Shintaro Majima is sitting alone in the locker room, wrapping his wrist in athletic tape in an almost ritualistic manner with a look of fierce concentration on his face until he feels he is ready to speak.
For the first time I am speaking freely, rather than speaking from... Majima taps the side of his head a couple of times, before he tears off the athletic tape at a point he believes sufficient and finishes wrapping his wrists. This is the big cultural difference between my homeland and here, in my homeland most of the talking is done after the match, yet here the talking is done before the match. What is the phrase I've heard, "Talking people into the building"? This is quite different to what I am used to, as I am used to people going to shows to watch wrestling, and the talking is far less important.
Majima holds up his hand and studies the wrist tape and, satisfied with his handiwork, rubs the back of the hand in the palm of his other hand. AKIRA Kaede, she identifies with talking first and wrestling afterwards, as she prefers the way wrestling is done over here, yet at the same time she doesn't represent wrestling at all, preferring a hybrid of mixed martial arts and a style heavily influenced by that of Japanese wrestling. Yet her style does not interest me as much as the fact she wants to step into the ring with me and fight, which is something I am looking forward to after Katie Kensington wanted anything but a fight. This means I get to have the match that I want to have, as I look to hit hard while proving I can take everything my opponent throws at me and keep getting back up. As I said before my last match, get knocked down seven times and stand up eight.
But for AKIRA, she will be knocked down and she will stay down, because she will be throwing everything at me so I will not hold back. I had the chance to make a statement stolen from me by Butcher, something that displeases me greatly, so I must make up for it at AKIRA’s expense. I am sure that she will understand my reasons for this, though she will likely not appreciate what I need to do…
Majima pauses so he can picture the match in his head, considering his opponent and how he will put them down for the victory, …but if she is a true competitor, she will have to respect why I have to do this. If she doesn’t, then she is no true competitor so I will not respect her – which makes what I have to do in order to defeat her feel less barbaric, as I will have taught her a lesson in humility.
Majima l folds his hands together firmly, placing them on his lap while looking straight at the camera, AKIRA Kaede will learn about the honour and tradition of the Japanese ring and I will be the person to teach her exactly what that means, one strike at a time, driving every last ounce of defiance from her being. She may want to stand, she may want to fight, yet neither will be possible, and the only thing that she will have left is the welts and the bruises that I will leave on her to remind her that she finally had the fight that she asked for, yet it was too much for her to take.
His piece being said, Majima stands and leaves.
