Standing before the grungy wall of Battlegrounds Academy are Serenity, in a plain black hoodie, and Ligaya Fontaine in her ring tights and a Propagandhi tee. Serenity has a sly grin suggesting she's in a manic upswing; Ligaya has the same confused, lazy smile as ever. Serenity checks to see if Ligaya wants to go first. Ligaya doesn't seem to notice.
"You two are weird to me, you know that?" begins Serenity, "I mean, that's nothing huge. Lotsa people are weird, 'specially in wrestling. This bitch right here," she says, elbowing Ligaya, "She weird as hell. Shit, I guess I can be pretty weird when I wanna be. But - Hans Kuntz, Liesl Albrecht - I find it really, really fuckin' weird how obsessed you two are with America. Like, Jesus, I know some MURICA! freaks, those dumb fucks who really believe that "American exceptionalism" garbage, like, actually still believe in the Monroe Doctrine in 2015, and even they don't talk about America half as much as you do. I mean, damn, did the entire country run over ya dog? Cut you off at the lights?" She shakes her head. "You feed 'em, y'know? The more you bitch about the USA, the more dumb-fuckin'-headed patriotic they get. They'd be easier to ignore if you didn't set 'em off."
She glances at Ligaya, letting her come in, but Ligaya doesn't seem to have anything to say. Serenity shrugs and continues, "I mean, we ain't even American, we don't give a fuck how much you hate America. Not our problem. I know, I know, you're gonna be like... oh, Phreak came from Oklahoma, so you should love the country that birthed him, but that's totally unfair. The man himself ain't who he is just 'cause of what country he's from. Nobody is, less they wanna be, and those kindsa people are just assholes no matter what country they from. Okay, I know Americans can be especially fucked up with the whole patriotism thing? I know they take the Bible a little too seriously and say dumb things like "could care less" and have boring as fuck flavours of potato chips, but when you get down to it most of 'em really ain't that much worse than everyone else."
"Yeah, I mean... they're practically almost regular people, really," chimes in Ligaya.
Serenity smirks knowingly and points at the screen briefly. "You know your problem? You're motivated by negativity. I mean... you love Germany sooooo much you left it, right? Rather than stay and boost the German wrestling scene, you hate America so much you decided you wanted to be there, helping its economy and shit. That's fucked. Can't be healthy to focus so hard on the things you hate over the things you love. Me, I'm motivated by positivity. I ain't in wrestling to tear anything down. I wanna build things up, to honour a great man who was there for me when I needed something to cling to. I want to inspire people one day, the same way he inspired me. All people."
Ligaya nods, slowly, unevenly. "Uh-huh. Like, not just one country, or excluding one country. What the shit's with that, guys? Canadian, German, American; who cares? It's just lines on maps. The only race is human. I'm... go back a few generations I ain't even Canadian though. Philippine, Kenyan, Irish," she counts off on her fingers, "And that's all just people. If you think your country makes you who you are, well, I feel sorry for you."
"See?" grins Serenity, "Even she pities you."
Ligaya nods emphatically...
...suddenly frowns...
"...HEY!"
