Get Carter #3: A Positive Note

(Emily Carter sits on the balcony of her hotel room in Newcastle. Later today, she’ll have a Quarterfinals Match in SSWA's UK Cup. But two days later, she’ll meet LDFC’s Skylar Grey back stateside. She then takes out a notepad and starts jotting down, expressing her feelings on the match.)
Why am I not surprised? I should’ve been smarter than that. I should’ve known better than to give someone like Skylar Cloud the benefit of the doubt. If she was really about half the junk that came out of her mouth, then she would’ve had no problem shaking my hand. If she was half the positive person she pretends to be, then she would’ve agreed to a straight up contest with no trickery, no cheating and no outside interference.
“Boring”
Heh, that’s how she brushed off my request before claiming that she was doing this for my own good. As if she knows what’s best for me, or anyone for that matter. In her mind, she’s doing this to show me that we all can’t get what we want. Well, it’s clear to me what she wants and that’s a win at any cost. But I’ve got bad news for Skylar. She’s coming up empty handed this Wednesday on Pride.
She is right about one thing. I have let that Crimson Witch get in my head. The Baroness loves getting her digs in at me. She loves rubbing this and that in my face. Yet time and time again, I take the bait and allow her to reel me in. I know I’m better than that. I know better than to stoop to her level. But the way she’s so disrespectful to people… the way she puts down some of my friends… the way in which she uses a certain friend in particular… heck, the things she’s done to me personally... I just can’t take it sometimes!
She makes me so freaking mad!!! What’s worse? She knows it and she loves it. She loves taking up residence in my head. But I can’t let her get the best of me. Not again. I can’t let her petty jabs affect me. I can’t fall for her traps. I can’t let her suck me into another argument, only for her to turn around and play the victim. I can’t let her have that kind of control over me ever again. Skylar got that one right.
Too bad she was dead wrong about everything else.
You know, at first I thought Skylar was in on the joke. But the more I hear her talk, the more I realize she’s truly deluded. Like, she really believes in this whole “Reach For The Skylar” stuff.
LOL, The Skylar Systemic. It’s sounds like something you’d hear on an infomercial at four in the morning. And it clearly works just as poorly as all that other As Seen On Tv nonsense.
Terrence Tillman didn’t Reach For The Skylar. He simply grabbed the brass ring and snatched it out of the clutches of the other participants in that number one contenders match. Endee Leights didn’t follow Skylar’s regimented system. She was finally able to put it all together and get herself her first, and ultimately her last, win here in LDFC.
Miss Cloud can follow her own advice and try to Reach for The Skylar. But believing in PMS, TSS, ABC, XYZ and all that other pseudoscience of hers will prove futile when I defeat her on Pride. I don’t need her to teach me a thing. I’ll learn from some of the best trainers around, like Riley Owens, Dewey Dresden and Marcus Spikes. I’ll learn from my good friends Donnie Cross and Bree Nelson, two of the best students here in LDFC. I’ll continue to be inspired by Tillman’s athleticism and Nest’s dominance. I don’t need her to unlock the potential within me. Hard work and dedication will ultimately lead me to success in both LDFC and beyond. This Wednesday on Pride, the Power of Positively will not be able to withstand the power behind the Busaiku Knee Strike, the Five Star Frog Splash or the Emilution. Unlike at 2nd Impact, she won’t have any excuses that will hold up. She won’t be able to blame the loss on someone else. For the first time in forever, she’ll have to face reality and realize that her silly system couldn’t save her from defeat.
On Wednesday Night, I will get my first of many wins here in LDFC. No one, not even The Crimson Baroness, is gonna stop me.
Hmm, a win over Skylar Cloud. Talk about ending the night on a positive note...
