[Congrats!!!]
[Attagirl! Nice work out there.]
[Ohaider number one contender.]
Molly smiled as she read the congratulatory texts on her phone. There weren’t a ton, but there were enough from her close friends to make her smile. Molly locked her phone and tossed it on the bed beside her. She lay down and looked up at the roof of the plane, before rolling over and looking out the window at the dark sky.
She was on her jet, flying across the Atlantic Ocean on the way to the United Kingdom. Dom Harter was also on board, having accepted her invitation to fly with her overseas as they were both attending their friends’ Lacey and Mia’s wedding. Molly hoped part of the reason he agreed was because he enjoyed spending time with her, although she was sure some of it was just out of convenience of not having to fly commercial. Either way, it was nice. Someone to hang out with and talk to on a long flight. But first it was just lie down and rest time. Molly’s body was still sore from flying back from Japan and then wrestling a match against Nero, and immediately hopping back in a plane.
*No Flex Zone!*
Molly’s phone started to play her ringtone, as she scrambled to roll over and answer it. She found it amidst the blankets and quickly swiped and answered it. “Hello?” she spoke into the phone.
“Hey there MALcontent-der,” Molly cringed at the forced joke by her friend Anna on the other end of the line. “I’ll show myself out,” Anna added on at the end, fully aware of how terrible that was.
“That was so bad it gave me cancer,” Molly joked in response.
“Yeah, yeah, it was bad. But anyways, congrats! Must feel pretty good eh?” Anna asked, adding her Canadian eh at the end of the question.
Molly smiled as she thought about the match. A few minutes before, Annie announced that Molly’s match against Nero would decide the number one contender for her Mid-Atlantic Legacy Championship. Molly went on to beat Nero with an Aaron Donald-strength spear and earn the right to call herself number one contender. “Thaaaaanks Banana,” Molly replied, “I was pretty stoked just to get the chance, means at least someone in management likes me.”
“I’m sure they love you!” Anna exclaimed on the other end. “You’ve been pretty successful for them and you’re popular. So they’re rewarding you with a title shot. Probably.”
Molly smiled, “Thanks Anna. I’m just excited to have the chance.”
“Plus, you now you’ve got a chance to take out all of your Annie frustrations on Annie, right?” Anna questioned.
Molly paused for a moment. She didn’t really want to get into a big Annie discussion with Dom nearby. She didn’t want Annie to know about anything, and if Dom found out, Annie would be soon after. “Yeah...hey look I’m just on a flight to England and should probably sleep. I’ll call you tomorrow to talk more about it?”
“Sure thing. Congrats again Molly. You deserve it!” Anna proclaimed loudly.
“Thanks Anna,” Molly said, smiling as she hung up the phone. She threw it back in bed and lay down, once again staring out at the sky.
It wasn’t even that she was mad at Annie or anything. She just had this weird sense about things. Molly just didn’t know where Annie and her stood anymore. Some days it seemed like normal, but other days there was something off. Especially the other day, when something happened to Annie, and all Molly did was ask her if she was ok and Annie somewhat snapped at her. Obviously something happened because she had some big talk with Fel, and then Dom and Chase had their crazy thing at At All Costs. Annie said it was something about Dom saying something about Chase’s grandma but Molly didn’t buy that for even a second. All of that added up to something huge. Molly suspected Dom did or said something inappropriate to Annie and she told Chase, but she didn’t really know. She wasn’t going to push it either. She wanted Annie to tell her because she wanted to tell her, not because Molly asked her to. If something happened to Molly, she would tell Annie about it right away. Although now, maybe not. It just all seemed a little off to Molly, and she wasn’t sure what to do.
