The scene opens up backstage of a local news broadcast center in the New York area. Here we see Lions Den rookie, Katie Clarke sitting off in a makeup room, with hairdressers curling her brown locks in a somewhat fashionable sense. She has sun glasses over her eyes and she is dressed in a red dress, but holding a can of beer in her right hand. As she looks up to the camera filming her, she smirks lightly.
“I don’t know how it happened. One night I’m sitting in a bar thinking about my future and the next? I’m signing a contract for Lions Den. A place where young hungry talent like myself, go to prove themselves worthy of someday making it big in this business. Last time I fought, I didn’t come out successful. But is that stopping me from going into this match against Athanasios Giannopoulos and giving it my all, showing everyone that I am going to be a face to look out for in this company. I don’t have much experience, but this is what I am here for. To gain experience and to show that Katie Clarke is not only a party girl...but a fighter.”
She looks up, nodding as her hair falls down to her shoulders revealing the curls. She tilts her head up, and looks ahead as the people start applying makeup on her face.
“Even though I lost, somehow I have managed to spark some interest in the media attention, clearly considering I am here this morning for another interview, but this doesn’t matter to me. This upcoming fame and being noticed? I could live without it. The only thing that means anything to me is going out there and proving that I belong in this company.
Athanasios, you seem like a good person. You seem like you would be quite the fun person to hangout with sometime and who knows? Maybe one day you’ll find me stumbling into that club you work at. But as of right now? Going into this match? The party won’t start for you, as I will be walking out of the arena a winner..my first win in Lions Den mind you. There is nothing going to stop me. You may want to be the greatest wrestler from Greece, but you won’t be able to prove that against me. Sorry sunshine, but this match isn’t your time. This match? Is the time of Katie Clarke.”
She smirks, lifting up her beer and drinking it slowly. She licks her lips before speaking.
“I don’t plan on passing through you easily, I plan on giving you the fight of your starting up career. I appreciate and applaud your pure enthusiasm and high hopes for going into this match, really I do...but your dreams of winning? They’re about to be crushed and turned into vague thoughts. After this match, it will be like your very own personal blackout experience. You’ll wake up the next morning confused on what happened...just trying to vaguely piece together exactly how you lost to me..Katie Clarke….”
Katie smirks, before closing her eyes sipping her beer as the scene fades with the makeup people starting to work on her eyes...
