“Welcome home world traveller.”
Molly collapsed into her couch and kicked off her shoes, immediately lying down onto her back and staring straight up at the ceiling. After a few seconds of staring, she turned her head towards Sam, who was sitting in a chair across from her, grinning at her. Molly turned back to look up at the ceiling. “I was just in Philly for a few days, it’s not like I’ve been gone for two months or something.”
Sam laughed, “Yeah but you’re always gone. Aren’t you going to be leaving again in like a day?”
“Well two to be exact,” Molly replied, “But I can’t help that I’ve got a busy schedule! It honestly wouldn’t be so busy if Annie and Emily and I didn’t win the Trios titles in SSWA. So those were a few extra trips overseas that I didn’t anticipate.” Molly smiled as she thought about the Trios belts that the three of them had won. She didn’t know how long they’d keep them, but she was enjoying the ride. Wrestling alongside her friends was so much fun, especially since they were so good together. “But we’ll see how long that lasts. And then it’s just travelling to Philly and stuff, and then Japan in a couple weeks for MLC.”
“You’re not convincing me that I’m wrong you know,” Sam responded.
Molly laughed, realizing that she did, in fact, seem to always be travelling. “Ok well after that it’ll settle down a bit I promise!”
“Suuuuure it will,” said Sam, making sure to draw out and emphasize the ‘sure’ as long and sarcastically as she could.
“Besides, this is why I hired you isn’t it?!” Molly said, smiling as she turned her head to look at Sam.
“Yeah, yeah, I know. You wouldn’t survive without me. You’ve said it before and you’ll say it again,” Sam sighed as she relaxed a little bit in her chair.
Molly grinned, as she knew that deep down Sam really loved her compliments. Even when she acted like they were old and overused, Molly knew that Sam knew that she really meant them. “Well it’s the truth!” Molly exclaimed, “Seriously I think my life might fall apart if I didn’t have you here to organize things. I mean trying to schedule my life and keep up on my business vetures and all that stuff? Forget about it.”
Sam stood up from her seat and walked over to a table near her, grabbing a clipboard off of it. Molly rolled over so that she was on her side, staring at Sam as she read something off of the clipboard. “What’s that?” Molly asked.
“It’s a schedule I made for you. Well actually for me, so I know where you are,” Sam answered.
“Oh good idea,” said Molly as she propped herself up on the edge of the couch so that she wasn’t completely lying down anymore.
Sam looked up from the sheet at Molly, before looking back down at the clipboard. “So you’re in Philly on Wednesday, then New York on Friday, then Hershey on Saturday, is that right?”
“Yep! Philly to just relax and do some training, then New York for Annie’s birthday, then Hershey for the Gold Rush Rumble!” Molly replied.
“Ooooh yeah. Are you ready for that?” Sam asked.
Molly thought about it. It was going to be one busy night for her. She was fighting in a fatal four way against Nero Darling, Mark Storm and Danny Diamond early in the night. Then, a slight break before she was back in the ring for the Gold Rush Rumble for which the event was named. At least twenty-seven other wrestlers would be stepping into that ring for the Rumble, and possibly two more if they were planning on replacing the injured. So depending on how Molly did, that was a lot of possible ring time for her. But she was so excited, and so ready. “Yeah I guess I’m as ready as I’ll ever be. The rumble match is just gonna be a lot of fun. The four way though, that’s a bit more personal.”
“Yeah one of them stole your panties or something right?” Sam said, grinning to herself as Molly frowned at her for making light of a more serious situation. Although it was a little less serious now that Molly knew it wasn’t Mark Storm stealing her clothes for some perverted pleasure, but rather just Danny Diamond being a dick and trying to fuck with all of them.
“Well it’s not that simple. At first I thought it was Mark Storm because I found my clothes in his bag, and then he said he must have blacked out because he didn’t remember doing it. But then the next week it happened to Nero and we found them in his bag again, and so I figured he was just making up the blacked out excuse. So we challenged him to a match and then we beat him, but then Danny Diamond, who had attacked us the week before and then agreed to team up with Storm, revealed that he did everything just because he wanted to fuck with all of us. So now we’re all fighting in a fatal four way match at Gold Rush,” Molly took a deep breath as she finished her gigantic explanation. “Sorry, I know that was a mouthful,” she added.
Sam smirked at Molly, “Yeah you’re used to mouthfuls aren’t you?”
“Fuck you Sam,” Molly said as she chucked one of the pillows she was resting on towards Sam. The pillow connected as Sam laughed and picked it up, placing it on a chair beside her.
“Well truthful statements aside, that all sounds like a pretty crazy situation. So you fought and beat that Storm guy last week even though he didn’t actually do anything?” Sam asked.
“Well in fairness, I found mine and Nero’s clothes in his bag,” Molly answered, “So I think I had pretty good reason to believe that he did it. But yeah, it was just some jamoke who thinks it’s funny to fuck with us.”
“To each their own I guess,” said Sam. “So what about Nero and Storm, you have to wrestle them too?”
