Character Development
The scene opens up to Cape Charles Beach in Cape Charles, Virginia. As the sun beams down, kids can be heard running around and giggling in the distance. Couples walk hand in hand. And several twenty somethings lay out on their towels underneath umbrellas that they've stuck in the sand. To the left of the frame lays Matt Mario, who is laying stomach down on his light blue towel. He has on his black Wayferer Ray Bans on and iPod ear buds in his ears. His calm afternoon on the beach is going well. That is, until he hears some yelling going on near him. Matt gets up on his knees, takes out his ear buds and turns to see what's causing all the commotion. It's his partner, Landon Mario, who appears to be hassling some children nearby.
Player 2: Hey.... HEY..... HEY! KIDS! Don't you dare touch those white jellyfish. They'll jump up and kill you. You hear me? They'll kill you!
Startled, one of the kids begins to whimper before running off. His friend, who he's left behind, begins to slowly walk backwards
Kid: Mommy! The tall man is scaring me!
The child's mother quickly scurries over and scoops up her seven year old into her arms. She gives Landon a cold, hard glare before turning her back to him and walking away from him.
Landon: Ma'am! Ma'am! I was only trying to help!
Matt looks on, shaking his head in disbelief at his partner's lack of people skills. He then gets up from off of his towel and walks over to him.
Player 2: Hey man, what's shaking? Catching some rays? Nice tan, bro.
Player 1: What's the matter with you?
Player 2: What's the matter with me? I don't know what you mean.
Player 1: You're scaring away little kids! Now people are looking at you funny.
Player 2: Scaring people away? I don't think so! I was only doing my civic duty as a concerned citizen. I was simply telling them to avoid any and all contact with the white jellyfish with the black and white eyes. Everyone knows that one touch will kill you. Either that or it'll shrink you. But they were pretty small kids. So I figured it'd just flat out kill them.
Matt does a facepalm. Landon just shrugs his shoulders.
Player 2: It's a shame that lady took her kid and ran off. I never even got the chance to tell them both about avoiding the red fish. Those will kill you, too!
Player 1: Would you stop it? What do you want, anyway?
Player 2: What do I want? I'm here to issue a challenge!
Player 1: Issue a challenge? To who?
To the omnipresent camera dude. Who else? See, he's right behind you. Wave, bro!
Landon then waves as Matt turns around and sees the cameraman approaching them
Player 1: How does he even find us like that?
Player 2: I dunno, man. These dudes are like everyone. They should probably take up like detective work and stuff instead of holding a camera.
Player 1: You think? So, what's this whole "challenge" business about?
Player 2: Oh yeah! Well, um, I'm here to officially issue a challenge to one A.J. FAIRCHILD!
Player 1: Are you serious? AJ Fairchild? That guy beat Micky O'Reilly in his first match here! And Micky was billed as like the most dangerous man in all of FGA!
Player 2: I know. That's why I'm challenging AJ. See bro, every since he came here, the dude has had some buzz around him. But after he beat Micky like that, now everyone is on his jock. It's "AJ Fairchild, he's so cool. AJ Fairchild, he's so talented. AJ Fairchild is the future". Sure, that may be true. But you know what, AJ? You're not the only young buck around here, you got that pal? Me and my boy here, we're pretty talented, too. Me and Matty Dukes, we're pretty damn good, too. So just to show you that you're not the best out of this new crop, I'd like to issue a challenge to you so that I could prove it. You may be good. But you're not seeing me in the ring.
Landon then raises his hand and waves it back and forth in front of his face. Matt just chuckles.
Player 1: Please tell me you didn't just do that.
Player 2: Oh, I most certainly did! And you wanna know why?
Player 1: Why?
Player 2: Because it's true. He's know he can't see me in that ring! I'm simply better than him, which is why he would never accept a challenge from me.
Player 1: Really? You think so?
Player 2: I know so, bro. That's why I'm withdrawing my challenging and am issuing one for YOU against him.
Player 1: That's nice.
Player 1: Wait, WHAT?
Player 2: That's right, AJ. My man here, Matty Dukes, is officially challenging you for a match at the supershow.
Player 1: Oh no I'm not.
Player 2: Oh yes you are. Or should I say, yes you did, seeing as how you already told me you were going to challenge him.
