Bio:
The daughter of white-collar salary employees, AKIRA was born in Providence in the midst of one of her parent's numerous business trips to the United States which lent her a dual citizenship to the US and her parent’s native Japan. She would remain in Rhode Island for several years with her parents until they eventually had to move back to Japan to continue their careers.
Once her family had moved back to her native Japan, AKIRA found herself the odd person out at school and often suffering from what she perceived as emotional abandonment from parents who were often too absorbed in their own professional lives to help their daughter adapt to the culture shock of their own country.
At the beginning of her days in public school AKIRA would find herself becoming a problem child at schools. Neither the system nor her parents knew what to do with her rebellious and sullen nature.
It was during another one of her parent’s business trips - which AKIRA had tagged along with - that a slightly more tolerable solution for both parties involved, one that both AKIRA’s parents and AKIRA herself - now in her early teens - could agree on, and AKIRA’s residency in the United States became more permanent when she moved in with her aging uncle in Dover while her parents could consider their own professional interests in Japan without having to worry about their daughter’s problematic social and school issues.
While this solved the problem on her parent’s end, AKIRA found that she didn’t really belong in her new home either, getting along with neither the majority of her peers nore her teachers at school, and quickly found herself becoming something of a social pariah, often only fitting in - if only slightly - with the “bad crowd” in her neighborhood. Often finding herself getting into fights, committing petty thievery, and other such activities until she was arrested for breaking and entering and became one of many teens to find themselves being regarded by the state as a young offender. Subsequently she found herself on probation, doing community service, and under the conditions that she could not interact with anybody else with a criminal record for a year, which effectively cut her pool of friends back down to zero.
It was around this time that AKIRA discovered a mixed-martial arts gym mere blocks from where she lived with her uncle, interested in the sport in general and having nothing better to do she went for a tryout and found herself enjoying not only the activity itself, but the opportunity to release her pent-up aggression and anger over never quite feeling accepted no matter where she went.
Supplementing her gym fees with odd jobs, drug pedalling and the occasional bout of thievery, AKIRA threw herself fully into her time at the gym, becoming proficient in several areas of the sport, specifically BJJ and boxing, to the point that she was often chosen to represent her gym in amateur bouts and demos across the state of Delaware.
Shortly after her high school graduation, while competing in a catch-weight demo tournament against several other gyms from outside the state AKIRA found herself locked in a grappling match against a gal where seemingly on instinct she broke her opponent’s arm in a straight armbar. Frowned upon at a demo, several local competitive outlets have blackballed her from competing in any semi-pro events and tournaments, leaving her only with her ability to train at her gym, but unable to exhibit her talents anywhere.
Having not planned - nor having put the effort into - to go into post-secondary education, and finding herself on the outside-looking-in where it concerns the sport she loved and was most likely to earn money in, AKIRA was back at the conundrum of not knowing what to do with herself and looking for acceptance from anybody around her.
Luckily before she could start in on a life of ne’er-do-well a second time, one of her acquaintances at the gym made mention of professional wrestling and Frontier Grappling Association’s new school opening up in North Carolina. Skeptical but curious - and without many other options - AKIRA found herself scouting the school as well as looking into the lifestyle of professional wrestling. After enough mulling on the subject, she’s now finally decided to scrap together her money and go for it.
NOTES:
- AKIRA is untrusting and largely uncaring of the world and people around her.
- Where she lacks in technique she tries to make up in sheer aggression.
- Has an absolute delinquent state of mind concerning authority figures and rules.
- HEAVY BJJ and Boxing influences.
- Despite dual-citizenship, only considers herself American. Has ZERO emotional ties to Japanese culture or their perceptions of pro-wrestling/honor.
