Scott Reave vs. “The Rogue” Michael Tomkins
"Hey Ho Let's Go" by The Ramoans hits, and the lights around the entrance go out. When they come up, Michael Tomkins stands still wearing his black leather jacket with the word "Rogue" embroided on the back. Looking from left to right, he grins at the cheers from the fans, before heading down to the ring.
Cruz: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a twenty minute time limit. Introducing first, being accompanied to the ring by Timmy Brown..... from London, England... Weighing in at 225 pounds.... He is “The Rogue” MICHAEL TOMKINS!
Timmy Brown then appears from behind the curtain, changing the cheers to boos which he ignores, heading briskly to the ring. Michael climbs to the top rope, looking around the crowd before raising both his arms. Taking in the moment, he closes his eyes, before jumping back down, ready to start his match.
Roberts: The young upstart, Michael Tomkins, surely has a tough road ahead of him tonight. Not only is this his first match here in Frontier. But he's going up against Scott Reave, a man that has put on impressive performance after impressive performance since his debut here just a few short weeks ago. Now going in his favor is his mentor, the legendary Timmy Brown, who will be with him at ringside. Timmy has lent Tomkins a lot of his knowledge on this sport and he's trained him hard. However, when it comes to this match, there may be a difference of opinion. Timmy has strongly hinted that he wants to see his young student win this match by any means. He's evenly strongly hinted at getting physically involved. But I believe Tomkins is the type of guy that wants to beat a man on his own merits and skill.
The lights quickly cut to black, and there is nothing but the small flicker of flame from lighters in the audience. A familiar yet different scream is heard as Trent Reznor and Karen O's cover of "Immigrant Song" starts to play.
“We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow.”
As “flow” cuts out, the lights over the entrance way begin to flicker on and off repeatedly, manipulating the world into a series of still shots. We see a figure image from behind the curtain, wearing a black zip-up hoodie with the hood pulled up along with his ring attire. He keeps the hoodie low over his face as he surveys the crowd tonight before walking down the ramp and towards the steel steps.
Cruz: And his opponent..... from The Bowery, New York...... Weighing in at 225 pounds.... SCOTT REAVE!
He then quickly jogs up the steps and onto the second turnbuckle, where he poses for the fans in a familiar crucifix position. He then jumps over the turnbuckles and lands firmly in the corner. He walks to the middle of the ring, pauses for a moment, and then lifts the hood to reveal Scott Reave with a shit-eating grin. He then shuffles on over to his corner, where he pulls off the hoodie and leans into the turnbuckle, the lights come up and the music fades as he leans there, awaiting the ring of a bell.
Roberts: And here comes Scott Reave! The Submission Slaughterhouse has been on a roll since coming into Frontier. He defeated James Weck in his debut match, a man who many thought he would lose to. And just this past week, he defeated Blaine Harrison by submission. Scott Reave has a lot of eyes on him for his mouth and his in-ring work. He's one of the heavy favorites to walk away with the Frontier Heavyweight Championship at A New Odyssey. We'll see if he can keep his streak rolling here tonight.
The bell sounds as both wrestlers circling the ring. They lock up. After jockeying for position, Reave uses his strength advantage to move Tomkins into the corner. The ref scurries over and gives them until the count of five to break the hold.
Ref: 1......................2...................3...................4................
Both men reluctantly let go. While Tomkins has his arms in the air, Reave motions like he's going to sucker punch him. But he instead smirks as he backs up. Timmy can be see walking over towards Tomkins and telling him that he should have sucker punched Reave. Tomkins just shakes his head as he makes his way from out of the corner. The two circle the ring before locking up. After jockeying for position, Tomkins moves Reave towards the corner. But Reave turns around at the last second and moves Tomkins into the corner. The ref gives them until the count of five again to break the hold.
Ref: 1.....................2.....................3.....................4.................
