FGA Headquarters
OFF CAMERA
The scene opens up to the offices of Frontier Grappling Arts. The promotion for the Final Frontier pay per view is in full swing. The pay per view, which hails from the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, is being headlined by a World Championship Match pitting Chandler Scott against Zero McHannon. Stepping out of one of the offices is Chandler Scott, who has the World Championship belt over his shoulder. Chander is in the middle of conversing with a local sports reporter as he does his part to hype up the event. After this interview with the local papers, it’s on to a radio interview with WHCY. Tomorrow, it’s another round of press. This time, in New York City. After he wraps things up with the reporter, Chander makes his way through the lobby when he suddenly stops himself. He cocks his head to the side a bit as he squints his eyes. He then turns to his left and does a double take. The profile of a slim yet curvaceous blonde cations his attention. Chandler makes his way over towards the woman, smirking and rubbing his chin as he approaches. The woman appears to be in the midst of a conversation with someone. But the conversation is cut short as Chandler butts in. He leans up against the counter and clears his throat, capturing the attention of both an office employee and the blonde. As the blonde turns around, she reveals herself to him. Standing in front of him is none other than Savannah Taylor. Chandler motions for the office employee to take a hike. The middle aged woman does just that. He then turns his attention to Savannah and raises his eyebrow.
Chandler Scott: Well, fancy seeing you here. But um… are you lost. You do know San Diego is that way.
Chandler points his index finger to his left. The Las Vegas native smiles softly as she places her hands on her slender hips.
Savannah Taylor: I know which way San Diego is. The funny thing about that is, it’s hard to go back there when what kept me out there ceased operations.
Chandler purses his lips. The reveal that his brother in arms was the real threat the entire time is a bit of a touchy subject.
Chandler Scott: Yeah, so I’ve heard. I would say I’m sorry, but I’m not sure if I should? I will say congratulations, though. I’m sure you’ve been bombarded with congratulatory texts and phone calls. The praise is well deserved. But we both know it’s long overdue, just like that title.
Savannah wasn’t going to bring up the subject anymore. There was nothing more about it that needed to be said, in all honesty.
Savannah Taylor: I’ve received my fair share of phone calls, texts and tweets. It’s all been a lot to take in all at once, you know? People I never expected to say anything are suddenly congratulating me. It feels…..great, actually. Long overdue is one hundred percent correct.
Chandler Scott: I’m happy for you. I honestly am. But um… back to the matter at hand. While you’re always a sight for sore eyes, it’s a bit odd seeing you here. Not just in New Jersey, but in these offices of all places. I’m all for the pleasant surprises. But if you wanted to meet up, you could’ve picked a more intimate location than the lobby of the company I work for.
Chandler flashes a smirk. Savannah just shakes her head as she laughs a little. While this was indeed a pleasant surprise, the real reason why she was here had more to do with management than the current World Champion.
Savannah Taylor: About that…..see, I’m not here just to surprise you, though that is a great bonus. I’m here on business, actually.
She paused herself, feeling somewhat apprehensive about what she was going to say next.
Savannah Taylor: Long story short? I was finalizing some paperwork today.
Chandler Scott: Paperwork?
Chandler gave her an inquisitive look.
Chandler Scott: … what type of paperwork are we talking about here? You trying to train the youth down in LDFC or something?
Savannah Taylor: I’m probably the last person they want training the future of this business. The paperwork I’m talking about…..
She pauses a second, drawing in a slight breath.
Savannah Taylor: …..it’s finalizing my contract for FGA.
Chandler doesn’t react. He remains motionless while giving her a blank stare. After blinking his eyes a few times, he speaks.
Chandler Scott: … a uh… an FGA contract?
She can only nod as she glances down at the ground and the tops of her heels. She knew what signing with the FGA would mean, and she was prepared to handle anything that came her way. That didn’t make her any less nervous.
Savannah Taylor: Uh huh.
Chandler Scott: Well… how about that? I guess the only thing I can is… welcome. Things are a little different here in FGA. There isn’t always some outside force that’s trying to take control of the company… or kill the company… or remake it in its image. But I will say this. The competition is pretty stiff. Some of these men and women will do anything to get ahead. I’m sure you’ve heard of Dom Harter and Jimmy Page, right? They’re a bit… much, to say the least. You’ve got your work cut out for you out here, blondie. I hope you can keep up.
Savannah Taylor: Please. Have you JUST met me? I can keep up.
She says in a joking manner. She knew just how tough the competition was, having watched her fair share of shows. But there was one thing that she prided herself on, and that was handling herself when it came to matter inside the ring.
Savannah Taylor: But in all honesty, thank you. I’m looking forward to seeing what this next phase in my career holds for me.
Chandler Scott: I’ve always felt that your confidence was your greatest attribute. It’s also what attracted me to you the most. Speaking of which… we know what your prospects are looking like when it comes to your career. But what are your prospects looking like outside the ring?
Savannah tilted her head slightly to the side, allowing his words to resonate inside her head for a minute.
Savannah Taylor: Outside of the ring? Now that is a bit more interesting. I guess I don’t have anything set in stone….that I know of at least. That could change, however.
Chandler smirks as he shakes his head.
Chandler Scott: My, my, what a shame. I assumed that a beautiful woman like yourself would have suitors lined up out the door. And amongst those suitors, I figured that there would be at least one that would have caught your eye. But apparently, that’s not the case. Which is interesting, because I have it on good authority that there’s a handsome man that has his eyes on you.
This time, Savannah has to bite the inside of her lower lip to keep from grinning too widely.
Savannah Taylor: No, no one has lined up in attempts to break down my door, seeking my attention or my hand. And I believe your authority has a knack for being accurate more often than not. Someone has their eyes on me? He must be devastatingly handsome then.
Chandler Scott: Devastatingly handsome?
Chandler can’t help but snicker.
Chandler Scott: … yeah, I’ve heard him be referred as such. In fact, Ms. Taylor, this man is standing right in front of you. So, what do you think? Is he as handsome as everyone says he is?
Savannah Taylor: Honestly? He’s even more handsome.
She could feel her cheeks start to flush slightly as she brushes a stray strand of hair out of her face.
Savannah Taylor: As a matter of fact, I’d venture so far as to say he’s the best looking guy I’ve seen.
Chandler smiles from ear to ear.
Chandler Scott: You’re far too kind. I’ll tell you what. I don’t know what your plans are for this evening. I would naturally assume that a woman that’s as successful as yourself is in high demand. But if you could make time for little old me, it’d be my pleasure to take the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen out on a date.
There was no hiding the smile this time as the smile on Savannah’s face seemed to reach her eyes.
Savannah Taylor: High demand? Possibly, but not at the moment. And as a matter of fact, my calendar for this evening was free up until now. Now I’ve just penciled in an evening with you, who I will always make time for by the way. No questions asked about it.
Chandler Scott: That’s good to know. Well, I know you’re busy signing off on paperwork. So I’ll leave you to it. I’m definitely looking forward to tonight. An evening with you? It’s been far too long.
Chandler leans in and kisses Savannah on the cheek before giving her a wink. He then turns and heads out of the lobby doors. She stands there, seemingly motionless as she watches Chandler head out the doors. A smile, an honest and genuine smile creeps onto her face as she laughs softly to herself.
Savannah Taylor: Well this day just got a lot better.
She then turns and heads off in the direction that the office worker originally went, onward to the prospect of paperwork. There was a noticeable spring in her step as her heels clicked on the floor. Suddenly the thought of paperwork seemed to be less of a chore for the Las Vegas native. She was finalizing one important aspect of her future. Then that would leave plenty of time to focus on other, more enjoyable, aspects.
