With only a few days left til I met in the ring with Liesl Albrecht, I couldn't help but keep having to refocus myself on the match ahead of me. Everything going on in Donnie's quickly growing social life had me up in arms. Am I wrong to hope that there would be more between us than being friends in our future. I don't know, but one thing I should know and focus on was Liesl wanted to take my head off. Losing to me and Donnie at New Generations was still pissing her off, I was sure of it. I wanted to beat her, it was all I wanted that week, but my mind kept telling me otherwise. And as much as I focused on Liesl, I kept coming back to my best friend Donnie. Although one thing was sure, Donnie wouldn't help me beat Liesl this week no matter how much I thought about him.
(The picture begins with the frame of the usual "Facetime" video chat panel comes up. The video feed has the face of LDFC Wrestler Bree Nelson on it. The green calling message says "Dad" as the young girl waits for the call to go through. Seconds later the letters vanish and change to "connecting". Seconds later Bree's father appears on the screen. Bree immediately begins signing to the camera.)
Bree: (Signed) "Daddy! I've missed you. Thanks for takin da time ta sit down and use yer new phone. I hope dat da iphone I got ya isn't too hard ta figure out."
Bree's Dad: (Signed) "It's not too hard dawlin. I figured it out a few hours after I got it in da mail."
Bree: "Dat's great daddy. I'm so glad dat we get ta talk face ta face now. I knew you'd get alone with technology eventually."
Dad: "Well if ya don't evolve you get swallowed alive. Ain't dat da saying? How are you dawlin?"
Bree: "I'm doin alright I guess."
(Her father pauses, a little caught off guard with the response from her usaully upbeat and excited daughter.)
Dad: "Well dat's a bit less enthousiastic dan I thought it'd be. What's wrong?"
Bree: "Oh it's nothin Daddy."
Dad: "Dere's a lot of people in dis world that you could trick with dat, but I ain't new to da bayou baby girl."
Bree: "It's just dat, I think dat I may be waitin too long ta tell Donnie how I really feel about him."
(Bree's dad stopped for a second, surprised that his daughter would say this to him. She's spent her entire life denying her attraction to her best friend, even if he saw right through it. To hear her speak openly about it surprised him a little.)
Dad: "Well I mean, if he doesn't already see it I'd be a bit surprised dawlin."
Bree: "I don't think he does though Daddy. And like, lately he's been goin out with one of da girls from LDFC alot and talking to a bunch of others. I think dat maybe I waited too long to tell him?"
Dad: "Well honey, what's keepin ya from telling him now? Huh?"
Bree: "What if dat's not the way he feels too? What if it just makes things awkward. I dun know if I could handle dat Daddy."
Dad: "Well Honey, dere's one thing I know. If you don't at least tell him how ya feel. You'll never know what coulda happened. And dat's worse than any awkwardness."
Bree: "You're probably right daddy... it's tough..."
Dad: "I know baby girl. I know."