Both men slowly break the hold. While Tomkins arms are in the air, Reave takes advantage and blasts him with a right hand, nailing him with a cheap shot to the face. The crowd boos while Reave backs up to about the center of the ring. While Tomkins holds his jaw, Timmy can be seen slapping the mat and telling him that that's what he gets for not following his instructions. Tomkins again just shakes his head as he exits the corner. The two men circle the ring. They both go for a collar and elbow tie up. But Tomkins ducks underneath the tie up attempt and applies a waistlock from behind. Reave quickly nails him with an elbow to the face. He then performs a standing switch and applies a waistlock of his own. Tomkins then reaches down, grabs a hold of Reave's arm with both hands and slowly pries it away from around his waist. Tomkins then counters into an arm wrench to cheers from the crowd. Tomkins delivers an arm wrench, followed by another. After delivering another arm wrench, Tomkins follows up with a hook kick, sending Reave stumbling into the corner. As Tommins approaches, Reave stops him with a kick to the midsection. He then grabs a hold of Tomkins and slams his head into the top turnbuckle to boos from the crowd. After turning Tomkins around, Reave unleashes a series of knife-edge chops that echo throughout the building. He then takes Tomkins and whips him into the opposite corner. Reave charges, but he ends up eating an elbow to the face that sends him stumbling back. Tomkins then runs from out of the corner and plants him with a jumping swinging DDT. The crowd cheers as Tomkins makes the cover. 1...............................2.....................Reave gets his shoulder up.
Roberts: Oh man, I thought Tomkins could have possibly put the match away early with that DDT....
Tomkins picks up Reave, grabs him from the side and brings him down with a russian leg sweep. Tomkins gets back up to his feet and follows up with a leg drop. He turns over and makes the cover. 1............................2............... Reave gets his shoulder up. Tomkins picks him up, snapmares Reave over and connects with a stiff kick to the back. He then runs into the ropes. When Tomkins comes back, he connects with a front dropkick to the face. He makes the over. 1...........................2..............Reave gets his shoulder up.
Roberts: Michael Tomkins contineus to impress, scoring yet another near fall on Scott Reave. Scott Reave needs to get himself into this match. I don't know if it's because he was underestimated or what, but Michael Tomkins has been controlling this contest in the early moments.
Tomkins picks him up and delivers several knees to the midsection. He tries to follow up with a gutwrench suplex, but Reave blocks it. So Tomkins delivers another knee to the midsection, doubling Reave over. Tomkins then tries for another gutwrench suplex. But Reave blocks it and counters into a fujiwara armbar in one smooth motion.
Roberts: And just like that, Scott Reave takes an attempted maneuver by his opponent and counters into a submission hold. Can Michael Tomkins make it to the ropes?
The crowd boos as Tomkins can be heard groaning in pain. Reave bridges back, increasing the pressure of the hold. Meanwhile on the outside, Timmy can be seen repeatedly slapping the canvas, trying his hardest to get Tomkins' attention. Once he does, he tells Tomkins to put his foot on the rope. Back in the ring, Reave can be seen repeatedly jerking the arm back, trying his hardest to snap Tomkin's arm in too. In between jolts of pain going up and down his arm, Tomkins tries to position himself towards the ropes. Once he feels he's in position, he tries to hold his right leg out and place it on the bottom rope. Tomkins takes his foot......and places it on the bottom rope. Timmy can be seen applauding at ringside while the ref gives Reave until the count of five to break the hold.
Ref: 1........................2..................3...................4.............
Reave lets go, only to quickly pull the arm back up into his grasps and apply the fujiwara armbar. Tomkins quickly reaches back out and places his foot on the bottom rope. The ref once again gives him until the count of five to break the hold.

Reave then delivers repeated elbows to the back of the arm. After bringing Tomkins back up to his feet, Reave takes Tomkins and whips him into the ropes. When Tomkins comes back, Reave lifts him up and falls back, delivering a pancake. After Tomkins bounces off the canvas and gets up on all fours, Reave quickly runs over and nails him with a shoot kick to the arm. Tomkins rolls over onto his stomach, clutching his arm in pain. Reave goes over, picks up Tomkins and delivers a vertical suplex. He holds onto Tomkins, rolls over, pulls him up and goes for another fujiwara armbar.
