Under a bridge near I-85.
Litter, makeshift homeless forts and the smell of piss and beer are present. Nest isn't fazed.
"I'm in the depths of human waste, here I stand. This is where lost souls come to wither away. Where the forgotten meets for lunch and remember."
Nest tilts his head and grins. "I hope my opponent isn't squeamish for such surroundings because this is where the beloved Princess will lie down after I silence him finally. I've given you ample amount of opportunity to let the vulture rest. You continue to poke me with your metaphorical selfie sticks. You believe you have the power to get under my skin. That in itself amuses me."
Nest shakes his head.
"You don't want this as bad as you think, MacRear. The Apex championship and the idea that your career hasn't been a complete waste appeals to you. Admiration and validation drives you, but you need to keep your eyes on the streets. I'm not a speed bump to your redemption road. I'm a certified roadblock, and if you think third time's a charm you're in for a rude awakening." Nest smiles. "It must be frustrating thinking this match is your only chance of finally being taken seriously. Good news, princess...it isn't."
Stroking his beard, Nest kicks a Bud Light can. "Getting to the fruits of your labor may require a detour dude. I'm not going anywhere, and I plan on holding the Apex as long as fate will allow it. Everytime the powers at be decide you need to get through me in order to get to that next level, that's where the story will end for you. Back to the drawing board." Nest looks down, almost a look of melancholy on his face. "I never asked for that power. I didn't expect the Lion's Den to become my dwelling but who am I to turn down an opportunity? Prior to winning this title, nothing was attached to my name other than trouble and bad news. The fighting within as well as in the ring has gotten me where I am today. Not complaining, finger-pointing and feeling sorry for myself." Chuckles.
"Which is why I just can't respect some like MacRear who never takes responsibility for his shortcomings. You are an excuse for a man, and that's not because you'd rather act like a woman. In fact, ladies in LDFC such as Bree Nelson show more testicular fortitude than you do, so I'm not sure who you're really impressing. I do, however, know that you're walking a thin line between persistence and provocation. You may deem your constant jabbing at me clamoring for a title shot but all I see if you desperately trying to awaken a monster that would rather lay tranquil."
Nest crouches down to a kneeling position. "If you want to make me a believer, be the person you were in the ring with Butcher and just fight. There were very little mind games played, and the end result worked out in your favor. You showed credibility."
Nest smirks. "But in my case, you believe you can humiliate me and knock me off of the top. Well I'm sorry I've overstayed my welcome on the pedestal that you and everyone else in this place has put me on. I now know what it feels like to be important and to matter. No one is taking that away from me. I'm not a politician, so I don't need to lobby for support to knock your head off..."
"I'm just going to do it. Nest assured."
