Bad News

[Luke Jackson]

Luke and Jules Jackson slowly stepped out of his blue Subaru as they approached the apartment of his sister Larissa Jackson. She had been pretty down as of late. The married pair had no idea what was going on and Jules being the one that never really showed emotion was the one that brought up the fact that they HAD to go to New York and see what was wrong with her. As they approached the door of the apartment Larissa swung the door open. Her blonde hair had now become red. Luke cocked his head as he looked at his sister. Jules barged into the apartment without really looking finally she stopped and looked and laughed a little bit.  

Jules Jackson: You lose a bet or something ‘Ris? 

Larissa shook her head and laughed a little bit.  

Larissa Jackson: No, I just thought that a change needed to be done. You don’t have to like it.  

Jules Jackson: No, I’m just kidding it is something different and I like it. Anyways, who do I have to hurt for making you all mopey and crap? 

Luke laughed as he walked into the apartment and sat down. 

Luke Jackson: Really knowing ‘Ris it is something that probably isn’t that big of a deal. It can’t be any worse than video tapping them having sex.  

Jules punched her husband pretty quickly and scoffed. 

Jules Jackson: Really? You don’t need to bring that crap again. But come on tell us ‘Ris. It has to be somewhat important.  

Larissa Jackson: It really is important. I just don’t know how to really say it.  

She turned from the both of them and looked out the window.  

Jules Jackson: It is pretty easy. All you have to do is open up your mouth and you spill it. I do it all the time. Watch… 

Hey Luke I’m pregnant… 

Luke looked up from his phone really quick, Larissa turned around just as quick as Jules sat on the couch laughing. 

Jules Jackson: I’m totally kidding. God us with kids? No thank you.

But see it is that simple Larissa. You just say it. Then we talk about it and it is over.  

Larissa Jackson: Okay, look. Luke this is going to piss you off. I was surprised when it happened myself. A couple days ago. 

She takes a deep breath and put her hands on her head.  

Larissa Jackson: My phone rang which is fine because it always does. I didn’t recognize the number but I picked up anyway because it could have been an agency or whatever. I said hello and on the other end I got “Hi Rissy.” As you know Luke only one person has ever called me that. 

Luke Jackson: It couldn’t be her. 

Luke got up and started to walk to the door and out of the apartment. As he left Jules mouthed the word “mom.” Larissa nodded her head as tears started to flow down her face. Jules got up and hugged her sister in law.  

Jules Jackson: I better see if he is okay.  

Larissa Jackson: Of course. I’m sorry Jules. 

Jules Jackson: Not your fault babe. He’ll be fine. Just a shock to the system and all you know? I can’t imagine what it is like for you. Just stay strong which I know you are. I will worry about Luke and hopefully he doesn’t go off of the rails.  

Larissa Jackson: Great pre birthday present huh? 

Jules Jackson: Could have been another video tape right? 

Larissa shook her head and laughed as Jules walked off to find Luke.

Luke Jackson sat in the locker room. He had his wrestling gear on, his tag team title sat next to him. He looked at it and smiled a little bit as he put his hand on it and brought it up and put it on his lap. He turned the title so that he was looking at it. He ran his fingers across the name plate feeling the cold metal on his fingers. He stopped and looked up at the camera.  

Luke Jackson: This crazy ride started a little bit ago. When Ricky and I beat our opponents that we are facing this week. When that February day happened a lot of people didn’t think that would happen but it did. When we beat AI and Rottentreats a lot of people didn’t think that we would even get the job done against Dexter Jacobs but we did. Hell man people didn’t think that we would beat AI and Rottentreats but again we did and that is why we have these. 

Luke turns the title around and he nods his head.  

Luke Jackson: I’m not going to dwell on the fact man that I myself didn’t think it would happen because well you can’t change history you just have to keep going into the future. Keep on fighting, and never look back. I feel that when you look back then you are going to get swallowed up and spit right back out. It isn’t only in wrestling though it is in life as well.  

