Cruz: Here is your winner.... and the NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW
The crowd boos so loudly they nearly drown out Cruz.
Cruz: ... FGA World Champion... DOM HARTER!
With the power of video editing, the feed fades to black. With the light hum of Jacob Gade’s “Jalouise (Tango Tzigane)” overlaying the incoming credits, I believed that I succeeded in bringing forth a simply elegance presentation. I hope the crowd enjoys.
The returning image is me lounging in my lovely abode. I sat in a grandiose loveseat, wine glass in hand. Beautiful cascades of maroon and gold filled the room. Jan stood next to me as my proper right hand.
“A true champion doesn’t stop pushing forward when they lose. They must remember what got them to the dance to begin with. If I’m to fight for a championship, I must summon forth the mindset of one. Like everyone else in this match, I wish to become the initial Old North Champion. Unlike the others, I have envisioned myself in the role of not just being a LDFC champion, but a future FGA champion. I have delved through all the archives of our FGA champions, knowing that I must follow in their footsteps.”
“Is that not the goal of being here? We are here to educate ourselves on how to be the best competitor that we can be. We look to FGA, marveling over the likes of Chandler Scott, Dom Harter, Tony Carmine, and Izzy Anders. The name in that lineup that I have to focus on is Dom Harter. His FGA World Championship reign came about after he won a match like this, but on a grander scale,” I paused, looking to the heavens. I pictured his infamous title victory. He stood amongst a mass of disappointed individuals as the sole survivor, the Strongest.
“The Gold Rush Rumble is where he captured the top prize in wrestling today. I consider this match to be my Gold Rush Rumble. The very same nervousness that Dom must have had quakes through me, causing all my limbs to tremor,” I showed the camera the proof of my jumpiness. “Yet, this anxiety also doubles as an excitement. The prospective ending that I have painted for myself can become a reality. With an ounce of luck, a vigilant eye, and a certain ruthlessness, I can take the Old North Championship for myself.”
“No one in this match will allow me to simply take it, right?”
“Shintaro Majima, one of the few men that took Nest to his limits, is primed to take what he sees as his. Not only must I stand before that giant, I must slay him as well. He is a threat, trying to write his own destiny,” I threw up two fingers before speaking again. “There are two giants, however.”
“No one must forget about Butcher, an immediate menace; one to take it all if we forget his existence. He’s another behemoth stalking the Old North Championship.”
“Mercy and Aric are in the same boat. This match will see if they can deal with losing. They must also face off against a man who defeated them both in Kellen Klein,” I let free a giggle. “That man’s lively attitude tickles me, but he’s another that I must eliminate swiftly before he gets going. In similar fashion, Skylar Cloud brings that same giddy attitude to this match.”
“But what does Cassandra Rowley bring to this match? The last you saw me, I lost to the Crimson Baroness, an elite here in LDFC. That loss has set me well as just another face in this match. I consider the loss a blessing in disguise. At first, it was a setback,” I hope they didn’t notice my twitch from admitting that. “Nevertheless, my efforts has granted me this golden opportunity. I thought I had lost all the drive I had, but that thought died out.”
“For now, I must take destiny and bend it to my whim. I must remember that what I am striving to be. This match could set off a blazing path into FGA. I might not have the image of Kellin Klein and Shintaro Majima. They’re pegged to win this match. Instead of letting them win, I must engineer my own momentum and walk into this match with my head held high.”
A final pause.
“I can only hope it’s enough to win this, my Gold Rush Rumble.”
Au revoir.
