The table fly up into the air in an uncontrollable fury. It was nothing more than an object that had done nothing more than get in the way of his rage when it reached to the point of eruption. Thomas was a volcano and the simple wooden table was a bit of molten rock that had been flung free under the immense pressure. Everything that had formerly sat safely perched atop the table now clattered onto the floor along with the table as they cried in unison with a chorus of crashing. Good, it was what they deserved for not helping with the cause of his anger.
Seething angrily over the remnants of his work, Thomas did not turn his head upward at the sound of the door creaking open at the peak of the stairs. "Tommy?" Ernie called down to him as his friend walked hurriedly down the stairs to see what the raging giant had down to his room. The look on his face betrayed his thoughts for the slightest of moments before he regained himself lest he anger him. Should he have been surprised by the sight? It was not the first time that Thomas anger had gotten the better of him, especially in the last week or so.
"Tommy," his friend started with a sympathetic tone as he moved closer to him, reaching his hands up as if he were about to touch his face only to have Thomas pull away with a grunt "Remember what I told you when we first met back in the bad place? Whenever you get angry, tune out the rest of the world. It doesn't matter. It can't hurt you. Not anymore. Not when you're stronger than the ones that want to hurt you."
Thomas was stronger than them all. It made no difference though. The small man, the sheep, still beat him, embarrassed him. The voices, he could hear them when it happened. They were laughing. He could still hear it from time to time. The end result usually was the same, whatever he was working on laying in pieces at his feet. To him, it was the voices that lay shattered on the floor.
"Look at what you did here, Tommy." Ernie let out with a sigh not in disappointment but with sadness that he was not a good enough friend to make the voices stop. Reaching down, Ernie sat the table back up onto its legs before he bent down again to pick up the foam head. The leather mask had come loose from the white head, leaving Ernie with no other choice but to adjust it back into place before he presented it to Thomas.
"Remember how Harbinger doesn't hear them." he said as he held the masked head out for Thomas. "He can make them stop. He can scare them away by breaking Nem and Watts."
Thomas' huge hands reached out and took hold of the head as he looked down at his friend. The empty eyes stared back up at him but spoke volumes with their silence. It was all he needed to hear. "Yes." he said simply as he thought about how strong Harbinger was. Thomas was weak when Harbinger was strong. He would turn the laughter into screams of fear and pain from Nem and Brody.
