Standing outside of Jensen Banks’ front door is Emily Carter. It’s been a little under 24 hours since Emily had the bomb dropped on her by The Crimson Baroness. Emily had found it interesting that her and TCB were given the opportunity to pick each other’s opponents. As soon as she heard of the option, she knew that there’d be no better choice for her opponent than Terrence Tillman. While Triple T hadn’t spent the past five months as the target of TCB’s plots, he had gotten a glimpse of how underhanded she was.
Who would the Baroness choose for her?
Emily figured that it would’ve been Prince MacRear or Brody Watts. But Watts was no longer an option, thanks to Jensen sending him on a one way trip to Bank Shot City. And as much as he’d hate to admit it, MacRear knew deep down that the only reason he beat Emily in her debut was thanks to the Baroness. Maybe that fact was remembered by the inaugural Carolina Cup holder. So instead, maybe she’d force Emily into the ring with Hana Song or Shintaro Majima. You know, something along those lines. She never thought the Baroness would force her to fight Jensen. Hindsight being 20/20, she should have seen it coming a mile away. Once the initial shock wore off, Emily was as angry as she was worried.
Emily didn’t know what to do going into their match. She also didn’t know how Jensen would approach this. As she continued to think over various scenarios, a series of footsteps can be heard making their way towards the door. After the doorknob is turned, the door is opened up. Standing on the other side of the doorframe is Jensen.
Jensen Banks: Hey, Emily. Come in, come in.
Jensen steps aside and motions for Emily to come in. After Emily steps in, Jensen closes the front door. Emily places her hand on her forehead as she lets out a sigh. She’s clearly bothered by the news that she was hit with the night before.
Emily Carter: … Hey.
Jensen stares at Emily for a few seconds, noticing how she is acting, before he speaks up about it.
Jensen Banks: Are you okay, Em?
Emily shakes her head.
Emily Carter: No, not really.
Jensen Banks: Do you have like a fever or something? Here. Come take a seat.
Emily follows him into the living room and takes a seat on the sofa.
Emily Carter: It’s not that serious. I don’t have a fever. I’m not physically sick or anything. It’s just … I’m still bothered by what happened last night.
Jensen Banks: ...Oh.
Jensen takes a seat next to Emily before letting out a sigh.
Jensen Banks: I wanna say I'm surprised she went to this route, but I'm not. She likes to fuck with you far too much and it's pretty goddamn annoying.
She nods.
Emily Carter: It really is. And she still hasn’t accepted the challenge. I’m just really sick and tired of her games. I want this to be over with, once and for all. But before I get to her, I guess I have to go through you first? And that’s something I really don’t wanna do, to be honest.
Emily runs her hand through her hair before Jensen reaches over and takes her hand, give it a quick firm grip before he offers her up a smile.
Jensen Banks: I'll be okay, win or lose. Just don't hit my face. It's one of my better qualities.
Jensen offers up a smile as he stares at Emily.
Emily Carter: Heh, don’t I know it.
Emily begins to laugh. Jensen can’t help but to smirk.
Emily Carter: I guess you’re right, though. I knew that I’d eventually be fighting people that I like and respect. It’s another thing to be forced into the ring against someone that … you know … you have feelings for. But I’m not gonna let her win, though. It’s just like you said, everything will be okay. Win or lose, we’re still good … right?
He nods.
Jensen Banks: We’re still good. Just promise me that after you're done kicking my ass, you'll beat hers.
Emily chuckles.
Emily Carter: Ha. I don’t know about beating you up. But I can promise you that I’m going to make her pay for everything. Tenfold.
Jensen Banks: Good. Good. Now, do you feel any better about this match or no?
Emily looks at Banks and smiles.
Emily Carter: … Yeah. I’m … I’m feeling a lot better about it, actually. Win or lose, I know we’re going to go out there and put on the best match possible.
Jensen winks.
Jensen Banks: You know it.
Emily smiles. She then glances over at the clock on the wall and notices the time.
Emily Carter: Thanks again for the talk, Jensen. I really appreciate it. But I think I’m gonna head out. I’m sure you’ve probably got plans and stuff for New Year’s Eve. I didn't mean to hold you up.
Jensen shakes his head.
Jensen Banks: I got nothing to do but watch Gage run around like the little ball of hyper that he is. If you wanna stay around, that’s cool. If not...well, I guess that New Year’s kiss would have to wait then.
Jensen cracks a sly smile before he winks at Emily.
Emily Carter: Passing up a kiss from someone as handsome as you? Oh, I don’t think I can do that.
Emily cracks a smile before she winks at Jensen. This gets Jensen to laugh before he gets up from where he’s sitting.
Jensen Banks: I’m assuming you haven’t eaten, right? I can make us some food real quick.
Emily Carter: … that’d be great, yeah.
While Jensen heads off, Emily’s able to put her mind at ease. That was probably what the Baroness wanted: for her to be stressing herself out. Even after all these months, she still finds herself falling for her tricks. But this would be the last time the Baroness gets in her head. Emily promised herself that.
