Wrestler's Name: Leon Corella
Height: 6' 5"
Weight: 265 lbs.
Alignment: Face with an Edge
Gimmick: Leon is tired, bitter, and fed up with playing games. He steps into the ring with one goal in mind- The destruction of any who stand before him. His passion for wrestling is the only thing that keeps him going, but the relationship is love/hate. Wrestling is almost like a drug and he's addicted to it, loving the short lived euphoria that comes with a good match, only to come crashing down when dealing with backstage politics. Leon is no politician. If you're his friend, it's because you've earned it, not because of what you can do for him. He will never suck up or kiss ass to get what he wants. He'll just go for it.
Despite his gentleman - brute appearance, Leon is a very cerebral wrestler. He doesn't just act, he thinks and strategizes. He has no physical weaknesses to really exploit, despite the fact that he is nearing 40 years old. He also marches to his own drum beat, doing pretty much as he pleases which tends to also rub promoters the wrong way. Leon's greatest weakness isn't his temper, but his lack of willingness to conform and do things any way but his own. In the ring, he's quite flexible and not set in any one particular way of approaching a match. When it comes to how he conducts himself and his affairs, however, there is no flexing. There is no give. There is only Leon's way and nothing else.
Hometown: Providence, Rhode Island
Entrance Music: "House of the Rising Sun" by Muse
Pro Debut: Started wrestling in 1995 at 18 years old. Pro Debute was in 1997 with American International Pro Wrestling Alliance
Pic Base: Sean Bean in his Mid to late 30's or early 40's.
Grappling Style: Pankration Wrestling
Finishing Moves
Game Over - Start with a standing head scissor, double underhook the arms, lift the victim onto your left or right shoulder, then get a running start, drop to your knees and slam the victim head and shoulders down to the canvas. This move can be released or held for a pin attempt.
Setup Move: Any move that doubles his opponent over.
The Walls of Perfection - Lion Tamer
Setup Move: The Spinebuster - He often hits his Spinebuster before hitting the Walls of Perfection because the positioning is too perfect and effortless for him to grab his opponent's legs, flip them onto their belly and fold them in half like an accordion while he presses one knee to the back of their head.
Trademark Moves
The Perfect Clutch (Full Nelson Camel Clutch)
Triple Rolling German Suplex
Bell Ringer (STIFF Roundhouse Kick to the Head)
Spinebuster (Rolling AA style)
The Rutten Attack (A very stiff and specialized hooking body punch to the liver that's hard to block.)
The Rutten Attack is named after famed Pankration fighter, Bas Rutten. Leon doesn't make regular use of this move, but when an opponent frustrates the hell out of him, this will become his go to move. It has severe implications that affect the rest of the match as the liver is one of the most sensitive organs of the body and when it's attacked enough times, it's downright crippling.
Special Comeback Attack(s)- (Special Note)
German Suplex/Back Drop Suplex Flip Counter (With Variation)- Leon has trained hard to master the art of backfliping out of a German Suplex or similar Back Drop maneuver. Leon gets caught in a rear waistlock, his opponent hits a release German Suplex or a Backdrop Suplex. Leon backflips, lands on his hands and knees. He bounds to his feet as soon as his opponent gets up and turns to face him. Leon lifts them up and splatters them to the canvas with a brutal Spinebuster which is automatically followed up with the Walls of Perfection. It's very hard to counter this combination as few would think that a 6' 5", 265 pound man that's as built as Corella could pull off the backflip in the first place.
A variation of that would be if his opponent doesn't turn, opting to celebrate their normally impressive German Suplex or otherwise maneuver. They stand with their arms raised, posturing, or whatever, and Leon pounces on them from behind with a rear waistlock and hits a Triple Rolling German Suplex and holds it for a pinfall, or releases it, then locks them up in a Figure 4 Leglock shortly thereafter.