Ricky, and I have gone back and forth on our past with each other all of the time and it is something that we really don’t like talking about. Of course we both made mistakes and that is something that everyone does. We didn’t see eye to eye before and maybe there was some hatred there. Maybe I wanted to kill him and maybe in some ways he wanted to do the same thing to me. When he first came to FGA I was pissed and I was wondering why he was stepping into the company that I just found as home. I knew that we would cross paths and all of that but I also knew that the past was the past and we had to move on. When the Jokers Wild tournament started and we were named as a team I had reservations and deep down even if he will not admit it he probably did as well. Though if we let that happen, if we looked at each other with cocked heads and always questioned what the other was doing we would have never been where we are right now. We would have gotten destroyed. We cannot let that history define us we have to keep going. Keep on fighting and that is what he and I will do. He and I are on the same page and I feel that it is a very scary thing when he and I are on that page. Look at what we have done together every match that we have teamed together. We have won! 

He smiles and slaps the title with his right hand. 

Luke Jackson: People have to take us OFF of the mountain man. We climbed it hard and fast and we are going to let it go that quickly. If we let these go so damn quick then what the hell are we doing here man? See we need to create a legacy with these tag team titles and that means keep on fighting for these titles. Keep on winning when these titles are on the line, and keep proving people wrong.  

Now I’m not going to overlook the match that we have this week because that would be stupid. There is the Dynamic Duos tournament as well. There are a lot of good teams there as well and that frightens me but it isn’t that big of a deal because no matter who comes out of that we will give them our best shot and as you have seen we have given our best shots all the time and we have been able to win over and over again. This will not stop Rick and I strive to be the best and we will do whatever it takes to be the best I just feel bad for our opponents because we are going to do whatever it takes to beat the and cement the legacy that we have already started.  

As, I have said we have faced them before and we beat them. It could have gone the other way and Rottentreats and AI could be the ones with the titles right now. But they aren’t they are the ones that have to come into the match and prove that they are better than us. Will it happen? Who knows but that is why we go down to that ring and fight them man to see who is better. But we already have proven the fact that when we step into the ring with them we can beat them. 

He nods his head as he gets up. He slung his title over his shoulder and looked at it one more time.  

Luke Jackson: I wonder though it seems to me like they really don’t care about fighting us again. I only say that man because where is the hype where is the words coming from their mouths saying that they will beat Ricky and I? See, if I see someone that has something that I want I would be on them like flies on dog shit. I would keep on testing them I would make them doubt themselves. But with them they have done none of that and it kind of irritates me a little bit. It doesn’t bode well for them though because well when you are coming into a gun fight with a knife then you are going to be taken right out. We have the guns and we will come guns a-blazing.  

He smiles as he walks across the room.  

Luke Jackson: Those two I know will bring it though even if they haven’t really said much. They will do what they need to do in some ways though. They will fight and they will try to knock us down little by little.  

Also I have heard about the stuff about me being the weakest link on the team and all of that. I understand that because I am younger and that I haven’t had that much experience in this business and all of that but still I am a champion and I know what it feels like to hold gold now and I don’t want to let that go. People can drone on and on about this man and say that I’m not that good and that Ricky carried me. How could have he carried me though when I we have the titles? If I were the weak link if I wasn’t on some level as Ricky then we wouldn’t have the titles we wouldn’t be on the top of the mountain. If I were the wink link people would have been going after me over and over again. But that hasn’t happened because I have proven people that I’m good and okay maybe single matches I haven’t been as good as I want to be but still as a team we can do anything that we want. Simply put people have to beat us to take us out and that isn’t going to happen that easily.  

AI and Rottentreats I want them in this match and I want them to be good. I want them to want to beat us and send us packing. I love competition and I will keep on pushing for it. It makes me fight harder. If people question me it makes me mad man. I mean if you were questioned every step of the way how would you feel man? Always being looked at as a weak link as someone that cannot get the job done. It starts to eat at you, it starts to make you re-think what you are doing here man. I hate to sound like that because man it makes me look bad but man I’m not going to go anywhere. I’m going to keep going because this is my life now. Wrestling, and this title, and well my wife are the things that keep me sane man. No matter who steps up I will fight it starts with this match when we face people that we have beaten before.  

He walks over to the door and he slowly opens it. 

Luke Jackson: We will do this, we have come too far to all of the sudden let something bad happen. We are on the same page and we always will be. Of course there are thoughts about branching out and doing the singles thing but right now we found our road to glory. These titles are ours and people will have to step up and beat us, but we will not make it easy. We will not allow that to happen because man we have invested so much in this. I will not let him down and I know that he won’t let me down. We are not just tag partners but friends and man that is a VERY scary thing. 

He smiles as he turns on his heels and walks out of the room.