Player 1: Dude, I did no such thing.
Player 2: You sure did. See, I've even got the e-mail to prove it.
Landon then reaches into his back pocket, unfolds a piece of paper and begins to read from it.
Player 1: Wait, what is that?
Player 2: Oh, you mean this right here? This is a print out of the e-mail that you sent me earlier today.
Player 1: What e-mail? I never sent you any e-mail!
Player 2: Sure you did. It's right here! Allow me read from it. AHEM........
"Hey Dude. I just want to tell you that AJ Fairchild isn't anything special. I can run faster than him. I can fly higher than him. I'm just overall more talented than him."
Player 1: But I never said that!
Player 2: Oh yes you did. You even said this, too. AHEM........
"If AJ Fairchild were to ever nut up and get in the ring with me, I'd whipe the mat with his overrated ass. Pissed Off Teenager? Yeah, he's gonna be real pissed off after the ASS WHOOPIN' that I lay down on him. That is, if he isn't too much of a PUNK that he ends up declining my challenge".
Damn, dude, that's cold.
Player 1: Landon! I NEVER. SAID. THAT. I NEVER e-mailed you ANYTHING!
Player 2: Never mind him, AJ. He's clearly camera shy right now. Despite him trying to play stupid, he did in fact send this e-mail to me today. He did in fact challenge you to a match at the supershow. So now, AJ, the ball is in your court. What are you going to do? Are you going to accept my man's challenge? Or are you, as Matty so eloquently put it, "too much of a punk" that you end up declining the challenge? I guess we'll find out pretty soon. Hey, maybe he responds to us this Saturday?
Cameraman: Aaaaaaaaaaaand CUT!
OFF-CAMERA
The cameraman then packs up as Matt stands there with his arms crossed. By the look in his eyes and by his body language, he's clearly pissed off at Landon.
Cameraman: Okay, guys. Thanks for the video.
Player 2: No problem, dude. Take it easy.
Cameraman: Take care.
Matt then pushes Landon back.
Player 1: Dude, what the HELL was that?
Player 2: What was what?
Player 1: I never wrote you any e-mail!
Player 2: Of course you didn't! I know that. There's nothing on this piece of paper anyway.
Matt's jaw drops in shock. But he's quickly consumed with anger again.
Player 2: Dude, you just lied on camera and read off a fake e-mail saying that I called AJ Fairchild a punk and challenged him to a match at the supershow. I NEVER SAID THOSE THINGS!
Player 2: Once again, this is correct. What's your point?
Player1: What's my point? WHAT'S MY POINT? Why would you do something like this to me?
Player 2: Dude, I'm trying to like help you.
Player 1: Help me? HELP ME? You're going to help me by LYING?
Player 1: …............ something like that...................
Player 1: OH............. my God. I'm gonna kill you. I.......AM GOING.....to kill you.
Player 2: Dude, relax. Here me out. FGA, they've been signing up a lot of young guys left and right. But guess who is seen as the leader of the pack? Guess who everyone sees as the breakout star? That's right, Mr. AJ Fairchild himself! He's getting all the pub. He's got all the praise. Shoot, he main evented in his first match. HIS FIRST MATCH! And the way that I see it, we're just as good, if not BETTER than him. You can beat him. And if you want the attention around these parts, you've got to beat the best. AJ did that when he beat Micky. Now, you have the opportunity to do it against him.
Player 1: Well if you're so confident, why don't you just face him yourself?
Player 2: HA! Me against AJ? Dude, AJ would kick my ass!
Matt throws his arms up in the air, as if to say "you've got to be kidding me".
Player 1: You've got to be kidding me.
Player 2: He would. He would. But you, bro? You can fight his fight. You can go fast. You can take it to the air. And you can beat him, bro. Just think about it. The guy who took down Micky O'Reilly ends up getting taken down himself by Matt Mario. Beating him is not only the fast track to the top, but it puts your name on the map. And by proxy, it puts my name on the map, too. You can do this, dude. I'm sorry I lied. But I'm doing it for you. You've got this. You can beat AJ!
Player 2: But who am I kidding? He probably won't even take us seriously and decline.
Player 1: Well, what if he does accept?
Player 2: Then we prepare for one hell of a fight.