Not to mention the fact that this was a chance for Molly to sort of break out of a shell that people had unfairly put on her. For the last little while, people had been insulting Molly about Annie. Calling Molly her stalker, a wannabe, etc. All things that anyone who actually knew Molly knew weren’t true. But for those who were uncreative and wanted an easy way to insult her without having to actually think to come up with something clever, that’s what they reached for. It bugged Molly simply for how ridiculous it was. Annie was her best friend, of course they’d be similar. But Molly was older and had been wrestling for longer. There was no logic behind it. She tried to brush it off whenever it came up but sometimes she just couldn’t.
But now with a chance to actually wrestle Annie, that was something that could help Molly get over the dumb insults. If she could beat Annie for the title, then it might slow down all the insults about it. If Molly could show everyone that she was better than Annie, even for just one night, then maybe they’d have to find another way to try and get under her skin. They’d have to actually use their brains. But most importantly, it would help Molly. She would always have that in her mind, as a reminder to herself that she beat Annie and that she was no copycat or wannabe.
Molly just wanted to craft her own legacy in FGA. To mark her place in it’s history as her own, so nobody could ever doubt that she was her own woman. It would all start with trying to beat Annie, and becoming FGA Mid-Atlantic Legacy Champion at All Star Showdown. But right now, it was time for Molly to sleep.

The camera cuts to a shot of Molly Reid, as she sits back in her chair after pressing the record button on the camera. She begins to talk, grinning
“Hey guys! Long time no talk. But so much has happened since then that I couldn’t wait to talk to you. Well, ok, maybe not so much. But one really really big thing happened since then and I think you all know what that was.”
Molly smiles as she thinks back to becoming the new number one contender for the FGA Mid-Atlantic Legacy Championship, currently held by her best friend Annie Zellor.
“So there I am, sitting backstage, getting my head ready for my match. And then out of nowhere there’s Annie on the screen in my locker room, telling me that my match against Nero is now a number one contendership match for her Mid-Atlantic Legacy Championship. You can imagine how my brain exploded when I heard that. Suddenly this match meant so much more. Not only was it for the chance to wrestle for the Mid-Atlantic Legacy title, which would be an incredible honor, but it was a chance to wrestle my best friend. I’ve wrestled alongside her before, but never against her. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and now I was sitting there, learning that I’d get the chance if I won. So any nerves I had just instantly tripled.”
“But then I took a big deep breath and tried to forget all about it. There was no reason to put all kinds of pressure on myself to succeed. Obviously the match meant more now, but I couldn’t get distracted by that. One of the reasons I’ve struggled in the past is because I’d focus too much on where I wanted to be, and not enough on where I was at that exact moment. If I started to look down at a match with Annie, I’d be taking my eyes off of Nero and our match. That’s an easy way to make mistakes and cost yourself the match. So I just pushed that to the back of my mind and focused on what was in front of me. All that mattered was me against Nero.”
Molly rubbed her head as if to indicate the toughness of the match with Nero. She took a ton of punishment, but all it took was one moment for her to explode and she came away with the win. That was how she did it. If you wanted to beat Molly, you better be sure you put her away completely.
“I’ll say this, Nero put up one hell of a fight. Just like I knew she would. That match was just a blur of me getting my ass kicked for a lot of it. But when I saw her stumbling on her feet, I knew it was my chance. I just put my head down and charged forward. I was either hitting the spear, or I was missing it and probably losing the match. But I knew that was my one chance and I had to take it. Luckily, Nero just didn’t quite see it until it was too late and I connected. And I continued my winning ways here in FGA.”
“And now I’m officially the number one contender to Annie’s Mid-Atlantic Legacy Championship! I couldn’t be more excited. Some amazing people have held that title, and it’s going to be an honor to compete for it. Especially against my best friend. I know just how good Annie is and she’ll have to be ready for a fight cause I’m gonna give her my all. I want that title belt, and she wants to keep it, so it’s just gonna be one hell of a match.”
“But anyways, that’s enough about the future. Right now I’ve gotta stay focused on what’s in front of me. And this week, that’s the co-number one contender for the FGA World Championship, Sunshine Scandalous Tony Carmine.”
