Why would anyone pick wrestling out to be their dream job? It didn’t make any sense. At least to Aric. He couldn’t wrap his mind around the possibility of someone putting their body through hell day in and day out just to make ends meet. Actually, he wasn’t even making ends meet. And it was beginning to affect his work at the bookstore. Just today one of his co-workers had guilelessly pointed out that he looked like someone had beat the life out of him. How astute, Aric thought as he rubbed his throbbing head. The damage Mercy Williams did to him seemed minor at the time, but the lingering pain to his head and chest said otherwise. It didn’t help that virtually everyday since that match, he’d been hitting the gym much harder than before. Wrestling was barbaric, borderline neanderthalic, but the feeling of having his hand raised at the end was just too euphoric. “Troy, what have you gotten me into?”

The video fades in, bringing a lounging Aric Keaton into frame. The wall behind him is plastered with posters of different animes, movies, and video games. The coffee table on which his feet are propped is cluttered with books, a game controller, bottles of half-drunk and empty Mountain Dew, and the case for the PS4 version of “Destiny”. Still in his training gear, he rests his head on the frame of his futon, a game controller in his lap.
Aric: So this is what it feels like to win a wrestling match.
Aric apathetically raises a fist into the air before plopping it back down to the couch.
Aric: It feels… Well, it hurts like hell, to be honest with you. Don’t get me wrong I knew this wasn’t going to be easy, but I never imagined that wrestling matches would be that intense. I mean, I thought I was in Battle Royale as soon as that bell rang. Mercy Williams and Danny Hall did whatever they had to do get the victory, and I was just trying to get out of Gibsonville in one piece. Ridiculous.
Groaning, he lifts his head up and weakly grins to the camera.
Aric: Mission accomplished I guess. Troy said it was one of the ugliest wins he’d ever seen, but I’d like to see him try fighting two people for his first match. But, a win's a win, right? I said that I want that job more than anything, and I’d do anything to get it. Anything.
He winces, swiftly moving his hand to his head.
Aric: But damn, Mercy, you’re name is very misleading. Did you have pull my hair like that? Shit.
He shakes his head disdainfully.
Aric: Anyway, I should probably do the intro for this video. Hey everyone, I’m Aric Keaton, and this is my unnamed Youtube channel. Troy suggested I do my promos this way. I don’t really know what to say. Um, my next opponent is the debuting Kellen Klein. Don’t know much about him, but he has the best looking entourage I’ve ever seen. Seriously, those ladies are fucking hot. Check ‘em out on the FGA website.
He nods his head frenetically.
Aric: I’d be the happiest guy in the world if I had that kind of companionship. Troy’s a great at hype man, but he ain’t too easy on the eyes. To your credit, you have great taste. But that’s about all I can credit you with. I have no clue what you’re like in a fight. You may have years of experience on me, and you’ll probably hit me with moves I’ve never even heard of. I’m expecting to leave Greensboro with a fresh set of bruises in places I never knew could hurt.
He shivers at the thought.
Aric: But if you saw my last match, you’ll know that it doesn’t matter how dry behind the ears you could be, I’m going to do what’s necessary to win, because I don’t plan on putting my body though this hell forever. I don’t know how anyone could.
He shakes his head perplexed.
Aric: Although, winning makes anything feel worth the effort. Accomplishing a goal is such an indescribable rush. The tangible results make it the only high worth chasing. So Kellen, I guess I get it. Sort of… I guess the only way for us to truly come to an understanding is to face one another, huh?
He clears his throat.
Aric: We’ll that’s it for this episode. Tune into LDFC’s PRIDE on October, 7th to watch Kellen and I acquaint ourselves. Um, I haven’t setup any other social media accounts yet, but that’ll be coming soon I guess. I’m Aric Keaton and, yeah…
