'Disappointment. The feeling of not being satisfied with your own efforts, of not having performed to the best of your abilities, of knowing you might have done more, done better, tried harder. The feeling of self-loathing which envelops you as you acknowledge you were not brave enough, or able enough, to overcome the obstacles facing you.
This is a feeling I believe you are quite familiar with, is it not, Miss Albrecht?'
This impassioned speech, which opens the latest video uploaded to the Lion's Den FC website, is delivered by fan-favourite superstar Katherine Kensington. Speaking, as ever, from her living room, the starlet's expression as she continues her address is at once empathetic and determined.
'Yes, I have a feeling you might have found yourself nodding your head in agreement just then, as I voiced the exact sentiment you have been experiencing as of a few months hence. Is that not right? That fateful session with Mr. Owens, wherein he overlooked you as a tag team partner in favour of someone else, has left you feeling dejected, has it not, Miss Albrecht? It has left you feeling worthless. It has made you doubt your own abilities. It has made you wonder whether the success you have achieved in a tag team context, alongside Mr. Kuntz, should be attributed for the most part to him. It had led you to consider what your real contribution to said team might be.
And Miss Albrecht, I want you to know that I empathise.'
The Brit offers her opponent a fleeting, sympathetic grin.
'I empathise because I, myself, am in a rather similar frame of mind, having failed as I did to live up to my word. Not only did I assure my Katie Kats, ahead of our encounter at the last event, that John and I would vanquish Mr. Butcher and Mr. Majima, I also promised to stand beside my partner as an equal and contribute towards said victory. As you may have gathered, I failed on both accounts.'
Katie's expression suddenly becomes forlorn.
'So yes, Miss Albrecht – I, too, feel as though I might have handled myself better in the context of that bout, if only by keeping my emotions in check and thus preventing a disqualification for my team.
I, too, feel disappointment.'
The up-and-coming wrestler makes another attempt at a smile.
'It is, however, time for each of us to put such feelings behind us. Lion's Den Fight Club have graciously offered us both a chance to atone; a chance to showcase our ability, to prove our worth, to stop feeling as though we are a disappointment to both ourselves and those around us.
And Miss Albrecht...it is our duty to seize it.'
Katherine's tone becomes more confident as she continues:
'Yes, Miss Albrecht, it is our duty to take this opportunity and use it in our favour. Regardless of who emerges the victor, we must show ourselves we are not worthless. We must show ourselves our successes did not come about by happenstance. We must show ourselves that we are not disappointments.'
Katie's smile widens.
'Miss Albrecht...you claim to see our encounter this coming Wednesday as an opportunity to teach a lesson. I see it as a challenge. A challenge set by Lion's Den management to two women who need to face it, so that they may overcome their personal demons and their budding careers may flourish.
I am prepared to face said challenge.
Are you?'
With these final, powerful words, the Brit walks off-screen, as the video ends.