Molly’s fists tightened just saying his name. She was so ready to fight him. She wanted to stay composed for this recording, but if she could step into the ring with Tony right now, she would. He’s done nothing but disrespect her and treat her like garbage from basically the moment they first interacted. And now Molly finally had the chance to go one-on-one with him. This was not a chance that she wanted to waste. She wanted to make him eat every bad word he said about her.
“I’ve gotten the chance to step into the ring with Tony twice already in my FGA career. Once a couple of months ago when Nero and Mark and I got to wrestle him and Johnny and Danny. I didn’t really get a lot of in-ring time with Tony, but I sure as hell got to see a lot of him outside of it. If y’all remember, him and his cowardly cronies attacked us before the match had even begun. I guess they thought it might help them win, but as we all remember, it did not. I don’t know, I just prefer to do all my damage in the ring, when my opponent is ready. But I guess if you feel like you need that advantage, then you do you.”
“And then I got to see Tony again in the Gold Rush Rumble. That was a little better, since I was actually wrestling in the ring with him. But still, it was a rumble match, and he had his lackey Johnny Cannon alongside him. So yeah, I’ll give credit where credit is due. They took it to me, beat me up pretty good, and eliminated me. It happened, and I can’t change that. Tony went on to co-win the rumble. Him and Johnny deserved it. They worked together when they needed to, but also kicked ass when they were doing it on their own at times too. They deserved to win that rumble, and they deserve to wrestle for the title at All Star Showdown.”
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Tony is a phenomenal wrestler. One of the best in this company, and probably every other company. He’s the number one contender for a reason. Former Pride Champion. Winner of the Gold Rush Rumble. He’s done so much in this company, that you’d be an idiot to try and pretend he’s anything other than a phenomenal wrestler. I’ve said before that I always want to fight the best in the business. Well Tony is one of the best. I’m getting exactly what I hoped for this Saturday. But I doubt Tony feels the same way.”
Molly sighed as she reminisced back to her old days of wrestling. Back when she didn’t know what she was doing, so she put on a mask, so to speak, to hide her true self.
“You know, I used to think that Tony didn’t really believe what he was saying sometimes. It’s something I used to do when I was first starting to wrestle. I’d talk a lot of shit, try to get into my opponents heads. It seemed to work, so I kept doing it started becoming too much. Trying to pretend to disrespect someone or act like they weren’t talented was way harder than just admitting that they were and going out there and wrestling them. I realized it was far easier for me to just be myself. So when I first started watching FGA way early and seeing Tony and interacting with him on twitter and such, I thought the same kind of thing.”
Molly shook her head as her thoughts turned to Tony Carmine.
“But now, I don’t believe that’s the case. Tony isn’t pretending to be shit. When Tony says he hates me, he means it. He’s not putting on some show to try and get into my head or throw me off my game or whatever. He genuinely doesn’t like me. He doesn’t respect me as a person, and he doesn’t respect my skills in the ring. The first part I’m fine with. People all over the world don’t respect me as a person. Nothing wrong with that. Tony can say whatever he wants about me. If he thinks I’m just an Annie wannabe, then so be it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Hell, I know I’ve got personal opinions towards Tony as a person. I think Tony is a garbage human being. He’s a self-centered, arrogant, sexist and occasionally cowardly piece of shit. As a human. That’s my opinion. We’re all entitled to our own, and that’s what I think of Tony. Opinions can change, but at this moment, that’s what I think of him.”
“But where we differ is in our respect for one another in the wrestling ring. Whereas I absolutely respect Tony as a wrestler in that ring, he’s never given one shred of a sign that he has any respect for me as one. He doesn’t respect what I’ve done in wrestling, what I’m doing, or what I can do. Nothing. To him, I’m just some useless nobody who’s beneath him and doesn’t even deserve to be in the same building as him, let alone wrestling against him. He’s got a chance to be the FGA World Champion, he doesn’t have to respect anybody right? Well, except for his best buddy Johnny Cannon but even then, that respect will only last until Cannon is in his way for that title. But I digress. The point of this all is that Tony doesn’t respect me as a wrestler. He’s got more important things to worry about than little Molly Reid. But that’s going to be his problem.”
