As the sun radiates light and warmth upon the people of Charlotte, finally banishing the memories of ice and snow, within the Ribbon Walk Nature Preserve we find Shintaro Majima sat on a slope in the shadow of a tree, looking over a creek where water flows past him, as he takesin the tranquility of the scene
As the sounds of nature wash over Majima, they are soon replaced by something else: the sounds of a group trekking through the preserve, their inane chatter breaking Majima's little moment of peace, causing him to look up and turn his head to cast a disapproving glare in their direction - yet rather than intervene he waits for them to move on, and once they have he begins to address the camera
As happens too often, moments of beauty are fleeting. A snowflake can fall into the palm of your hand, and for a moment something unique and beautiful is within your grasp - but it does not last, and soon it melts and the moment is gone forever.
Upon saying this, Majima side-eyes in the direction the tour group were headed
It is not just beauty that is fleeting, as sometimes ugliness will evaporate before your eyes, as the myth that Nest and the Arrogant Fool were in any way a partnership proved. They lied to themselves as much as they did everyone else, and when the lie fell apart it cost them both. And yet I take no pleasure from this, nor am I going to say "I told you so" - instead I find myself disappointed with those who believed their lie for not knowing better.
Majima casts his eyes towards the leaves above him for a second
Thinking of things that are all too fleeting they cannot be captured for posterity, I thought of the grain of truth among the wall of lies told by The Crimson Baroness, namely how I have so often have fleeting moments where it appears I am on the verge of success, yet every time that success melts in my hand leaving me with nothing but a damp patch of skin.
Does she have a point? Yes, she does - but more importantly she is avoiding a far more important point.
Pausing for a second, Majima looks directly towards the camera, before he continues
As quick as she is to bring up the times where success has evaded my grip by a matter of mere inches, she is just as quick to sidestep how success is but a faraway dream to her, as the only success she has ever attained was against somebody who does not even compete in Lion's Den, while her partner Prince MacRear came close to glory once only to fall so hard his mind was broken. It also says so much that The Crimson Baroness did not think it worth mentioning that I faced the broken remains of MacRear and defeated him soundly, as that would ruin the story she wants to tell.
There is another story that she does not want to tell...
Majima stretches out his right arm, running the palm of his left hand all the way from the bicep to the wrist, all while he maintains a glance at the camera
...the story of the Kurimuzon Kasai, a weapon that can end the Baroness or the Prince in an instant, a weapon which no words can counter, a weapon which is but a fleeting moment of beauty for those who see it - but for both of you it represents a fleeting moment of consciousness, because the second you feel its wrath there will be no insult that can save you, be it questioning my credentials or comparing us to dollar store shampoo...
Majima has to pause to ruefully shake his head at that last one
...because words have no effect, as you simply do not understand our union. Our union is based on both of us climbing the mountain, which means we trust one another's abilities to reach that end. We do not lie about being partners, we do not claim to win wars when there are many battles still to be fought, we just seek to conquer.
Nest and the Arrogant Fool could not overcome us when they were pretending to be friends, let alone when they had grown tired of the charade - but what you do not understand is you have motivated us to make sure your progress ends not with our victory, but with a Prince and a Baroness facing the humiliating defeat they brought on themselves.
