"Well, I reckon this thing here is really happenin, ain't it?" Donovan starts into the webcam with a nervous cackle, his boyish face flushed a bright shade of pink.
"Lil Donnie Cross in his first ever wrestling match, seems downright crazy don't it?" He clears his throat. "Shoot, never really thought this day would come, y'kno? I mean, sure -- when I was a lil'un, my buddy Bree and I used to stay glued in front of that there television, watching as people like Andreas Lasiewicz made their mark on the business, and we always used to make plans, ya'kno?; always use ta'say that one day it'd be us in that ring, wrestling in front of a sold out crowd and doing what we loved. We were just doing what kids do, y'kno? Talkin’, imaginin’ -- dreamin’."
He glances up at the camera momentarily, before averting his eyes, as if it were rude to stare directly into the camera.
"And now, it's really happening." He admits with a sheepish smile. "Lil Donnie Cross stepping into that there ring, and all I can do -- is just hope that I don't die." He jokes, but there is a strong presence of truth in his words as he furrows his brows.
"I've seen that Harbinger guy that I’m sposed to face, and he ain't normal man." He shakes his head. "Guy freaks me out somethin' serious, I tell ya; and knowin’ that he’s my first opponent makes me a lil bit uneasy, I ain’t even gon lie.” He lets out a sigh. “But Bree’s got faith in me, man.” he says, the mentioning of his best friend drawing a smile. “and after seein' the way she went out there and put on a barn burner with Ms. Ligaya, it don't even need to be said that I’m inspired and anxious to show the world just what I'm made of too. So I'ma give it my best shot. I'ma go out there and lay it all on the line, cause this here's the moment I done dreamed of since I was a lil'un. And I know it ain't gon be easy. I done seen what Harbinger can do! But it won't be easy for him either! Well, at least I hope not." He says unconfidently and frowns.
In the background, Bree Wheeler slowly tiptoes into the shot behind him. She waves at the camera and sticks her tongue out playfully with Donovan being none the wiser.
"All I know is I ain't goin' down without a fight. Yeah, he's big; he's bad, and downright ugly, but --" Just at that moment, Donovan notices Bree moving in his peripheral vision. "Darnit Bree!" he says, laughing. "Whenever she sees a camera she just feels the need to jump right on in front of it." He explains. "Such a hot dog that one is, I tell ya."
She walks up, draping an arm around him and giggling before turning and speaking to him in sign language.
(You look so nervous. It's cute.)
(I am nervous!)
She laughs.
(Well don't worry. You'll do just fine. I believe in you.)
She gives him a reassuring pat on the back, resting her hand on his shoulder. Donnie places his hand on top of hers and glances back towards the camera.
"Our journey? It's just now beginning, and on March 25th, right there in Thomasville -- the story of Lil Donnie Cross, it begins with you, Harbinger.”
“So buckle up buddy, cause It’s gon be a hell of a ride.”
Bree facepalms.