“Yeah, but that’s not going to be a problem,” Molly replied, “I’ve already wrestled Storm before so I’ll have no problem doing it again. And Nero is my friend, and I love wrestling against my friends. It’s just fun to compete against someone you really like and respect.” Molly was definitely excited for Storm and Nero, and she knew she had her hands full with them. But she also couldn’t wait to get her hands on Diamond. The man had been fucking with all of them for weeks and she was ready to punish him for it. Everything she did to Storm last week she was going to do ten times to Diamond on Saturday night.
“Whatever, I’m sure you’ll be fine and have fun cause you’re weird and like getting beat up for whatever reason,” Sam said, grinning at Molly again. Sam looked down at her schedule again, reading something off of it. “So you’ve got Annie’s birthday party Friday then right? Ready for that?”
Molly frowned as she thought about it. “I guess, as ready as I'll ever be.”
“What’s wrong?” Sam asked as she noticed Molly didn’t sound as enthused as she expected her to be about her best friend’s legal drinking age birthday.
“It’s just...like...I don’t know where Annie and I stand these days,” Molly said, somewhat sadly. “Annie’s my best friend and I love her to death but lately she just seems super distant. Like she doesn’t consider me as good a friend as she used to.”
“Are you sure you’re not just overthinking things Molly, you know you tend to do that.”
Molly shook her head no. “I know I do, but I really don’t think so this time. Like Annie and I used to talk and hang out by ourselves all the time. But I can’t remember the last time we did anything. Like here’s an example, last week I think she went on stage and sang with Dom and his band on the first night of the show. But she never once even hinted at it to me that she was going to do that. Like not even a ‘Oh Molly you should go to the Wednesday show’ or anything. Just stuff like that, or never wanting to visit.”
Sam looked at her quizzically. “Is that it? Maybe she was just having a bad day?”
Molly stared off into space again as she thought more about it. “It’s not just that. Something big is going on with her that she refuses to tell me about and I’m not sure why.”
“What do you mean?”
“So like for the past few weeks on Twitter and stuff I keep seeing her asking people if she can meet with them because she needs to talk to them about something. Something big and important and not something that she wants to talk about on Twitter. And it’s been with like a bunch of people. But never me. She used to come to me with this kind of stuff all the time, like when she found Dom’s sex tape and stuff. But now? She just won’t. So it kinda hurts cause I would tell her anything. I just don’t know.” Molly sighed again. She really wanted this to just be her overthinking things, but she really didn’t think it was. She still considered Annie her best friend and she hated not knowing if Annie felt the same.
“Well just talk to her about it I guess, I’m sure it’s nothing really,” Sam said, trying to keep Molly from feeling too down. “Did you get her a present for her birthday yet?”
“Yeah I got her a Porsche,” Molly said as she sat up and started looking for the TV remote. She stopped when saw Sam staring at her. “What?” She asked.
“You got her a freaking Porsche?!” Sam exclaimed.
“Yeah a Boxter Spyder. I wanted to get her an even nicer one but I needed to make sure she could afford the insurance payments too,” Molly said, clearly unaware of how ridiculous she sounded to Sam.
“A god damn Porsche Molly. For a birthday present.”
“What is that not a good present?” Molly asked, still ignorant to the shock of Sam. “She’s my best friend, she deserves a really good present.”
“I guess…” Sam relented as she began to walk back towards the kitchen, while Molly turned on the TV. “A god damn Porsche though…”
Molly laughed to herself as Sam slowly vanished into the kitchen. Molly quickly fired up Netflix, getting ready to watch some Futurama or something before she hit the gym.

The screen clicked on to a shot of Molly Reid staring into the camera, a gigantic smile on her face. She was wearing a tank top and sunglasses, sitting outside in her backyard. In the background you could see the Santa Monica Pier, the roller coaster and ferris wheel clearly visible. Molly grinned as she began to talk to the camera.
“Hey guys! Are y’all getting ready for the Gold Rush Rumble?! I know I am. I’ve been mentally and physically preparing myself for the past two weeks, making sure I’m in the best shape I can be in and making sure that my in-ring skills are the best that they can be. I mean, I’ve got two matches in one night! And one of them is against like almost thirty other wrestlers! So I’ve definitely got my work cut out for me this week. But I’m not going to talk about the Rumble match just yet. Tune in later this week and I’ll address that.”
“Right now I’m going to talk about what happened last week and what it led to. As y’all know, it seemed pretty obvious to both me and Nero, and probably all of you, that Mark Storm stole our clothes. I mean there was just so much evidence. The fact that, oh, I don’t know, we found our clothes in his gym bag? Coupled with his really bullshit-sounding excuse about not taking his meds and not remembering anything. It just seemed too convenient to be real. So last week, we got him into the ring with the goal of teaching Stom a lesson. We wanted to make him remember what would happen to him if he ever did anything like this again. And I’ll give him the credit he deserves .He wrestled a really tough match, and did everything he could. But it wasn’t enough. It often isn’t. And when I pinned Mark and heard that ref’s hand hit the mat for a third time, I felt a little bit vindicated. I felt like I had accomplished what I had set out to do, what Nero and I had set out to do. So you can imagine my surprise when Danny got on the mic after the match.”
