The scene opens in the heart of an unknown forest. The sounds of birds chirping and the leaves of the trees blowing in the breeze are all that's heard. Suddenly, a small trail of black smoke floats onto the screen and the camera pans towards the source. An elderly man, no taller than 5'3, dressed in an all black cloak stands above a recently lit pit of fire. His eyes are solely fixed on this growing flame, the beauty of the forest seemingly in the back of his mind. He reaches into his cloak and pulls out a small, golden, egg-shaped pebble, which he holds out in front of him. The sounds of the forest are suddenly mute as he begins to mumble under his breath. The camera zooms in on the man's face, but he bows his head making his words inaudible. Instead, the camera changes its focus to the pit of fire, which has begun to dance wildly as it grows at an almost uncontrollable pace. The man raises his head to the sky, inhaling deeply as he does. The flame responds to this inhalation, growing taller and taller as he breaths in and out. Once the flame grows to the point that it is over towering him, the man tosses the pebble into the flame. As if being fed gasoline, the flame shoots high into the air, eclipsing the trees and causing the animals to flee in fear. And just as quickly as it came, the flame quickly shrinks down back into the confines of the pit into which it was built until it eventually burns out.
At the center of the pit lies the golden pebble, now enshrouded in a fiery-red aura. The man watches the pebble expectantly, seemingly waiting for it to cool. The pebble begins to shake, as if it were about to hatch, but then the ground beneath it begins to shake as well. The soil beneath the pebble begins to part as a charred hand shoots out from the underneath the ground and holds the pebble into the air. The elderly man walks over to the hand, and slowly takes the pebble from the hand before returning to his original spot. The hand slowly retracts back into the ground, only to stop at where it broke ground. Another burnt hand emerges from the ground and both hands begin to pull up the owner of both limbs. First comes the head, but the figure is covered in dirt, mud, and burnt skin that the identity can't be confirmed. Next is the torso, and the fully exposed upper body clearly belongs to a male. Finally comes the lower body, and the male genitalia confirm that the figure is male. The man looks over at the elderly man who looks past the previously buried corpse. The man holds his hand out in front of him, realizing for the first time what he has become. Again, he looks towards the elderly man who has still yet to pay him any mind. The man starts walking towards the elderly man, but a geyser of flame shoots up from the edge of the fire pit preventing him from progressing any further. The elderly man shakes his head.
Elderly man: Not yet.
The charred man once again looks at his hand before reaching out to the older man. The elderly man walks towards the charred man and drops the pebble into his hand causing the charred man to shudder. Suddenly the pit of fire is once again set ablaze, this time engulfing both the pebble and the charred man. The man begins to scream in pain, He looks at the elderly man, who merely stares back at him. He then looks past the elderly man as an a lion, a tiger, and an elephant suddenly appear behind the elderly man. The trio of wild animals looks on at the bright blaze with the elderly man as the man in the flame once again screams out in pain. The man once again holds his hand out towards the elderly man, but this time it is the lion, the tiger, and the elephant that approach the flame. The man stares the three beasts in their eyes as one by one, they dissipate into nothing. The flame expands and heats up one last time, the roar of a lion, the growl of a tiger, and the trumpet call of an elephant growing simultaneously with the flame. And just like that, the flame reduces to ash leaving behind the charred man burning alive on his knees. The elderly man approaches the man once more, watching the smoke coming from the man's body rise into the air. As the man cools, his skin returns to its original pigment. After a few seconds, the previously deformed man is revealed to be Jacques Mercier. Jacques looks at the elderly man who nods at Jacques. Jacques begins to chuckle at the man before looking into the camera. The scene begins to fade with the image of Jacques grinning in triumph.
*Fade to black*
Birds can be heard chirping as the tree leaves blow in the wind. A tiger growls. A lion roars. An elephant calls out. Suddenly the phrase:
"No Church in the Wild"
Appears in all gold with a fiery-red aura around the text before the scene again fades to black.
