~Scene opens as you see Johnny Brave alone. With a towel over his shoulders, taking sips of water from a aqua bottle. He notices the camera focusing on him, as he takes the towel and rests it on the back of his neck. He then gives the camera individual attention..
Johnny Brave: This month has been the better of most months in my life. Getting signed to Frontier Grappling Arts is the highlight of my life. Its the jump start for my professional career. Something that would be added to my life resume of great things. Yet a number of things run through my head... Such as, Do I have what it takes to make it? Am I in over my head, going up against well experienced superstars?.. You see, experience is a key factor, without it, does someone just stray from the right path? Do you just crumble into bread crumbs when its time to hit that last shot?... I take in consideration that I am trained, focused and determined. So what does this mean?.. The only answer I came down to, is pure butterflies. The fact that this is my very first professional fight. One would clearly see a so called "rookie" such as myself, its clear that its butterflies. Which makes me wonder if the legends of our past history have had this exact same feeling in their first professional debut. Its pretty much a must to feel this way. I must say, this feeling in my gut, feels good.
Yet, I know I am ready for this. All my hard work, the sweat, the determination and the ability to over achieve on the techniques that were givin' to me, makes me more than ready for my first professional debut match. I have the confidence, I know the ropes, I have the mind to out smart my opponent if I find myself in a corner or struggle. Yet, this is what I know. The people that follow FGA, they simply don't. They have no idea about my fast striking speed or my ability to end someone in the middle of that squared ring. Well,(chuckles) They're in for a damn good show come next Wednesday night. And for my opponent, in the matter, there will be stacks of thousands that would be saying, "I hate to be that guy."
Johnny pauses for a moment gathering his thoughts on his upcoming opponent.
Johnny Brave: So I get this message on my phone last night and what do you usually do when you hear a beep on your phone? Yeah, you check it. And there it was, my first match. My eyes blew up and my jaw dropped in shock. Not because of the person's name that I am booked against, I was simply put, relieved. Finally my chance to shake the world was here. Finally FGA goes to newer heights and better ratings. Finally I can check something off on my bucket list, which is getting a huge fan base. Yet, I am not in it for the profit folks, that's not what I'm about. I'm here for your entertainment. That's the way it should be, how it always should of been from the get go. And soon, the fans of FGA can finally feel the way I felt when I saw that I was booked for FGA's upcoming event, relieved!
Johnny shows the camera a huge smile.
Johnny Brave: Now on to my opponent, Xavier Johnson. In your eye's, Xavier, I bet you think I'm the underdog in this event. You must be feeling that you have this in the bag already. And from your point of view, as far as I go I'm nothing but trash that you handle easily week after week. Well Xavier, aren't you in for a rude awakening. You see, I know you have the experience in the ring as a professional. Yet the way I see it, I have the upper hand. I'll explain how I have the upper hand in our bout.(pauses to let the moment simmer in) Because you have no idea what I'm about! Hows that for some common sense. Or do you have common sense Xavier?... Hmmm, I'm not sure if I would accept, if your answer is yes.
With that said, I know a lot about you, Xavier. If your wondering how, then your one more word away from being strapped up in a padded four walled white room. If you catch my drift... Here's some facts about you Xavier. Your first match was way back in 2001. You have weak right and left strikes. You clearly can't end fights like I can. Which in time, you'll soon find this out. And last but not least, you've had everything handed to you. Things that you clearly do not deserve. Such as fighting in Frontier Grappling Arts, is one of many things that you clearly don't deserve. Now this makes me wonder, what kind of man are you, Xavier? A man isn't defined a man if he doesn't work for what he gets in life. A man such as you is only defined as a coward, in my book and many, many, many other peoples book. So do you think that I'm just going to walk in the ring, come toe to toe with you and just hand you the win , like how everything was handed to you in your life? Well, your wrong. I refuse to lose against you Xavier, not just because your a cocky coward, but the very fact that this match means everything to me! I've worked hard for this, I put in hours after hours at the gym on a daily basis, and soon I will teach you how to work for something and get what I deserve, something that you just can't comprehend... A VICTORY!!!
Johnny then takes another drink of water as he finishes it. He places the water bottle down gently beside his feet. He looks back at the camera...
Johnny Brave: You would think someone with professional experience, like Xavier Johnson, would come out and make the first blow with a promo. Yet, in this case, he failed hard to do so. So here I am, lending out my voice on the upcoming event first. I would say it shows class for all the so called "rookies" trying to make it big in this business all over the world. But that's not just it in my case. You see, I've been ready for this for years now, and now I get my chance of a lifetime. So of course I'm going in this federation head first swinging. What else would I do? Be more like Xavier Johnson and just sit back with my hands held out waiting for someone to give me something?...(Shakes his head) No, I'll be the one who is in front of the line getting ready to fight the battles I have in stored for me. Which is exactly what I'm doing.
Xavier, being that you've been in this business for 11 years now, your either FINALLY in your prime, or your far out of your prime. Me on the other hand, I'm the new fresh meat, just getting his feet wet, but I assure you, when I do make my dash in the deep water come Wednesday night, it will be you grasping for air and it will be you sinking to the bottom. The curtain is closing on your career. Soon for you, Xavier Johnson, it will be...(letting the moment sink in)... LIGHTS OUT!!
With that said, the promo fades to black...