Bio:
Leon Corella comes from a long and storied tradition of Pankration Wrestlers. His father, Larson "The Lion" Corella, was one of the biggest names in wrestling in the 1980's, but tragically died in 1992 in a car accident along with Leon's mother. He is trained in classic Pankration wrestling by his grandfather and as with tradition, Leon's put his own spin on it over the course of many years of competition. In his early years, a lack of showmanship, combined with limited mic skills and a bland personality made it very difficult for Leon to rise as a professional wrestler. He would out-wrestle his competition on a weekly basis and yet found himself often booked low to mid card and never given title opportunities while those less able than himself were granted much more favor. He developed a ring persona under those very conditions that would later be debuted in KAWF as "The Perfect One" Leon Corella.
With this persona, Leon would garner the hatred of the fans while universally giving the finger to any promoter that chose cheap theatrics and drama over real competitive wrestling. He thumbed his nose at all the wrestling conventions and despite making a huge splash, he never was allowed to achieve anything of real merit.
Leon's history is filled with battling against adversity. Early on, he tried to play the game the right way. He'd do whatever the promoters asked of him. XWI, KAWF, IGA, ICE, DCWL, SPW, SCWE, and TSWF are all promotions he has worked in and each one either fell apart just when he started to see the very height of his success or, in the case of IGA and SPW, screwed him over royally once he was milked for all his value.
Leon's greatest critical success came when he signed up to the Tri-State Wrestling Federation and wowed many wrestling critics with his technical chops in the ring, all the while finding himself in an escalating battle with TSWF's owner and booker, Mike Sandsbury. He wouldn't do things the way Sandsbury wanted them done. Leon has always been a wrestler who marched to his own drum beat, the consequences be damned. He started out trying to help the man better his product, but in the end, he joined the rest of the TSWF locker room and began to redicule the man for his poor business sense and shotty decision making skills. He was practically leading the locker room in their animosity towards the owner and it all came to a head at TSWF's Black Friday Crush.
He finally had the opportunity he had been waiting for, thanks to booking by Werewolf Gregorson. He had a shot at the TSWF Championship and at the same time, UWL had offered him a chance at a match against Ryan Kidd for the UWL International Championship. He was already the New England Patriot Champion and was riding high on a wave of success he hadn't seen in years. Yet in a very short span of time, he lost everything he had worked so hard for.
First, he was beaten by Shadoe Rage due to a surprise run in by a masked Marissa Monet that cost him his title shot. Then, a day afterwards, Mike Sandsbury would turn and shut down TSWF due to seizure by the New York State branch of the I.R.S. Leon vented his rage by purchasing the TSWF ring equipment and championships from an I.R.S. auction held shortly afterwards, then burning all of it during a heated, controversial promo for the UWL International Title where he put his career on the line. He at least had his title shot and was still the Patriot Champion...
...Or he was, until Kevin Hill forced him to come to ringside at UWL's Championship Weekend and relinquish the belt. So now he had lost the Patriot Title on top of TSWF's closing and the bitter loss to Shadoe Rage. Leon felt all of his hard work slipping away from him, everything he had worked so hard for was going up in flames just like the TSWF ring and it all came to a head when he finally stepped into the ring with Ryan Kidd. He came at him with fierce rage and anger and it nearly cost him the match outright when Kidd's resiliency allowed him to bounce back from the worst of the beating he was recieving from Corella and thus, Corella suffered the biggest defeat in his career to date.
Retirement didn't come that night for Leon. He didn't win the match, but with controversy surrounding the match finish with his foot on the rope unseen by referee and UWL camera men alike. It took just one fan, watching the match from the front row with a Cell phone camera in hand to give him all the ammunition he needed to keep doing what he loves more than anything else in the world- Being a professional wrestler.
Starting over from scratch, Leon is out to prove to the entire industry that he is the absolute best wrestler in the world. Experience, physical strength, Endurance, and an incredibly flexible wrestling style that can adapt to any opponent makes Leon a hard competitor to beat in any environment or any kind of wrestling match. Pure, Gimmicked, Hardcore, he can do it all and most importantly, do it well.