“So as you all are aware, Danny did everything. He stole our clothes, he framed Mark, he sat back and watched as we reacted to the situation exactly as he wanted us to. Danny Diamond decided he wanted to fuck with some people, and he chose the three of us. Why? No idea. But he did. And it worked. I said some pretty terrible things to Mark all because I thought he was some kind of pervert who was stealing his co-workers clothes.”
“So Mark, I just wanted to say that I’m sorry. I’m sorry for all the terrible things that I said to you and about you. Calling you a pervert, a creep, everything. I’m so sorry. I should have trusted you from the beginning, I should’ve believed that you wouldn’t have done anything like this. There was a little bit of evidence and I just jumped on it instead of taking the word of someone who has never given me any reason not to trust him. It was dumb and I considered you guilty without the chance of you proving yourself innocent. All I can do now is apologize and just hope that you can forgive me.”
“But there’s a bit of gold lining in all of this. And that’s that this Saturday night, I get to step into that ring with Danny Diamond. The man who orchestrated this entire thing. The man who made me accuse an innocent man of some pretty bad things. And not only that, but I get to do it with the two other people that he did the same thing to. I’m not sure what made you think this was a good idea Danny, but putting yourself in the ring with the three people who you’ve been fucking with for the past month and a bit? Seems like a miscalculation on your part. You’re going to have to deal with three wrestlers that are all varying degrees of pissed off at you. Three wrestlers who all want to get their hands on you for the shit you’ve done to us. Whatever your reasoning for wanting this match is, it’s dumb. You’re not going to be able to deal with us by yourself and you have to know that. I mean, look at the facts. A few weeks ago, the three of us beat you, even though you had Tony Carmine and Johnny Cannon on your side. If you couldn’t beat us with those two on your team, how do you expect to beat any of us when you’re alone?”
“And I know what you’re probably thinking. It’s a fatal fourway match, we’re just going to wrestle each other out of the match and you’ll sneak in and get the win. But I think the three of us can agree that this match would be much better as a triple threat. Three great wrestlers squaring off and just seeing who the better one is. That’s what the fans want to see. They don’t want to see a coward who attacks people from behind and frames others just for fun. So we’re gonna do what needs to be done to you Danny, and then we’re going to have our match. All the anger we have towards you for what you’ve done to us, we’re going to take it out on you. Then, once we’re satisfied with everything, we’ll have our match. You’re a coward Danny Diamond, and it’s time someone taught you a lesson that you’ll never forget.”
“Now, as for Nero and Mark. I’m actually really excited to wrestle you two. Mark, we’ve wrestled before. Our debut match here in FGA was against each other. I’m sure you remember exactly how that went. I know I do. It was a hell of a match for me. It was close. There were a couple of moments where I thought I might not be able to do it. Looking back, there were even more moments where I could’ve lost. But I didn’t. I beat you and I’m sure you’re chomping at the bit to get back into the ring with me to avenge that loss. I sure as shit would be if it were me. So that’s why I’m excited to get to wrestle you again. Because I know I’m going to get an even better effort from you then the one I got in our first match. You’re going to bring it and bring it hard. I’m going to have a challenge and a half standing in front of me, which is exactly what I want. There’s no way that I can sit here and say that just because I beat you once I can beat you again. I know that there are absolutely no guarantees in this business, and if I want to beat you again I’m going to need to earn it.”
“Nero, I really like you. I respect you. I think you’re an amazing wrestler. Most importantly, I consider you a friend. I’m so excited that we finally get to wrestle each other. It’s been so much fun teaming with you the past two Vertigos. I’ve seen up close just how talented you are in that ring. I know exactly what you’re capable of, and it’s being amazing. You’re not as experienced as a lot of wrestlers, but you could’ve fooled me, having seen you the past two shows. And you know exactly what I can do in that ring too, so I know you won’t be underestimating me. You’re going to bring your very best to that ring, and I’m going to have to try to deal with it. I’m just so excited. I love the challenge of wrestling, and with you and Mark, I’m going to get one hell of a challenge.”
“I’m going to that ring Saturday night against Nero and Mark and Danny and I’m bringing everything I’ve got. There won’t be any holding back, trying to save for the Rumble later that night. I’ll cross that bridge when the time comes. First things first is this four way match, and I’m going to be ready to go to war with those three. They all know what I can do when I’m in that ring. They’ve seen me get the winning pin in both our matches the last two Vertigos. They’ve seen me take some of their best punishment, and still keep on going. That’s what I do. I’ll never stop. I may not always win but I never ever stop giving it everything I’ve got. And if they’re not completely ready for that, then they’re going to have a hard time keeping me from having my hand raised at the end of that match.”

*Knock knock*
“I’ll get it!” Molly yelled as she paused Futurama on her TV and got up off of the couch. She wasn’t sure where Sam was, but she hoped she was within earshot. Molly walked towards the door, wondering just who could be knocking. Her friends would text her or something if they were coming over. She hadn’t ordered anything. Wasn’t expecting anyone at all. So she was ready to be met with a surprise when she opened the door. But nothing could have prepared her for the sight she saw when she actually did.
“Hi Molly.”
The face of her mother, standing in her doorway.