Roberts: And there he goes again! Scott Reave is going for another submission maneuver. He's going for another fujiwara.
But this time, Tomkins blocks it, refusing to go down to the mat. So Reave stops the attempt, kicks Tomkins in the midsection and whips him into the ropes. When Tomkins comes back, Reave bends over to set up a back body drop. But Tomkins counters with a sunset flip. The crowd cheers as Reave swings his arms wildly, doing anything and everything in his power to regain his balance. Once he regains his balance, Reave reaches over, grabs Tomkins by his left arm, turns around and drops down into a cross armbar. The crowd boos.
Roberts: Aagain, Scott Reave goes after the arm. The man is absolutely relentless in his pursuit of breaking his oppponent's arms.
Tomkins rolls over to his left and clasps his hands together, locking them together and preventing Reave from hyper-extending his arm. Tomkins then slowly gets up onto one knee, then up to his feet. He then uses his strength to hoist Reave up off the ground, only to slam him down hard against the canvas and break the hold. The crowd cheers.
Roberts: Michael Tomkins, taking a page out of Blaine Harrison's book last week by breaking the cross armbar.
While Tomkins staggers around the ring holding his arm in pain, Timmy yells at him to finish the match. Tomkins then turns and sees Reave slowly pulling himself up using the ropes. Once an angered Timmy gets up on the apron, Reave runs over, steps up onto the middle rope and nails him with a high knee to the face, sending Timmy falling off the apron and to the floor.
Roberts: Scott Reave just nailed Timmy Brown with a knee square to the chin! For all we know, Timmy could be knocked out right now. With Timmy down and presumably out, and with Tomkins writhing in pain, Reave has everything going in his favor.
As Reave goes back over to pick up Tomkins, Tomkins rolls him up in a small package to cheers from the crowd. 1.........................2.................Reave kicks out. As both men get up, Reave runs over, leaps up and takes Tomkins down with a jumping armbar. Reave pulls back while Tomkins can be seen cringing in pain.
Roberts: Reave once again has Tomkins placed in a submission hold. After having that arm worked over all match, how much more can Michael Tomkins withstand? How much more can he take? How much heart does this young man have?
The ref asks Tomkins if he wants to give up. But Tomkins tells him no. So Reave jerks back, sending a jolt of pain through Tomkins' arm. Tomkins can be seen cringing in pain as Reave cinches in the submission hold. The ref asks him again if he wants to give up. But Tomkins refuses to submit. Slowly, the fans throughout the crowd begin to rally behind Tomkins. A “Tomkins” chant then breaks out. Tomkins tries to feed off the energy from the crowd while Reave tries to keep him right where he is. Slowly Tomkins turns over onto his side and to his knees. He then slowly gets up to his feet. After using his free hand to push his other arm in the air and fight off Reave's grip, Tomkins nails him with a knee strike to the midsection, doubling him over. Tomkins then runs into the ropes. Boos and applause can be heard throughout the crowd while both men are down.
Roberts: What a move by Scott Reave! I don't know how he did it! It looked like Reave was about to be on the losing end of this match if Tomkins connecting with whatever he was going for off the top. But Reave, in a last ditch effort, used all the strength and energy he had left to get himself off that mat, bolt across that ring, run up those ropes and deliver a german suplex off the top rope. I don't know how these athletes do it!
While Tomkins is still down, Reave slowly rolls over onto his knee to boos from the crowd. He looks over and sees Tomkins slowly trying to pick himself up. Reave puts two and two together and knows that Tomkins is about to be in perfect position for the Street Spirit. Reave then gets up to his feet and crouches down, waiting in anticipation to strike. He motions to dart across the ring, but Timmy Brown grabs a hold of his leg on the outside.