“See, this match means everything to me, and nothing to Tony. What does he gain by beating me? He’s the number one contender, of course he’s going to beat me right? It’s just the expected result. Ho-hum, another day in the books. But for me, this is a chance to show the world just really how good I can be in that ring. I’ve shown it against people like Nero, like Mark Storm, and so on. No offense to them, because they’re phenomenal wrestlers, but Tony Carmine is on another level right now. If he’s not already the best wrestler in the entire company, than he’s one-hundred percent in the top three. So now I’ve got the chance to wrestle one of, if not the best wrestler in all of FGA, one-on-one. It’s my chance to show the world that I’m here and I’m not going away any time soon. To show everyone, including Tony, that I’m the real deal in that ring, no matter who I’m up against. Nothing matters to me except this match. I’ve been given a chance and I damn sure am not going to waste it.”
“Tony sees me as a bug that he’s going to squash with ease. He’s underestimating me already, because he underestimates everyone. He doesn’t like me. He doesn’t respect me. He doesn’t think I have any wrestling skills. He doesn’t think I can hold a candle to what he can do in that ring. But Saturday night, I’m going to prove him wrong. I don’t expect him to ever show any kind of admittance that he was wrong, or to even believe that I am better than he thought. No matter what happens Saturday night, if I win, if I almost beat him, whatever the case. He’ll justify it in his own mind somehow. That’s what he does, and hey, it works for him. But I’m going to show all of you. I’m going to show every wrestler in FGA, all the wrestlers around the world, every single person that tunes in on Saturday night. I’m going to show you all that Molly Reid can hang in that ring with Tony Carmine. That she can compete with anyone in FGA on any day. I’m going to show you all that Molly Reid is one of the best wrestlers in this company.”
Molly truly believed herself when she said that. She wasn’t saying it in a cocky way so much. But rather a self-confirmation of her skills. She knew that she could compete with anyone in FGA on any given day at any given time. It could be Zero, it could be Tony, it could be Karma, it didn’t matter. Molly knew that when she wrestled, there was nobody that she was afraid of. She knew she could compete with Tony on Saturday. She knew that she had the potential to beat him. Whether or not that happened would be decided on Saturday, but Molly absolutely believed that she had the skills and the ability to do it.
“This match, it’s my biggest match yet. This match is everything. This man could very well be the next FGA World Champion! He’s an incredible wrestler. But that doesn’t scare me. I’m just going to go out there and do what I do best. I’m going to get in that ring and I’m going to unleash as much hell as I possibly can on Tony. I’m going to hit him with everything that I’ve got. Once I’ve given him all that I’ve got, I’ll give him even more. If he thinks this match is going to be a cakewalk for him, if he truly believes that he won’t have to break a sweat to beat me, then he’s in for a damn rude surprise. Because nobody can walk all over me. Nobody can waltz their way to a win over me. I know what I can do in that ring. I know how dangerous I can be when I’m standing across from my opponent. If you want to beat me, you have to fucking earn it. You have to dig deep and grit your teeth and push back and just give it everything you’ve got. Because I’m not going to roll over and die for you Tony. If you want to beat me like everyone expects you to, then you better be ready to fucking go. Because I may not win every match I’m in. But I damn well make sure that whoever does beat me, earns it.”
“So go ahead Tony. Disrespect me. Insult me. Tell me how much I’m like Annie or whatever the fuck else you want to say about me. You do you. But know this. You’re going to have to work to beat me. And if you’re not ready to do that, if you’re expecting an easy rollover match for yourself, then you’ll be in for one rude awakening.”
