you get?
Ruby steps back into the corner and waits patiently for Cordy to get into position. Once Cordy gets up to her knees, Ruby comes from out of the corner and goes for the Dead Aim. But Cordy rolls out of the way. When Ruby turns around, she gets caught flush across the jaw with the Foot Fetish.
Cordy can be seen slowly getting back to her feet as Ruby tries to shake out the cobwebs. Cordy then runs into the ropes as Ruby gets back to her feet. When Ruby turns around, Cordy delivers Head Over Heels. She then drags Ruby into position before stepping out onto the apron.
Kris Cruise: Cordy going for something high risk.
Stephy Auger: She’s looking to put this thing away, Cruise.
Cordy tries to climb up, but Hardaway gets up on the apron and grabs onto her leg. After a struggle, Cordy is able to kick Hardaway off her. Hardaway lands on the floor on his feet. But as soon as he turns around, Dan, with what little he’s got left in the tank, tackles Hardaway down with a spear.
Kris Cruise: Hardaway’s down. Cordy’s now free and in the clear… NO!
Back on the ropes, Cordy can be seen trying to climb to the top turnbuckle. Just then, Ruby scales the turnbuckles and unleashes a flurry of right hands as the crowd cheers. She tries for a superplex, but Cordy blocks. So she goes for another superplex. Same result. She then lets go and throws out a right hand. But Cordy blocks and counters with a forearm strike to the face. She then counters with another forearm strike… and another… and another… and another. The last of which knocks Ruby off the ropes and sends her down to the canvas.
Kris Cruise: Ruby’s knocked down! Hardaway and Herrera are still down on the floor! Cordy’s still on the top! But look at all the energy she exerted just to avoid that superplex. What does she have left in the tank? She’s got Ruby right where she wants her.
Stephy Auger: But how many times have we thought that in this match? How many times have we thought that the match was over, only for one of these grapplers to roll out of the way or one of their partners end up making the save.?Cruise, this isn’t over until the ref slaps the mat for the third and final time.
Once Cordy finally climbs up onto the top turnbuckle, she flips off and connects with a 630 Senton to cheers from the crowd.

“New Level” blasts over the PA to an explosion of cheers.
J.A. Aldridge: Here are your winners, STATUS QUO!
The ref kneels down and raises Cordy’s arm. But she’s too spent to celebrate the win.
Kris Cruise: What a battle this match was. These two fan favorites went out there and left it all in the ring. All four competitors should be proud of the performance that they gave in the ring. #RubyWay showed why they are regarded as one of the best teams going today. Unfortunately for them, Cordy Stevenson and Dan Herrera had their number here tonight. This match could’ve gone either way. The margin for error was extremely small. In the end, Status Quo picked up the win and now are finals are set. Cordy Stevenson and Dan Herrera vs. Lady Magdalena and Sophie El! One of these teams will be your 2016 Dynamic Duos Winner! One of those teams will be challenging for the World Tag Team Championship at All-Star Showdown V!
