Nest was sitting on the ground against the trunk of the tree. He grabbed a handful of the dirt that surrounded him and let it fall in between his fingers. “In such a short time. I’ve watched myself sprout from just a pebble in the ground to almost a bean stalk. Since my first time stepping into the ring with Prince MacRear, I was humbled. But since, there hasn’t been anyone or anything in my way that hasn’t been removed.” Nest lifts himself up and slowly circles the tree. “Obstacles. I’ve disintegrated them. Things I struggled with when I was just starting out are slowly becoming second nature...and nature’s a beautiful thing.”
Nest rubs his hand along the lowest branch. “Nature also has its inconsistencies. I never know what the powers at be will throw in front of me next. My next challenge finds me getting on the road to Gibsonville where I expect to have a total of three matches...and yes I will be making my way to all three. As hard as it will be, I haven’t gotten this far to get knocked off now. Prince MacRear has been my biggest roadblock ever since I decided to lace up boots and I was sure that defeating him would elude me for as long I kept them on.” He laughs, still rubbing his arm along the tree branch. “Well that didn’t end up being the case.”
“I was able to finally get inside of the Princess’s diary and read everything in his little playbook. I came prepared and I came ready to do whatever it took to not disappoint two times in a row.” Nest clutches the tree branch, pressing down on it before lifting his foot onto it and scaling up the tree. “And I will continue to climb...and climb..and climb…”
He reaches a heft branch towards the top of the tree and settles against it. “I will climb until there’s nowhere to go but down again. New Generation will be something for the record books because not only will it crown the very first Apex Champion, but it will be a definitive mark of measure as to who truly has Lion’s Den in their grasp.” Nest snaps a tiny twig from the tree and begins to chew on it. “But I will make it no secret. I am apprehensive about testing my stamina against men who are in far better shape than me. Far better conditioning. I’ve been trained to put my all into my fights so how can I drive when the tank’s on empty?”
“I push. The greek club bouncer who needs humbling. The princess I have already humbled. The monster who doesn’t push his own buttons. The man who unsuccessfully tried to silence me and the woman who caused the short-sightedness that led to him failing to do so.” Nest tilts his head. “Even the superstar taking off fast as a rocket that I have nothing but respect for. I will push them all out of my way with no remorse. No second thinking. No doubting. As a man who has been sitting at the top of the LDFC tree since day one, my climb can only lead to Apex.”
Nest grins.
“I won’t need luck to maintain. My opponents are already halfway broken. They know I’m the only one who got here on my own merit. I didn’t drop anyone who didn’t deserve it. My head won’t be on a swivel. It’ll be focused on that Apex Championship, only. Nest assured.” He rests his head against the tree.
