Black Sweatpants, with dual white stripes running down the side of the leg, cutoff mid-shin. Barefoot on his left foot, wears a black “bladerunner” style prosthetic where his right foot would be.
Ring Entrance:
As Ain't Dead Yet begins to play through the PA, the lights focused on the entranceway change colour with each power chord, until Josh pushes his way through the black curtain, the lights turning white as he does so, wearing a sleeveless hoodie, hood up, in addition to his ring gear. He pauses a moment in the entranceway, spreading his arms wide, before slowly setting off to the ring. He tries to focus on the ring as he walks, but can't resist a few sly glances to the crowd, a smile playing across his lips as he does do. As he reaches the apron, he rolls into the ring under the bottom rope, before getting to his feet, and jerks his head back, displacing the hood rom his head. before smiling and nodding to the crowd. He then makes his way to his corner, removing his hoodie before leaning against the ringpost, testing his weight on his prosthetic limb, checking it for fit and comfort.
CHARACTER BACKGROUND
Pic Base:
Alex Minsky (Pre-Neck Tattoo)
Gimmick:
Plucky, never give up amputee.
Bio:
Joshua “Josh” Mitchell, an only child, had a fairly conventional upbringing. Not the brightest student, he excelled in physical activities, on the track and the field. His High School’s sprint champion, as well as starting quarterback. He was all set up with a prospective football scholarship to Appalachian State University, when it happened.
On the way to a party out of town, the car he was in was involved in a collision. The driver didn’t survive. Neither did the front seat passenger, Josh’s best friend Scott Dougherty. Josh survived, but with heavy injuries, which ultimately resulted in the amputation of his right leg below the knee, and over a year of rehab to get back on his, well, foot.
Whilst under hospital care, his scholarship a forgotten dream, Josh entered a state of depression. They were dark times for the young man, entering a spiral of drink and drugs. His rehab suffered. And then, when all seemed lost, he learned that the driver had been drunk. The revelation seemed to stir something in the young man, seemingly turning his life around instantly. He went teetotal over night, and started to try to apply himself to life.
He reapplied himself to his rehab, as well as starting to spend time at the gym. He took a new attitude to life: every time someone told him he couldn’t, or would never be able to, do something, he set out to prove them wrong. He pushed himself in ways he never had previously, overcoming all obstacles. He found an old list of all the things he wanted to achieve before he was thirty, that he’d made in Elementary school, and started ticking them off at an amazing rate of speed. He ran a 10k. He got “kickass tattoos”. He skydived. He climbed Mount Mitchell. He crossed each and every one off. Until he hit the last item on the list: be a wrestler, and then be the best tag team ever with Scott.
Wrestling had always been Scott’s dream more than Josh’s. It was Scott who was on the wrestling team, who would stay up all night watching wrestling from Mexico, Japan and other far off places. And now… Scott was gone. Scott couldn’t live his dream.
So Josh decided to live it for him. He found a school that would accept him with his condition, Lion’s Den Fighting Championship in Greensboro, and signed up. His family, and his doctors, told him he shouldn’t do it, that regardless of the accident having happened over a year ago, his body was still healing, still adjusting.
But we all know what Josh does when told he shouldn’t do something.
