“What is it they say: third time’s a charm?” The Baroness asks from her position perched atop her throne – or battered brown wingback chair – her head bowed, shoulders slumped, elbows resting on her knees. Her cane clenched tightly in one hand as she exhales a deep discontent sigh. “Because, I swear, I thought the first time I stepped into the ring with Brute Camp I was as ready as I could be; I believed I had the perfect levels of aggression and confidence going into that match…”
“But we all know how that turned out.” Her knuckles turn white as she clutches the cane tighter.
“And then, as my Sweet Prince and I headed into the finals of the tournament to face the Brute Camp again, I toned down my confidence and went into that match with more aggression. A plan of action that we carried out almost to a tee…” she pauses, scoffing in disgust as she rubs her left forearm, “…but Mason anticipated one step in the plan, and it cost me!”
“It cost us!” she exclaims in anger.
“My Sweet Prince and I aren’t currently the LDFC Apex Tag Team Champions because Butt Mason had enough brains - no, he had the smart idea to wear a cup to protect Mason Jr. from my trademark low blow!” she pauses, “So whoever out there warned him of my intention – because there’s no way he thought of that himself! If you step forward and identify yourself, I promise the punishment will be swift and as painless as I can manage. But if you continue to hide, to celebrate their victory that night on April 7th, to try to shield yourself from my wrath? Then the retribution will be slow and tortuous.”
“One consolation Brute Camp can take away from At All Costs is that their beloved tag titles aren’t on the line.” The Baroness raises her head; she wears a look of disdain, that familiar smirk missing from her face, “So you can keep those safe for a little while longer. And you can thank your lucky stars I’m not teaming with My Sweet Prince again; the next time you see him, however, he’ll be the Apex Champion, and still ready to kick your nasty little heads off your shoulders.”
“This week, though, you get the chance to pluck that thorn from your side when you take on Keegan and myself. You remember him don’t you, Becky? The man who beat you at Welcome to the Serengeti; the man you attacked after he defeated The Comeback Queen; the man you cost a match against The Hippie; you meddlesome little bitch…” The Baroness chuckles, the smirk returning to her face as she stares at the camera in a moment of silence. “…do you remember those previous encounters, Becky, when I was juggling my aggression and confidence? When I entered the ring with so much swagger and bravado that you managed to roll me up for the three count?”
“Not going to happen this time.”
“And I know not to go to that well again; Mason Jr. is safe this week, but you can wear the cup just in case. So now all you have to worry about is what mood will The Crimson Baroness be in when she steps into that ring on Thursday night?”
“How cocky will she be? How braggadocios will she be? And can you exploit it to your advantage again?”
“And the answer to that last one is a simple no.”
“This Thursday I will cast aside my airs, because Keegan and I have one job to do. And that is to beat you. To show you that you are not the be all and end all of the LDFC tag division. Because I don’t hold a tag champion in Japan to be shown up by the likes of you. I didn’t excel in the Infinity Gauntlet this weekend to fall at the feet of someone such as yourselves. As the current RISE champion, and a future FGA World Champion, you two should be beneath me.”
“But this time, I will do what is necessary. There will be no swagger, no boasting; just pure aggression as I show you both exactly why Keegan and I are two of the best here in LDFC. Why we’re destined for greatness. And this time, you won’t get lucky, you won’t escaped unscathed. Wrath, retribution, whatever you want to call it…” she shrugs, “…you’ll both feel the full force of it soon enough. And then you can rest easy knowing that I am truly your superior. Third time’s a charm, right? And soon the truth shall be revealed…” she pushes herself up, back against the chair as she smirks. And the scene fades to black.
